Guess what!

Yes we’re having another storm, Rachel is her name I think. I am a bit tired of this now, how much wind is it out there 🙂 The wind direction is slightly different from last, time straight from south, and I couldn’t figure out if this would mean my cottage would be hit by it or not. So we discussed for a long time where south really was and we all had different answers 🙂 One was directly wrong because he pointed towards the ocean which is west 🙂 A compass app on one of our phones showed several different directions 🙂 The one we thought might be closest probably showed slightly north-east 🙂

Driving home wasn’t especially fun but much better than I had thought it would be because first the snow fell and then the rain poured down and just before driving homewards the snow started to fall again, that in combination with wind gusts on 21 m/s (47 mph) and slightly slippery roads made it a bit difficult to keep the car where it should be 🙂 It has already started to calm down some thankfully.

These weren't any good even after editing :-) But I've figured out that it is the ISO 100 film that gives these dull photos when the shutter speed has been slow.

But it will start agin tomorrow morning around the time I’m driving to work and will be pretty nasty on my way home. The steady wind is not that bad but the gusts will make it hard to drive on the motorway tomorrow. I wouldn’t drive that way if I could avoid it, it’s going over the plains but I need more fire logs, good to have just in case the power goes out again and the only alternative I have to drive on the plains is to drive up on the mountain 🙂 It is like choosing between the plague or cholera 🙂

I thought I should show these bad photos too 🙂

I got an e-mail telling ne my order was on the way and I had to think long and hard about what I might have ordered from a business cold Cyber Photo. Then I remembered, when I bought my Hasselblad camera I also bought film, both color film and black and white. I just got an e-mail, telling me that they didn’t have any film in stock but the order would be sent as soon as they got any film, that was over five months ago and I had totally forgotten about it 🙂 The film I already have bought came from another business that I found on our eBay, Tradera as we call it. Well one can never have too many film rolls 🙂

It is time to make something to eat and today I’ll have cocoa, one of the mixes I got from Joyce this Christmas 🙂 It’s the last one so I’ll enjoy it even more 🙂

Have a great day!

    Hi Christer,
You’re getting our used weather. 🙂 It must recharge itself on its way across the Atlantic.

The group discussion about which way South really was made me laugh and wonder why you all didn’t know. It doesn’t move around much. It sounds like the compass app couldn’t connect to the mother ship. 🙂
This time of the year South is probably wherever the sun is, assuming you can see any bits of the sun. In my house, South is out the front door. 🙂

ISO 100 film is not helpful in dull, flat light. You can try pushing the film by telling the camera that you really have ISO 200 or 400 in there. It’ll give you a few light stops more and some faster shutter speed. But you have to do it for the entire roll. You can’t push it more than two stops so ISO 100 can’t be pushed beyond ISO 400. You should probably tell the film processor that you pushed it, too. Might make no difference at all to them but I always did.

It’s damp and cold and sunless here. Actually, I think it might be snaining or rowing. Some evil mixture of rain and snow, anyway. It was when I last glanced out the window but I can’t tell what’s going on now.

Enjoy the cocoa and the evening.

    • Hi Caryn!

Yes I am and I wish You could have kept it 🙂 The warm water fuels it and since the polar vortex is elsewhere they come to us instead of to the continent.

I said that the sun is always directly south twelve o´clock but we couldn’t agree on where it was at that time of day 🙂 and when it comes to that app I don’t think the mothership was even close 🙂 I would have no problems pointing out south here at home since my back weall is almost pointing slightly south east. But we haven’t had sun for a long time so I’m not even sure we know how the sun look like 🙂

I wonder what ISO it is on those rolls of film I’m getting 🙂 With my luck I guess they all are 100 🙂 I’ll write down that on the bag next time I’ll send in some film rolls. I was hoping to get the e-mail from thgem telling me that the lates rolls I sent in was developed and that I could get the photos from their web site but no. I guess that they need a ceartain ammount of rolls before they develope them and I guess not too many use analog cameras now days 🙂

I just looked out the front door, no rain or snow and the wind has changed direction to south west so I could only hear it but it sounded as if it has calmed down some, at least for the moment 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  4. I’m having delicious syrup from the farms on my pancakes and you are having hot chocolate! Are we spoiled by Joyce or WHAT? ! 🙂
There is snow on our local mountain range and it’s beautiful but it’s 68 to 72 degree’s here and warmer at times. It snowed all around us and not a flake on us. How disappointing. But at least I can see it. It’s like a wonderland where you are. Something out of a Fairy Tale.

    • Hi Mona!

Yes we are and we love it 🙂 🙂 🙂

The snow is almost totrally gone now but we’ll get more next week and this time it will stay for a while. Better that than the weather we’ve had so far, one day cold, the next snow and after that warm and rainy. I am a bit tired of that now 🙂

You have our summer temperatures 🙂

Not much of a wonderland here today, nor a fairytale. The wind is blowing and the rain is pouring down every now and again. Well it could be a horror fairytale 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

      Christer.
