Trumpet swans have arrived.

No snow :-)

No snow 🙂

It is snowing outside my cottage, the same kind of small flakes that never seems to land anywhere even if it continues to snow for hours. It’s too warm outside at the moment so e´ven if it should actually land somewhere it won’t stay for long. According to the weather predictions it will stay above 0C (32F) all night but I rarely trust those predictions. I won’t go anywhere tomorrow anyway so let it snow if it so wish 🙂

Trumpet swans (or Song swans as we call them). They arrived a bit early but this winter is unusually warm.

I worked in the neighbor factory today so time passed quickly. The job in itself is no fun but it is something different to do and that usually means time pass by fast. We had our weekly meeting when I came back and after that it was only 40 minutes left until I quit for the day.

We have some ice left though.

Like almost always I passed by the super market to get fire logs and food for the weekend and today I also wanted sowing compost. I only needed a small bag so naturally they only had big 50kg (110 pound) sacks 🙂 Well I might need some later in spring so I bought it. It was a bit tricky to carry that bag and a package with fire logs (10kg, 22 pound) from the car in to the kitchen at the same time 🙂 I’m so glad none of the dogs thought it would be a good time to walk in front of me on my way in 🙂 Last night Orvar almost pushed me down the stairs when he suddenly decided to rise when I tried to pass over him 🙂

I’m in an argument on facebook right now. Some people there think it would be a good idea to deny people health care and even revoke citizenship if they have  been down in Syria to fight for IS. I think that is a very stupid idea, only dictatorships have laws like that and if one opens that door just the slightest, voices will be heard who wants to do the same to other people who do things they don’t like. All in good intension of course but the road to hell is filled with good intentions. I say that we should arrest and prosecute them as fast as we can (something they never answer me on what they think about that) but to remove human rights is not the way to go!

People who wants to have laws only existing in dictatorships are no better than the ones they want to punish! Where do we draw the line? Should we do the same to people committing horrid crimes here in Sweden too? If we revoke their citizenship, where should we send them? If we deny them health care are we then better people? For some strange reason they don’t think to think the same about Swedish nazis fighting in Ukraine, where’s the difference? People who reason like that never seem to be able to see more than one step ahead, if even that. It scares me who low people can sink!

The bog is soaking wet rihgt now. We couldn't go far before the dogs started to sink down through the ice.

Well it is time to give all the animals something to eat and then something to me too 🙂

Have a great day!

TGIF, Christer! I can not believe you are having a warm winter. Shall I send you some New York snow? I’d be glad to,
About arguing with people, you can never win an argument, or even get people to listen. It seems the more opposed they are with their “righteous” views the less likely they will listen to reason. Being compassionate is not in their vocabulary.
    Have a super weekend.

    • Hi Robin!

You Americans are all so kind who wants to send us some of Your snow but I don’t want to deny the happiness of a real winter 🙂 🙂 🙂

So true but I’ve never heard anything like this from these people before. I can understand how they mean but to go so far that we should make this country a dictatorship to stop them making one down there??? They just don’t seem to be able to think one step ahead, what would be the result of doing a thing like that and so on.

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

Oh, and the trumpet swans are lovely, such huge wingspans.

    • They are! They are always too early to be a sign of spring though but it is nice to see them. Now I long for the arrival of the cranes 🙂

Hi Christer! Just look at the swans!! And no snow!!! Amazing! We are snowing today. But then it will clear and we will have stupid temps all weekend long. Just in time for Saturday!!! Our female dog Willow is famous for getting up quickly when you step over her – sometimes she almost takes us out! You would think that she would just lay sleeping but I guess she gets scared poor thing. I missed your post yesterday, I am sorry. The day ran away with me. Your photo of the tree fungus is absolutely incredible! You live in such a beautiful place. Have a good Friday evening!

    • Hi Dianna!

The Trumpet swans are too early to be a sign of spring arriving but it is still nice to see them, now I long for the arrivalof cranes.

Orvar is impossible that way, he can see me coming and still he doesn’t rise until I step over him 🙂 Sometimes I think he’s trying to kill me 🙂

Some days just are like that and those days pass so fast! It should happen more often when days are boring 🙂 🙂

I do like our strange mushrooms 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  4. Christer,
The weekend doesn’t look all that great. We’ll have snow, rain and sleet. Sunday will be rainy and warm, around 44˚, but the worry is the rain will add to the snow on the roofs and more roofs will collapse from the weight.

It is freezing right now, only 5˚. I have started putting Gracie’s coat on when she goes outside. Boxers don’t have a whole lot of fur, especially on their bellies.

Your swans are beautiful to see!!

    Have a wonderful evening,
    Kat

    • Hi Kat!

We’ll get rain and later tonight snow again but the temperature will stay around 33F so there will be no snow on the ground tomorrow, if predictions are right that is 🙂

Collapsing roofs were a big problem here three years ago when we had all that snow, my roof is thankfully too steep for any bigger ammount of snow to stay and become too heavy.

Nova look as if life is coming to an end if I put oin her coat 🙂 🙂 🙂 She just stand still wsith her head hanging and her tail between her legs 🙂 🙂 I can only hope that she’s toughr than I think because I just can’t put it on again 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

      Christer.

  6. I LOVE the photos of the Swans!
Yeah, Facebook can really make the blood boil.
A good friend of mine had a nasty fight with someone and now they have unfriended each other and posting awful things.
and it wasn’t even over something of importance like you are battling.
Nope, it was over someone commenting on a woman’s “hair bump”!
    LOL!

    • Hi Cindi!

The first signs of a coming spring 🙂 Well according to how wee look at when spring arrives, the average tem´perature must stay above 32F for a week) we actually have spring here now 🙂 and I heard a Common Buzzard today, they usually don’t show up until the middle of Mars.

Yes Fb brings out the worst in people 🙂 For some reason people stop behaving civilised on the internet. But angry about bumping hair? 🙂 🙂 🙂

      have a great day!
      Christer.
