Did I win?

Today is Walpurgis night, or eve as we say here in Sweden. It’s a sort of semi big day here in Sweden. Big in the middle of the country less big in the rest of it. This is the day when se celebrate spring, have bonfires and choirs sing old songs to its honor. This is also the day that most likely gives us bad weather so the ones going out is drowned by rain πŸ™‚ I’ll tell You more about it tomorrow if I remember.

It was still raining when I came home from work but it stopped as soon as we went out for our walk.

I had a big battle with my printer two days ago and I’m not sure if I won or not πŸ™‚ I was going to print out the invitation to the annual road association. I opened up Word and was just about to start writing when it suddenly said that it was impossible to reach Windows on the net and this must be a pirate copy of the program! and then it made it impossible to do anything. So I had to get the modem on my other computer start up internet and within seconds it told me that life was good and that I actually didn’t have a pirate copy πŸ™‚ So idiotic!!!

I connected my computer to my printer and told it to print out 15 copies of what I had written. I also marked what printer it should send the text too, for some reason the computer had several different choices where it felt it could send the text to. I also marked that I wanted the text in black. Anyway, it started working and out came a paper with the most watery yellow text I’ve ever seen πŸ™‚ It could almost only be seen in a certain angle towards the light. To my big surprise the printer then just gave me 14 white pages?! So I asked it to start printing again with the same result?!

Β  For some reason I can’t understand the computer had switched to a printer called note to myself, what kind of printer is called that?? So I changed it back and then I found the little square that asked if I wanted to print out only the page where I actually had written something on!! Why on earth would I like 14 blank pages?? Anyhow, I double checked everything and pressed print again. It started to print!! and in black too! but not the entire letter, two thirds of it was black but the last third was sort of lined but white in between πŸ™‚

DSC_0025

DSC_0029

So I checked if I actually had ink in it and it was almost full. So I took an old paper and photo copied it just to see what happened, it filled in the entire letters this time. Problem solved thought I and how stupid I was πŸ™‚ I got just the same result again but every second paper was a copy of the old one I tried πŸ™‚ I had forgotten to remove it πŸ™‚ At that moment I was ready to just throw the printer on the floor and scream some πŸ™‚ But I thought I would try it in another color just to see what happened. The invitations are now left in the mailboxes and has a deep blue color πŸ™‚

Tomorrow is May first and a Holiday in big parts of the world, it is the workers day. Back in the days a majority of the workers were out demonstrating for better conditions in life, today most just have the day off, goes on a picnic or their summer houses. There are still a few vΒ΄brave ones though and the rest of us will watch them on tv when they send the news in the evening πŸ™‚

All the fun things we have to do.

This morning.

This morning.

We’ve had a rather nice day today, from what I’ve seen through the windows at work. The day passed fairly quick but still it felt like it would never end πŸ™‚ I was supposed to have the salary negotiations today but the union man who is supposed to do it got sick so we’ll have it tomorrow instead. He’s still sick but I’ll do the negotiations with the factory owner. Can’t say I’ll enjoy it but someone has to do it. I don’t have the right to sign any deals though, that will the union man do when he gets better.

We don’t have much to negotiate about tobe honest, they made a three-year deal two years ago so I already know how much we’ll can negotiate about. It is how the money will be shared between us we’ll talk about. I always feel that the best would be if we all got the same but that’s never gonna happen πŸ™‚ Competence is of course one factor we need to check, another is if one is very active at work or if one is the lazy kind πŸ™‚ and so on and it always seems we never think the same about people πŸ™‚ People never likes me after these negotiations πŸ™‚ Thankfully I really don’t care what they think about me. My life motto is: I don’t care what You think about me, I just care that You do think something about me πŸ™‚

How awful it would be if they never found anything to talk about me when I’m not around, how boring would I be then? Or if they actually forget about me just a few days after I’ve left πŸ™‚ Christer? Who was that? Well that’s never going to happen πŸ™‚ I did another fun thing today, my income tax. To be honest, I don’t have to do much, most of it is pre printed on the papers. The only thing I have to do is the tax deduction for the fuel I use to and from work. I can’t take any public transportation so I do get back some for that. When I’ve written down that I’ll only have to post it to the tax office.

Waiting for breakfast.

It’s a fairly nice morning, the sun is shining but it’s covered with the eventual cloud that passes by every now and again. 10C (50F) and only a weak wind, weak but sort of sinister cold. I get the feeling snow will arrive at any moment but none is predicted and to be honest, there’s not a snow cloud in sight. I have the kitchen door mostly open but every now again the cloud is rather big and it feels like it takes forever for the sun to appear and warm up my kitchen again.

I got the phone call yesterday afternoon and off I went to pick up the thing I bought so long ago πŸ™‚ I was waiting with my car at a bust stop, the bus had just passed so I knew I could stand there for over an hour before the next one would arrive. It seems that several people had decided to meet there because several cars stopped and the drivers all asked if I was that or that person πŸ™‚ It was so warm that I opened up my car windows to let the air flow Β and when I had gotten what I was waiting for I had planned to drive in to Skara to take a few photos.

DSC_0028

I scoulded Nova and Sune for making me miss the pheasant and fox this morning. I told them to stand still and both times I was going to take photos of the both they pulled the leash. I would have understood it if they actually had seen the animals but this was just a "we don't give a crap about what You say" thing :-)

Suddenly the window on the front passenger side sounded strange, like if some sand was crushed by the window and then the entire window fell don into the door πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ So I changed my plans and drove home again, there was after all a weather prediction saying rain would come the same afternoon. I was a bit lucky in all this because a corner of the window still peeked up and it was very easy to get the rest up and in place too but then I had the problem of how to keep it there. In the old days one often saw car windows with a screw driver pushed down to keep it up. I however chose two wooden clothespins, You know the one with a spring attaching the two halves together.

Not in a great hurry to get away from us.

I removed the spring, put the two halves back to back and pushed them down between the window and the car door. The window sits very well now and this is how it will stay until I feel I have the time to let the garage take care of it πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I have so many other things to do that will keep me away from work, like doctors visits, that I feel that since this isn’t an emergency it can wait for some time. I know they usually have a car that I can borrow at the garage but sometimes other customers have gotten them before me πŸ™‚

So what was it I had bought You might wonder, well I think one can call it a candle house or light house even though it really isn’t a light house Β πŸ™‚ It is made from clay and can take our winter climate and one is supposed to put a light inside it so it can shine nicely when it is dark outside. I knew that the chimney was broken but I’ll buy some paint and try to make it look like a natural decay on a house left long ago. But I didn’t only get the house, my friend that had kept it for me for so long also sent me some other things.

This is the house that I had bought. I do like the colors and the maker says it is real gold on the parts that are golden. Hard to see here though :-)

They were deep frozen and wrapped in a beautiful green blanket. I looked down into the two different plastic bags they were wrapped in and saw the biggest chicken I’ve ever seen together with two huge chicken legs and some pork. It all came from animals she raised herself and the animals never understood what happened the day they got slaughtered, the pig for instance was eating and had no interest what so ever about what happened around him. Well, it wasn’t any chicken to be honest, neither were the legs, it was a small turkey πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ She has told me to cook the turkey on low heat for a long time and when the days comes I’ll send You a mail Joyce to get a good recipe πŸ™‚ (no photos of the meat though, they are resting in my freezer at the moment πŸ™‚ )

A bit hazy this morning.

The weather isn’t good enough to stay outside for any longer period of time but it isn’t bad enough to stay indoors watching tv all day. I found a new channel I haven’t had before, Fox and the weather sure isn’t that bad so I would stay indoors to watch any of those programs πŸ™‚ Crossing Jordan is probably the best they show and that’s really old. The rest they shows seems to be reality shows which doesn’t show much reality to be honest πŸ™‚ They also show bad movies at night.

A long time ago, way over a year or so, I bought something on an auction where the all the money goes to a dog shelter in Thailand (Yes I know the money goes there because a friend of mine visits the place every time she goes down there). The thing was placed at another friends home and we were only going to decide when and where I would pick it up πŸ™‚ It is heading this way today and I’ll pick it up somewhere, we haven’t decided exactly where yet though πŸ™‚ If Β fate is us benevolent I’ll actually get it today and I’ll show You it tomorrow πŸ™‚

It is a much nicer day than they had predicted, the sun shines through gaps in the clouds every now and again and there’s no rain in sight. They have changed the predictions from yesterday so now we won’t get any rain until Sunday but we all know that can change any second πŸ™‚ Not even the wind was disturbing today, on the contrary because when the sun is shining it gets so warm that even a sweater is too much.

I couldn’t figure out if the horses had been here or was here working.

We walked down to the creek and when we almost had reached it I saw a big van and a big horse carriage. The tracks on the ground showed that it was working horses and that they were pulling something heavy. The land owner has hired them to take care of all the trees that had fallen during all our winter storms. The ground is rather sensitive here since it is mostly bog and swamp land here so horses make less damage to the ground while working.

I fear I might need to mow the lawn again this weekend, I had hoped it would grow slow now at the beginning but I hoped in vain it seems. Well I can wait until next weekend but by then it might be so high that it clogs the mower all the time and that is so annoying. I need to buy a new big watering can, the one I had suddenly cracked at the bottom. I tried to fill it but it took forever and as soon as I stopped filling it the water level sank fast, there is a long crack almost around it at the bottom πŸ™‚ I had several great ones in my old garden center, You know those big heavy nickel-plated ones but did I bring home any of them?

Salmiak has been out hunting all morning and wasn’t happy at all to see us before breakfast πŸ™‚

I’ve had a semi busy morning today. It is now forbidden to drive around with studded tires and even though I do have excellent summer tires I don’t have any rims to them πŸ™‚ so what to do? Well it isn’t illegal to drive around with winter tires without any stubs so this morning I went out and started to remove the ones still left in the tires. I had already removed the ones in the front wheels but there were plenty more left than I thought in the back wheels.

So out I went andΒ found the screw jack in the car, lifted it up and started to remove the stubs. The front wheels were no problems at all because they I could turn with the steering wheel, the back wheels are a totally different thing. Even with the car up in the air I still had problems reaching the inner stubs and to get a good angle when lifting them out of the tire. I really didn’t want any part of my body beneath the car, I never trust those jacks, it has happened that they just break down without any warning.

The ground was a bit wet so I had prepared a plastic bag filled with newspapers and that worked well on one side of the car, not so on the other since the ground is leaning steeply towards the cow pasture just beside my garage, so I kept on sliding down towards the now rather curious cows all the time πŸ™‚ But now they are all gone and I’m driving legally again. I have rims just waiting for me at a work friends place. He has had a garage together with his brother and has all equipment needed to do this, the problem is that he also is a farmer and this is the busiest time of the year.

So we’ll put on theΒ summer tires on the rims as soon as he’s finished with the spring cultivation. I wasn’t planning on keeping the old winter tires for next winter so it is good that they still can do some good before I throw them away. Well we are of course not allowed to throw them away, they will be recycled and all businesses selling tires must take them back when it’s time to get new tires.

I’ve also done the laundry and it is now hanging on the patio to dry. It is nice outside but not nearly as nice as they said it would be. I might as well do it today.

Frosted Scilla.

We’re having the most wonderful morning here. The day started out sunny and rather cold, -5C (23F) and now it’s around 10C (50F) and to my big surprise no wind! The kitchen door is open and the dogs walk in and out as they please, well that is if they can manage to pass above Nova because she won’t leave her spot in the sunlight πŸ™‚

It isn’t especially easy to pass by since she is in a lousy mood, she refused to eat her food and I refuse to give her anything else. One could think that this would be a sign of illness but it isn’t, she willingly ate any crap she could find on our morning walk but her own food? No way! πŸ™‚ She gets like this every spring so I’m used to it and hunger will eventually make her eat the food she gets πŸ™‚

I’ll most likely mow the lawn later today but I need to find the grass collector. I usually never collect the grass but I was thinking of putting some in my composts. I can’t only have dog poop in them, well I could but it’s always best to mix with other things. I’ll also put some twigs in it so air can travel down to help with the composting. I’ve realised I need more composts, I fill them way too fast. I’ve saved a few sites in my computer in how to build composts, I could of course do it the traditional way on the ground but I also know that it soon would be filled with the worst weeds there is and I really don’t need to help spreading them even more effective πŸ™‚

I could of course buy a new one but I also need to buy a new wood chipper, the old one is giving up now and I have a lot of twigs and branches to chip and will most likely have the coming years since I’m slowly removing most of my lilacs and I do have a few other dead things I can chop down. I also need a new chain to my electric chainsaw, it is time to trim the hedge. I do that every fifth year or so and the stems get rather thick during that time πŸ™‚ I could of course buy a brushcutter, it would be more effective to be honest but since I now have that chainsaw I really don’t need one.Β

I can’t avoid the lawn mowing this weekend :-)

DSC_0024

The weather predictions says nothing about heavy rain and strong winds, on the contrary. It says sunny and nice weather. I know I shouldn’t be surprised but still πŸ™‚ It isn’t especially cold but the humidity is so high that it’s getting uncomfortable here in my little home, so I’ve started a fire in the stove to dry up the air some. So now I’m wondering about the rest of the weekend, the predictions says really nice and warm weather so I guess that can mean storms, snow and hail πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

So how about my feet this morning You may ask. The left foot complained a lot yesterday while I was wearing shoes and the right one was quite happy. This morning I didn’t feel any pain in my left foot while it was almost as bad as it was before in my right one πŸ™‚ I do hope that my right foot will get better too otherwise I think I need to call the hospital so they can adjust the insole. Early days yet though, I better give it a week before I know how it will work out.

The sun did shine when we walked down to the creek after work and as soon as we were away from the winds it felt quite nice, almost t-shirt nice but as soon as we reached the fields it felt like almost scarf cold πŸ™‚ We were lucky to get inside before the rain started. I may not like this rain but nature sure does, there’s no chance of avoiding mowing the lawn this weekend, it’s amazing how fast the grass grows when a spring rain comes along.

I’ve bought some soil to fill those pots that are empty after I filled some with those dug up grass tufts. It is still too early to sow anything that isn’t really tough because nights are still very cold and I’ve had to scrape the car windows in the morning before going to work. But it’s always nice to be prepared for when it is time. I’ll also replant the tomato plants I have standing in my kitchen widow. I don’t have any space to place them to be honest so I’ll have to figure out how to rearrange the pots I already have there or see if I should toss out some of them πŸ™‚

I went to the hospital yesterday to get my insoles and had decided to go to work after that but after walking around for a while in the city I realised it wouldn’t be such a great idea, I was exhausted after walking around for only a few minutes πŸ™‚ So I took a few photos with one of my old cameras, stopped by the supermarket to get some food for when I would start to feel better and drove home again. That in itself wouldn’t have been any bigger problem at work but I realised I had to run to the bathroom every time it started πŸ™‚ It finally calmed down and this morning I felt really good so off I went to work. I bought some fresh pasta at the super market on my way home yesterday and when I came home I read on the package, made with 20% fresh eggs, so the 80% of the rest would then be old ones? πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Of course I know that they had used egg powder but to be honest, did they think I would be impressed that they had any fresh eggs in it at all? I wasn’t, I need more than 20% to be impressed πŸ™‚

Back to the insoles, I asked if they thought I would get any problems by using them all the time already from the beginning but they said that these were made from a softer material so I shouldn’t feel any pain at all. My right foot shouted of joy as soon as I started using them but my left foot wasn’t as pleased. It screamed there’s a stone in the shoe! Remove it at once! but I refused and the foot did eventually get used to it even if it still isn’t shouting of joy πŸ™‚

It would be nice to be able to walk down the stairs without feeling that the feet might be broken πŸ™‚Β This is seen as an aid so the insoles didn’t cost anything, only what I paid to see the doctor, around $9 US. The morning started out so beautiful, the sun shone and the frost sparkled like million diamonds. It lasted for around ten minutes and then the clouds covered the entire sky. So I looked at their site and found a hiking shoe that looked really comfortable and also was on sale πŸ™‚ I thought that any business selling things to men and women who knows how to handle a rifle really didn’t want to anger them and sell crap πŸ™‚

Have You, like me ever wondered why, in fantasy novels, when humans are in war with all the mythical beings they can find, the mythical beings always loose? I mean they have all the powers in the world and should by all logic win against humans just by blinking their eyes, still they always seems to have this fatal weakness that the chosen human always find out about so he (it’s usually a he, isn’t it) easily can kill their leader and then defeat them all πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Sometimes it’s best just to shut down that part of the brain that demands logic in stories πŸ™‚

The sun is shining but that is more or less all this dayΒ has in common with how it was yesterday. The winds have returned with almost storm force in the gusts and the temperature has dropped considerable. Still, it was quite nice walking early in the morning as long as we could stay out of the wind. I’m sitting here in the kitchen trying to wake up, again. We were up and out on our walk early as usual and I thought it would be a good idea to take a nap when we had come home again. Just a short one of course. I woke up an hour and a half later and I’m having big problems waking up again πŸ™‚ I have been down to my cool cellar and picked up some plants that I think should start their outdoor lives again and I have a cup with really strong coffee by my side but I can’t say I’m winning the fight against the tiredness, not yet anyway πŸ™‚

It took quite some time for the fog and clouds to move away so the sun finally could shine down and heat up the air and ground. It has been so warm that there’s no need to start a fire in the stove tonight, so I hope that the Jackdaw’s have stopped putting twigs down our chimneys by now πŸ™‚ Now I can’t think of anything more to write about πŸ™‚Β

It is time for something to eat and I think I’ll make some cocoa today. I feel it will be an early night today, I can barely keep my eyes open already now πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

I’ll use my old wheelbarrow.

I rarely see the squirrels living here so when I do I always try to take a photo. I almost managed to focus on it today :-) But the tree trunk looks very focused :-)

Our morning walk sort of got destroyed by the castles tractors, I don’t think they even try to dampen the sound from the exhaust pipes. They come here to feed the cattle and I’m glad I don’t live close to where they drive around. Still the sound from them almost drowned the sounds in the forest and it was totally impossible to even hear the sound wall from the cranes down at the lake. The Black Grouse roosters gave up too and I wonder if it can be legal driving around with such noisy machines, especially since the entire village now is a bird protection area and will continue to be soΒ till the end of this month.

It will be slightly more cloudy today but slightly warmer instead and the real warm weather will start from tomorrow, even nights will get warm. I’m not surprised it happens just when we start to work after the weekend again πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Yes I know I shouldn’t complain, some of You still have nasty cold weather and some of You already have heat waves and draught. But still πŸ™‚

I had planned on going to town today but I think I might skip that, I don’t have the energy to be honest πŸ™‚ I can get those things I want tomorrow at the grocery store in the village where I work. Instead I think I’ll continue to work some in my garden. I started to make my vegetable patch bigger yesterday. I thought I worked quite much but realised that I hadn’t πŸ™‚ It’s hardly noticeable to see that it got any bigger to be honest πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚Β

I usually toss away the turf I dig up at the left corner in my garden, there’s actually a tiny hill there now πŸ™‚ I was once thinking of growing something there once but the stinging nettles thrive there because I also toss dog poop there that I then cover with those turfs I toss away. So yesterday I thought I could use those turfs better and brought out my old wheelbarrow. It is rusty and has big holes near the bottom and the tire has had no air in it for years. So I covered it on the inside with two layers of ground cloth, filled it with turf and then put two layers with ground cloth over it all.

I thought it was Bertil I saw and didn't bother to stop the dogs when they ran to great him.

The rain that falls will be able to sink down into the barrow but the grass will have a tough time growing up through the cloth. I will later on make tiny holes in the cloth and plant something there. Squash perhaps? or pumpkin? I’m not sure yet and I’ll have plenty of time to decide since the last night with frost usually comes at the first week in June.Hopefully the worms that followed the turfs will do their best to decompose those turfs at the bottom of it all and hopefully the grass at the top will have a way to big job to grow through the double layer of ground cloth.

I didn't take especially many photos this morning, so the rest You'll see are from yesterday afternoon.

I’ll continue to make the vegetable patch bigger so I was thinking of doing the same today but with big pots, the ones I usually have tomatoes growing in. I have plenty of pots so I can just keep filling them and use the other pots for flowers if I want to or perhaps a potato or two πŸ™‚ We’ll all know if this was a good idea or not when autumn arrives πŸ™‚ I just hope I have enough ground cloth left, after all I’ll only need to put that on top of the pots since they only have the small hole in the bottom and that I can cover with a shard of any broken teacup I already have πŸ™‚

The temperature has just passed 0C (32F) and is on its way upwards. I’ll make myself a cup of coffee and a hard bread sandwich and then I’ll start to work. To be honest, I don’t see it as work and I won’t get any problems with aching joints since I do it in my own pace and take lots of breaks for tea, coffee or cocoa πŸ™‚

Nasty cold here this morning, -9C (15,8F) and I refused to go outside until the rising sun had warmed up the air at least some. So we came out rather late for being is in to a -5C (23F) heat wave πŸ™‚ It was actually rather nice since we don’t have any wind at all this morning. The almost 20 000 cranes created a wall of sound that is amazing and I can’t understand how those living closer to the lake can sleep at all even with earplugs πŸ™‚

We went down to the creek this morning and walked over the fields to get there. I was a bit worried that it might be too much for Orvar but he managed to walk that far without any bigger problems, his legs are not wobbling worse or less and he doesn’t seem to be bothered about it especially much. TwoΒ deers stood in the neighbor field and a big flock of doves flew by on their way to the lake. I could see birds all over collecting nest-building materials so nature is very busy right now.

The America clock is ticking loudly here ion the kitchen, I’ve always loved that sound. The chime doesn’t work thankfully πŸ™‚ it is a nice sound too but the clock would start every fifteen minutes and I think that it in the long run would drive us insane πŸ™‚ It is time to do the laundry and after that I think it’s time for a nap.

The kitchen door is open and it will stay that way until it starts to get cold again this evening. The wind that is comes from north-west and my kitchen door heads towards south-east. The birds are singing, the flies are flying and the old boys are asleep in the cool livingroom πŸ™‚ Nova sleeps in the sun on the kitchen stairs and Sune runs in and out every two seconds πŸ™‚ He’s having fun by himself since the others rather sleep πŸ™‚

It was hard to believe that we would get this wonderful weather since the morning was even colder than it was yesterday morning and the clouds so much thicker and heavier. We even had some snow fall for a while, big flakes thatΒ fell so slowly that I actually thought it was beautiful, especially since it by them was so warm it melted just as it hit the ground. Orvar looked really fine the first two hundred meters (219 yards) but then his legs started to wobble again. Much better than yesterday though so I’m hoping this started only because the other dogs hit him while playing. It won’t go away once it started but perhaps it won’t get worse as fast as I feared yesterday.

The sun started to shine when I drove away to get cat food, something I forgot last Thursday. I brought the Hasselblad camera with me and took some photos on the way to the store and stopped by the lake on my way home. It’s amazing how many different languages I could hear there today. German, English, Danish, Flemish, Norwegian and Swedish of course but I also heard at least one language from Africa. I could of course not identify it since I don’t know what different languages they speak down there, I guess they speak more languages in Africa than in most continents. But it was very visible that these people had their roots somewhere on that continent. I’ll send the three rolls of film I have to be developed next week. I didn’t bring any digital camera so You’ll have to be patient.

Swedes are really boring when it comes to holiday food, we eat much the same things every holiday with only small variations. Pickled herring in oh so many ways, smoked, grilled and pickled salmon, meatballs and prince sausages is sort of the staple food we have. Christmas has ham and Easter has eggs and chicken of course. Many want something we call Γ„ggost (egg cheese) and I do like that πŸ™‚ It is made from lots of eggs, milk, sour milk or sour cream. Oven omelet with a stew made from chanterelle mushrooms is a must for many and I think I’ll do one today but with another mushroom because I don’t have any chanterelle here at home.

The coming photos could have been taken today because it's just as sunny but I took them yesterday afternoon.

Today is the most likely day the risk of meeting warlocks and easter witches (or easter hags as the real translation is) begging for candy, we don’t have any kids in this village who will do that though, the one kid we have is too shy I’m afraid. Homes are now decorated with PΓ₯skris and naturally there are chickens and eggs on the drapes, table cloths and handkerchiefs. The witch is probably the biggest easter symbol we have here and Facebook has been flooded with witch jokes and how to fly safely and so on. The children have probably already gotten their easter eggs filled with candy already when they got up this morning. The eggs are made from paper and I’ve seen eggs so big that they most likely could contain more than four kilos (almost 9 pounds) of candy πŸ™‚

The Easter bunny, or as we call it, the Easter hare, has never been especially popular here. We have him as candy and printed on the easter eggs but that is more or less it. I never really understood why a hare would run around and give us eggs at easter when I was a kid, I always thought that was a job for hens πŸ™‚ We made lots of easter ornaments at school, like paper hen and roosters, chickens made with balls made from paper (can’t find any english name for them) and pipe cleaners. My mother has never been the nostalgic kind so nothing of that is left I’m afraid.

The morning is cold, sunny and wind free so it is quite nice to walk around outside. The cranes makes a wall of sound down by the lake and the Black Grouse’s a much quieter out on the bog. I wanted to take a long walk now when the weather is so nice but I turned back after watching Orvar.

His back legs are very wobbly now and I’ve seen this in his mother and grand mother. Both suffered from lumbar paralysis at the end of their time and now it’s closing in on Orvar. He already get the medicine that could help him with this so I’m afraid the time is closing in now. This can come and go for a while and I hope he’ll get better fast. Orvar himself doesn’t seem to mind that his legs wobbles around though πŸ™‚

Yesterday evening, if we had been watching up in the sky we would have seen a lot of flying objects we normally don’t see. It was all te witches (and warlocks) that started their journey to BlΓ₯kulla where they’ll have a party with the devil until they fly home again on Easter eve evening. There are lots of places called BlΓ₯kulla here but the “official” place is an island by the east coast called BlΓ₯ Jungfrun, The Blue Maid. Normally theyΒ go by broom and they almost always bring a copper coffee pot and a cat on the broom. Some however travel by a flying cow or a goat πŸ™‚ Here on the west coast we then start huge bonfires on easter eve and have fireworks to scare them from coming home again. Both are now days dying out because people don’t like it when we burn hedgehogs alive and fireworks scare our pets to death.

From yesterday and to easter eve we might also get visits from children dressed like witches (or warlocks now days, thank You Harry Potter. Even boys dressed as witches when I was a kid). Back in the days we draw easter cards ad gave them away for candy and I think they still do that today. What doesn’t kids do for candy πŸ™‚ We have no kids in the village so I didn’t get any candy, I would only have eaten it all myself πŸ™‚
