Today I love the wind.

The clouds flew fast across the sky and every now and again a gap in between them allowed the sun to shine through. It changed later on though so it has been mostly sunny all day.

It is strange that I can almost hate the wind all year but just love it after a heat wave 🙂 I don’t think we’ve reached 20C (68F) today but the sun has been shining most parts of it and the really strong wind has both dried up my lawn and keep the flies away. It felt just amazing to be able to mow the lawn without getting bit by any flies 🙂 We could even walk into the forest without getting specially disturbed by them. The wind didn’t blow especially hard in there but I guess it was enough to make the flies think it was best to stay where they were.

These lambs have been escaping the pasture since they were almost newly born, they don’t go far though 🙂

For the horses.

For the horses.

I have cherries on my two tiny Sand Cherry trees! Not many but there are cherries 🙂 So Now I’ll place the chicken net over them so the birds won’t be able to reach them. This kind of sand cherry doesn’t get higher than half a meter (much the same in yards) but the brancj´hes can be longer than that but they tend to follow the ground instead. One need two different plants to get cherries and that is exactly what I managed to get when I sowed the seeds a few years ago. I’ve read that these cherries will be rather tasty so I really hope that’s true 🙂

There are lots of butterflies flying around too now but it is still so warm that they never sit still long enough to become photographed. I did get one on photo yesterday though and I saw a photo of it with its name written beneath it but I just can’t remember it 🙂 It seems that this place is amongst the few where butterflies still are common and that’s of course because all farmers around here are organic farmers, no pesticides allowed at all.

It is time to see if the mail has arrived, it is probably the most exiting thing that happens here in the village. That and when the ice cream truck comes 🙂 I really have no clue to when the ice cream truck comes but I think it might be on a Friday and most likely when most people work. I don’t think children can go to the ice cream truck to buy just one ice cream here like I know they can elsewhere, it is a package of it or nothing. They sell other frozen things too so if one have nothing to have for dinner and the ice cream truck comes it can save the day 🙂 I’ll keep my ears open so I don’t miss that most annoying tune it plays when it arrives. It is so annoying that the poor divers have been threatened and the tires have been cut with knives when it stand still. I know it is annoying but cutting tires won’t help, then they can play that tune until they get help and that can take hours 🙂

Have a great day!

Some plants I've sown are just a bit more thorny than others :-) This one has thorns even on the leafs :-) and they hurt bad when getting stuck in the hand :-)

Can't remember the name on it though, think it grows in Canada if I remember right.

Bertil has found a new favorite spot to sleep on. It's just where I need to point the remote controll and as long as he stays there I can't change channel :-)

    • Hi Hermit’s Baby Sis!

Light and shadows can make fantastic things with photographs.

      Have a great day!

Hi Christer! Sounds like I have some catching up on reading around here! 🙂 We are having a good couple of days – the heat and smoke has broken, we have gotten down to 8 celcius the past couple of nights and I love that! No air conditioning, just fresh air! 🙂 We are going to get hot again but I will enjoy this break as long as it lasts. We have a good couple of months of nasty heat still – which I dislike alot. I love the picture of the horses today! I love it when they lay down, or when they roll around. Looks hilarious when they do! Glad to hear you have cherries! I hope they taste delicious! Our cats love to lay at that exact same spot too as our TV has the remote thingy where yours is and our TV is next to the window, so they lay there and look out the window. One can’t change the channel when they do that. Most annoying to have to get up and move them 🙂 🙂 I am a lazy bones! 🙂 I can’t be sure what that leaf is with the thorns – I know the cucumbers and pumpkins have the fuzzy vines and when one gets stuck in your finger it feels like a thorn. I now know why everything around your place grows so beautifully – no pesticides!!! On our small city plot we are pesticide, herbicide and any other nasty “cide” free as well. I kill my weeds with plain old vinegar, and it works! 🙂 Have a good evening!

    • Hi Dianna!
during nights are quite ok 🙂 Especially after a heat wave. I just can’t stand nights around 20 any longer, I didn’t mind while I was younger though. No warm weather in sight here so I guess it will take some time if at all before we get warmer weather again.

To be honest, I’m not that fond of horses but they do look good from a distance 🙂

Of course they chose a place like that as their favorite 🙂 I have howver no problems moving my cats 🙂 No window close to my tv though, the chimney is however just behind the tv 🙂 It is cool and nice now during summer 🙂

NO pesticides, no herbicides what so ever here and since they don’t use those the rest of us tend not to do it either. So lots of both good and bad insects here. Last year was a dragonfly year so I’m not sure if this year will be that.

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

    Hi Christer,
Yes, the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. And there’s less sheep poop mixed in with it too. 🙂

I’m surprised it took Bertil so long to figure that spot out. 🙂
The spot where I aim my TV remote is conveniently located where there is no shelf to sleep on, it’s too high off the floor to sleep in front of and is just low enough that it’s bloody awkward if I have to get at it. But if I pile the dog toys up too high in their storage basket, I can’t change the channel. Which is more a comment on the number of dog toys than anything else, I guess. 🙂

Your ice cream truck sounds more like a rolling frozen food aisle. 🙂 Maybe I would like one of those to come around my street once a week so I can replenish my freezer. 🙂 It can dispense with the tune though. The local ice cream truck came by once so far this season. It changed its tune from the old Turkey In The Straw refrain to something else equally annoying but I can’t remember what it was.

Weather here is humid, hot, partly cloudy with a teeny breeze that doesn’t help much unless one is already in the shade. I manhandled the AC unit into the window earlier this morning but it’s just running on the fan for the moment.

    Enjoy your lovely breezy day.

    • Hi Caryn!

He did find that spot rather quickly, I just moved the tv downstairs 🙂 and it has just been standing there for a few days.

It does say a lot aboutr how many toys they have 🙂 🙂

It does and it is I guess 🙂 Back in the days they omnly sold ice cream but now they ahve fish, hotdogs and hamburgers so if the fridge ius empty just hope the truck comes that day 🙂 It is such an annoying tune! Loud too to be honest so it can be heard miles away 🙂

Still cool and nice here, the wind is weaker though and the clouds have taken over totally, still very nice 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

      • Caryn

In my defense, it is a very small dog toy box so the toys have to be piled vertically. Once upon a time I had a nice big wicker basket for the toys but Rocky likes to chew sticks so…. 🙂

  5. My cat Stretch is always walking on my remote and turning it to “Mute” or changing channels on me!
At first I thought it was the TV itself or the antenna and then I realized it was him. It’s very annoying and he seems to time it at the exact wrong moment.
We have an ice cream truck that goes through the neighborhood all the time and I find it frightening. It’s very old and rusty looking and there are stickers plastered all over it. the guy inside looks like a bad guy from a movie. If i had kids, I won’t let them near that thing.
There is a frozen food company that comes around and delivers steaks and things. It’s a big refrigerated truck. It wouldn’t work for me because my freezer is small and I don’t eat steak.
Love all the photos! But my favorite is the close-up of the sheep.
How cool to live next to that!
and finally THANK YOU!!!!! because of you, I have tomorrow off!
I walked up and said to the head vet tech that was standing with the other techs, that – “It’s illegal to work 7 days a week. I need some help, I need a day off, so figure it out!” and I walked away and they figured it out.
I have Wednesdays off until I get someone hired and trained.
Thank you again for letting me know that’s illegal!
    😀 😀 😀 😀

    • Hi Cindi!

They all stay away from my remote thankfully 🙂 Of course he always does it at the worste moment, he is after all a cat 🙂 🙂

It doesn’t sound as if I would by anything from that guy either 🙂 🙂 I rather buy fresh food but if I have nothing at home and the ice cream truck comes I would buy something there. I’m not sure I wouod buy anything from that food company no matter how great the quality is 🙂

I did think it sounded odd that You could work seven days a week! The word illegal tends to make people doing things 🙂 🙂 🙂 and to be honest, what use do they have of You if You work Yourself to death? They should have thought about that long ago!

Enjoy Your day off tyomorrow 🙂

  6. I’m ashamed to tell you this, Christer! I was scrolling and reading this post..and was at the bottom and beginning to frown and grumble to myself..” WHY DIDN”T he post a single picture of my cat..and the very next picture is a fantastic one! Bertil in all his glory!! Thank you! 🙂 The one eye open says “I would NOT touch that remote and point the thing at me, if I were you, good buddy! DO NOT even try it!!” LOVE that cat.

    July 7, 2015 at 9:46 pm

    • Hi Mona!

You do like that cat 🙂

He follows us out every day but not always back home agasin during the summer so it is harder to get good photos of him now. It will turn again when autumn arrives 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  7. Christer,
It is so like cats to sit in the most inconvenient places. Maddie loves lying on my computer and Fern sleeps wherever she wants.

The night is still humid so I will be putting on the AC in my bedroom. We are supposed to have rain tomorrow, and that might drive away the humidity. The breeze is blowing but is not strong enough to do much good.

The repair man came and didn’t do anything. He said by using the modem I had fixed the phone line myself. He said he could go outside and fool around with all the wires so I can plug into the wall, but he thought it unnecessary. I would have asked the idiot I spoke to yesterday but I doubt he knew if using the modem was okay. I did get a new remote but the volume doesn’t work.

I hope you have a great evening!

    July 8, 2015 at 12:10 am

    • Hi Kat!

They do and they know it too 🙂

So now You call via Your modem? Yes why not if it works. I had them take down my phone cable totally since I never used the old phone and that was the way the lightning dfound its way into my home. So now I have mobile phone and mobile internet on both the mobile phone and the lap top 🙂 I’ve never tried to make a call via the laptop but have recieved and sent many text messages. Forr a long time someone sent their text messages to the wrong number so every big muslim holiday I got blessings from them 🙂

      Have a great day!½

      Christer.
