They predicted lots of sunshine for today and to my big surprise the sky was cloud free when we got up this morning and went out for our morning walk. 7,5C (45,5F), no wind and not a single fly in the sky. I’m not surprised that the sky now is covered with clouds 🙂 They had by the way predicted lots of rain yesterday and we got one shower for around 10 seconds 🙂 The day was actually mostly rather sunny, something they hadn’t predicted 🙂

I took a photo just like this one with my old Hasselblad camera, it will be fun to see if I managed it to look similar :-) It's hard to know since I use a different ISO on the digital camera.

Anyway, it was so nice being out walking without getting bit by the lately totally crazy flies. This isn’t the worst year when it comes to biting insects but it’s not one of the better either. I feel when the bigger ones bite ant it itches a lot after those bites but I don’t even react to the smaller ones any longer. The dogs however scratches themselves so much sometimes that I wondered if they had gotten fox scabies but I found those nasty bites they were scratching on. Fox scabies isn’t that bad any longer, they get at least two shots of something and then it’s usually gone. Back in the days it was a nasty shampoo that smelled like death and was quite nasty in all ways and it had to be used more than seven weeks I think it was and it didn’t help every time either. It’s only pure breed Collies who still needs to use that, they tend to go insane if they get those shots.

They aren’t especially worried to be that close to us as You can see 🙂

We walked by the fields and met our stalker, the deerstalker again 🙂 This time he wasn’t alone, a doe was walking beside him. He wasn’t that obvious in the stalking today so I only saw him a few times before we turned and walked in to the forest. I had hopes to see some mist rising in the sunshine but I only saw it in one place and it was impossible to get a good photo of it. The sun had by then warmed up the air so much that a few flies tried to annoy me but they were still so slow that they never will try to annoy anyone ever again 🙂

I bought an older tripod for my old heavier cameras yesterday, they had sent the package by bus so I had to pick it up in a petrol station in Falköping. I picked it up and since I was in Falköping I stopped at one of the bigger grocery stores there and bought some things, like lots of minced meat for Orvar. They had some minced beef that they had lowered the price with 30% so I bought a lot of that. I think I could go back to normal dog food to be honest but his stomach is so much better now that I will keep on making his food myself until the day he doesn’t need any food any longer, because he’s worth it as they say in the commercials 🙂

The tripod is much better in some ways than the one I already had, it is much steadier than the one I already have, it’s also rather easy to make longer or shorter. It is heavier though and there’s no quick hitch so it does take some time to put it on or take it off. Well one can’t get it all in life, can one 🙂 Yes of course one can if one is filthy rich 🙂 I like this old tripod though so I’m happy with it.

It was just as sunny yesterday morning but slightly warmer so we never went in to the forest.

I don't use the macro setting on the tele-photo lens especially often because my hands shake a bit too much but sometimes it works just fine. This spider is tiny!

I think it is time for a small nap and hopefully I’ll wake up to a sunny day, as they had predicted 🙂 🙂 🙂 If not I can always bake a bread or something or perhaps take another nap 🙂

hi christer! i just noticed that i have roses growing amongst my ferns and hostas. the closest rose bush is pretty far away but i bet they are growing from it’s roots. your photos are wonderful. i haven’t used my macro lens in a long time either. i seem to never think of it. we have a glorious day here today. it is sunny, breezy and no humidity. i would like summer if we had more of this weather. sadly, i am locked in the basement with teddy to avoid the workmen!

    • Hi Joyce!

I think that’s when a rose look at its best, beside ferns and hostas. It is something about those leafs that makes it look so good. But some roses grow so big that they cover the other plants after a while 🙂

I always feel it is a bit ricky to use the macro setting because it really enhanses any tiny movement my hands make 🙂 It’s fun when it works though, like with the spider and the top photo of the snail 🙂

We too have an amazing day, just enough warm, windy and lots of sunshine. This is how summers should be, at least around me others would most likely want it much warmer 🙂 Too bad You’äre locked in the cellar today then! Well You still have plenty of summer after they have left Your home but then it will most likely be hot and humid again!

      Have a great day!

    Hi Christer,
How nice that The Deerstalker has a friend. I expect she’ll cut down on some of his stalking for a time, though. 🙂

I don’t know if my telephoto zoom lens has a macro setting of its own. The camera has one. I don’t like to use the telephoto for macro because I’m not tall enough to get far enough away so that the lens will focus even at a minimum distance.

I love the photo of the snail on the end of the leaf.

Today the heat wave and the humidity is gone. It’s cool and sunny outside and it’s only going to get into the mid 70’sF. I can open the windows again.

    Enjoy the day.

    • Hi Caryn!

You never know, he might bring her in to it 🙂 She’s an old friend and never run away when we come close to her.

To be honest, I haven’t checked what things my camera can do 🙂 perhaps it too has a macro setting 🙂 🙂 The closest I can come when using the macro is slightly less than a yard and it is really tricky to find the tiny thing I want to photograph to be honest, the spider had almost run away before I even came close to find it 🙂 🙂 ad it took five photos to get a clear one 🙂 The snail was easier though, it justr hang there all alone moving very slowly. It only took three photos to ge a clear one of it 🙂

This day turned out to be rather fantastic! slightly cooler than 68, windy and mostly sunny 🙂 It is even possible to walk in the worst fly places without getting too bitten. This is how summer always should be 🙂

      have a great day!
      Christer.

      • Caryn

The closest I can get is with my telephoto is about 5 feet with the zoom on its lowest magnification. Once the thing is focused, I can zoom in. Usually. If you camera has a macro setting, it’s probably on the menu that has all the preset things for portraits, sunsets, fireworks etc. On mine that menu is called SCN.

        July 16, 2015 at 4:41 pm

      • I might actually check that in my camera one day 🙂 To be honest, Nikon cameras don’t have that many things in the camera.

  4. Such a nice peaceful relaxed day…
I think you are rich, my friend.
Maybe not in $$$ but 😊

Hi Christer! Wow, I wish we were having a bit of cooler weather. Today its raining, but still humid so it feels gross. Also makes your hair frizzy! 🙂 The pictures of the deer are fantastic! What a great pair they make! I know my son’s new camera has all sorts of gadgets with it, but I really don’t understand photography (unless its looking at pictures) so its all a bit confusing for me! 🙂 I wish mince would come down in price here, its incredibly expensive and they say it will keep rising. I don’t buy alot, but would so if it wasn’t so costly. Funny though, I never hesitate to buy it when the dog’s need some for their stomachs! 🙂 We have them on new food because our Willow itches so bad in the summer – hasn’t made any difference. We are also feeding them real pumpkin with their meals. Supposedly that will help with her troubles she has with her glands on her backside. We have to visit the vet every other month to get them sorted and its not fun for her, and again, another expense! But its necessary otherwise she’s extremely uncomfortable. Have a good evening!!

    July 16, 2015 at 6:14 pm

    • Hi Dianna!

It looks as if this will be seen as our hot weather this summer 🙂 🙂 🙂

Todays cameras have everything in them 🙂 Nikon cameras however have fewer of those things in them it seems, I don’t mind I just take my photos so what You see is what it is like here.

Mionced meat is very cheap here, how strange that it can be so different! So young people who just have moved to their own appartments usually buy minced meat and eat lots of spaghetti and spaghetti sauce, last for long, easy and cheap to make and just taste better and better after a few days 🙂

We never hesitate when it comes to our pets, do we 🙂 If they need it we get it somehow. I’ve read about lots of homeless people that starves as long as they can give their dogs what they need.

Nova had that problem for a while but the medicine helped her, she had to go through two treatments and hasn’t had any problem since then thankfully! I know those glands can be removed surgically but it isn’t always a success.

      Have a great day!
      Christer.
