I have my car again and they could see the error codes to the latest odd behaviour from my car but not why they occur. So since nothing happened while they were out driving the car and nothing happened on my way home from the garage we’ll just wait and see if it happens again.
I had asked them to check my hand break because it got stuck during the winter and I hadn’t dared to use it after that. It was so bad they had to change everything 🙂 🙂 He didn’t say anything about the rest so I guess that went on without any problems.
It is time to make a pot of tea and something to eat. I really hope I won’t wake up too many times during the night because of coughing, I’m so tired of it now.
Have a great day!
My car will be at the garage tomorrow to get a few things fixed before the annual vehicle inspection on Wednesday. Nothing big so I didn’t expect any expensive bill to pay but then! I had just started to back out my car from my parking space when it suddenly had no power at all, the engine just died. So I started it again and it seemed to work fine when I slowly started to drive forward.
Once again it had no power to speak about, it sort of jumped forward and it smelled really strange. I thought that there was no use in stopping and feel sorry for myself so I forced it forward and for about 100 meters (much the same in yards) it didn’t work well at all and it smelled even stranger. Then suddenly it went back to normal and worked like a clock all the way home??!!
I’ve called the garage so if it doesn’t work tomorrow they’ll come and get me. The garage owner thought that it might be the turbo that broke down but then there should be lots of dark smoke coming out the exhaust pipe and the car shouldn’t work as a clock at any time after that. I know he was speaking about a sensor the last time the car behaved strange, it wasn’t that sensor that time (it was another sensor) so perhaps it is that one this time. I’ll know tomorrow what it was.
I slept for almost four hours last night! 🙂 I know it was almost exactly four hours because I woke up because I coughed so badly just before 1am, I went downstairs drank some water, took a photo of the not yet blood moon and went back to sleep and didn’t wake up until the alarm started at 5am I went out just in time to see the blood moon and tried to take a photo but it was so dark that I would have needed to use the tripod and that was just too much work 🙂
It is time to make some food and I’ll also have a table-spoon of absolutely fresh honey, the beekeeper just gave me a jar 🙂 This year it is a much milder honey, the one he got last year was a tiny bit bitter.
Have a great day!
I thought last night would be rather cough free and it started out that way. I think I slept almost three hours without coughing but then it started. It was a horrible night and I really hope this was the turning point because I don’t think I’ll survive another night like that. I fell asleep in front of the tv now this morning, I slept for almost an hour without coughing but I couldn’t feel my right arm when I woke up, it took almost half an hour to get the circulation in the arm going again 🙂 🙂 🙂
We had frost here in the early morning but I thought it would be much worse than it was because the temperature fell rather quickly already last evening. I did find my winter jacket though because it did feel way to cold to just wear a fleece jacket. I do hope I won’t have to wear it for quite some time more, even if it was really warm and nice. I don’t feel that I’m ready for cold winter days yet.
It was rather nice outside but the cold dry air did make me cough some more so there was no chance of seeing any wild hogs today, they could hear me from miles away 🙂 In fact I was the only thing that could be heard at all this morning, no cars, birds or other animals made a sound, I guess the cold air made most animals to just sit still trying to stay warm until the sun would reach them. It wasn’t until we had arrived here at home that I could hear a few flocks of geese flying south.
Today I’ll do very little, I’ll rest and that’s it. Ok I’ll take a few walks with the dogs but that’s just relaxing. I won’t talk much because I really have no voice left today and it just hurts too much anyway. I will also make myself some waffles, too long since I had that 🙂
Have a great day!
Well to be honest it wasn’t three little pigs, it was three herds of wild hogs 🙂 I was a bit annoyed at myself since we went out a bit too early before the sun rose this morning. We would come home almost at the same time the sun had risen above the mountains up north. So instead of walking home the usual road I decided that we should go to the creek and follow it upstream till we came to the forest road.
I wasn’t to happy about walking in the field before the creek went in to the forest because the grass is pretty high and we had so much dew here this morning that it dripped from the roofs, it actually looked as if it just had stopped raining. I knew we would be soaking wet before we reached the more dry forest. I didn’t say much to the dogs while we were walking there, I was more occupied by looking where the grass were as shortest.
I could see that the dogs were a bit exited and took a look across the creek and there they were, the first of the three herds of wild hogs this morning. They did walk away from the creek but both they and I knew that creek would be too much to cross to reach each other, so they were in no hurry. I just stood there watching them until I realised it would be a good idea to take a few photos too so I could show them here. We continued upstream when I once again realised that both Nova and Sune was a bit too exited, we had another group of them in front of us 🙂
They ran away quickly so I never got a chance to take any photos of them. This is not the time to leash the dogs because if the hogs would attack the dogs would have no chance at all to escape but it is a very good idea to have good control of them anyway 🙂 We came out to the forest road and I kept talking loud since I knew we had one group of hogs behind us and one beside us, so I have to say that I was a bit surprised when we suddenly saw a third group of them. This time it was two sows and two rather old piglets. I kept the dogs very close to me since I didn’t know if there was a boar nearby. So I stopped being annoyed at myself since I actually had gone out just exactly when I should have 🙂
I got my camera yesterday as You know and it is a Zeiss Ikon Super Ikonta 531 and this one was built in Germany just before WW2 started. I didn’t think much about what year it was built until I realised from where it was being shipped to me. It turns out the seller lives in Ukraine! I’m not sure I would have bought it if I knew that since Ukraine hasn’t been the calmest of countries lately. Well anyway, I started to wonder how a WW2 camera ended up in former Soviet Union. The likelihood that someone would have bought it and imported it to the Soviet Union at that time was slim to none, so how did it end up there?
There’s probably a boring reason but my imagination started to work on high speed 🙂 Was it a German soldier who brought it when Germany attacked Soviet? Back in the days this was a fairly expensive camera so I doubt it would be anyone at the front line, perhaps someone coming just behind? Was this camera at the west front when Germany marched in to Paris? and why did it stay in Ukraine? Did the owner freeze to death like so many other soldiers when nothing went their way when winter arrived? Just imagine what stories this camera could teall if it only could speak 🙂
The bellow had a rip in it but that was easily fixed and it has passed the flash light test. The shutter works fine when it comes to high speeds but not so good when it comes to sow speeds. I guess it really would need some new greas, the old kind they used to use has a tendensy to dry up. I’ll see if that is something I can do myself, otherwise I’ll just use the camera on bright sunny days 🙂
It is time for tea with ginger. I slept a few more hours last night so I guess I’m going in the right direction 🙂
Have a great day!
I went to bed quite early last evening and the coughing started immediately, I watched the clock and I know I didn’t get any sleep the first three hours. I don’t think I had slept especially long when I suddenly woke up because I needed to pee after all that tea and water I had been drinking. It must have taken an hour before I fell asleep again and I didn’t sleep long before I woke up for the same reason 🙂 This time however I was so tired that I knew I would fall asleep coughing or not.
I never made it to the bedroom upstairs before I heard Teodor puking and he did it all over the kitchen table. From what I could see he had at least eaten one big rodent and I had to pick up the yuckyness before I went to bed 🙂 This time I decided to sleep in the sofa, sitting up, it usually helps with the coughing. My faithful dogs however decided to let me cough myself to death all by myself, both stayed upstairs in my bed for the rest of the night 🙂 🙂 🙂 It worked just fine but after sleeping an hour my body ached so much so I woke up. I had sort of sunken together in a strange way so it ached everywhere.
Well it was not even ten minutes left until I would have to go up anyway so I started making the dogs food and when they heard that they came down, not a second earlier 🙂 I had to clean Novas ear too and she didn’t forgive me before I went to work, she just looked at me and walked away with her tail between her legs, she didn’t even eat her food. She had forgiven me by the time I came home though 🙂
I had two packages to pick up on my way home from work, one was the camera I bought myself as a birthday present (I’ll show You a photo of it tomorrow, I forgot to photograph it today 🙂 ). It was naturally not the same company who had the delivery, so one was to be picked up in Falköping where I went the last time and the other in Gudhem, in the grocery store. It is amazing that little town like Falköping can have so much traffic during the day and not near enough parking spaces. I was lucky to find a parking space close to the store where the package was but had problems getting out of the parking space when I wanted to continue. People who wanted to get out too just refused to let me out so that the ones wanting my space couldn’t get it 🙂
It took a while but finally I was on the big road again to the grocery store in Gudhem. I went in to get my package when the cashier said, they’ve just picked up all packages because they know we will close the store for good soon. Guess if I felt very tired when he told me that they now had my package in the store I just had left!!! So back I went and was lucky to find a parking space again. Went in to the store and got a bit surprised when they asked me from where the package came because the delivery company had relabeled the package so it now had a new number!!! They did find it eventually and I had the same problems getting out again and this took me one hour longer than it should have if they just had contacted me about the move of the package.
I’m so glad it finally is weekend 🙂 I’ve paid all my bills and I cried a bit inside because this is one of the two months every year when I get all bills at the same time 🙂 But it is done and now I’ll forget about it until next month again 🙂 It is time to make the dogs their food and I think I’ll have some too, I may cough all the time but I haven’t lost my appetite 🙂
Have a great day!
Sorry but the last hour I’ve been coughin so bad that I just have no energy left, or to breathe 🙂 I’m already looking forward to the night, perhaps I should sleep downstairs and try to sleep sitting up.
Se You all tomorrow instead!
Have a great day!
It is a rainy day, not heavy shower day but more like constant drizzle day. It is the kind of foggy drizzle that so easily eats its way through the clothes and make us feel colder than ice in a few minutes. No risk of that happening to me today since I’m staying indoors the entire time. the dogs will have to be happy to just go out into the garden. The birds seem to like this weather though, they are tweeting like crazy in the bushes now. I think I’ll go outside to fill the feeders for the first time this season.
It feels like I am at a turning point when it comes to the cold, the fever is rushing either up or down all the time and even though I cough less it hurts more when I do 🙂 I have now made tea twice without putting any tea in the water 🙂 🙂 🙂 So all I get is hot water with some cloves and cardamom because I put those spices directly in the pot 🙂 So I guess that the fever is rushing upwards at the moment 🙂 🙂 🙂 Now I need to boil more water, again 🙂
I’ve just made a tomato sauce, just in case I’m going to work tomorrow. I sometimes order food from a nearby restaurant but to be honest, that money is just wasted, the food taste absolutely nothing. We always know when they have a new chef because suddenly someone is using spices in the food 🙂 It usually lasts a week and then I guess they force him to stop making the food actually taste something, I guess they reason that the food must go well with everyone so don’t use spices too much. So I make my own food most of the time.
A rather boring thing with colds is that one can’t feel any taste, so either I totally failed doing this sauce or it can be so hot and salt that I won’t be able to eat it 🙂 Well it can’t be worse than the restaurant food 🙂 I have also watched the eight first episodes of the seventh season of Big Bang Theory 🙂 I finally started watching them, it is odd but sometimes the anticipation before watching something is just as good as actually watching them 🙂 But I said to myself, what if something happens to me so I won’t be able to watch those shows? wouldn’t that just be a total waste of money really?! I’m so glad I started watching today 🙂 I’ve missed them all so much!
It is time to drink another pot of tea and after that perhaps watch the second dvd with Big Bang Theory but not all episodes at once, I think it’s best to spread them over a longer period, after all it will take some time until the eighth season comes out on dvd 🙂
Have a great day!
I’m staying at home today, I didn’t get much sleep during the night. I was freezing half the nigh, boiling the other and in between it all I coughed. Colds are the funniest things to get, aren’t they 🙂 I’m not sure the cold knows if it is coming or going but I sure wish it could decide what to do, this is just annoying.
Yesterday turned out to be quite pleasant, the sun won the fight towards the fog and it shone for most parts of the day and it became rather warm too. Today the predictions varies a lot, the Swedish site says cloudy all day with no sunshine and the Norwegian says lots of sunshine but some clouds too. I chose to believe the Norwegian one 🙂 The sky is cloudy at the moment but I can see huge rips up there that reveals a clear blue sky.
I’ll nap a lot today and in between naps I’ll read a book I think. I have no ginger left but I thought why not have some ground cloves instead. I think I remember something about cloves and that it did help when one had a cold but that could just be wishful thinking 🙂 It tastes rather yummy in the tea though and it made me think of christmas and gingerbread 🙂
It is time to make that tea and then I’ll have that first nap. No photos from today but I have plentu to pick from since I’ve saved loads ion the folder “For a rainy day” and I still have lots of Minolta photos to show as well.
Have a great day!
I woke up in the middle of the night because my throat hurt so badly and I didn’t even try to swallow anything, it just ached so badly. It still aches but not nearly close to what it was like in the middle of the night. It does however feel like my lungs will fall of every time I cough 🙂 🙂 I have no fever though and I guess and hope that’s a good sign.
We’re having a rather nice morning here, it started with heavy fog and it is still quite foggy but the sun does its best to wipe it away. So far it isn’t especially successful though 🙂 It is still quite chilly, I thought we might get frost during the night but that never happened. There’s very little flies left so I don’t mind that the frost never arrived, especially since we got this wonderfully foggy morning.
We started our walk by walking in to the village, the fog was so think that it didn’t matter that I now have autofocus to rely on, the camera couldn’t find anything to focus on 🙂 I also brought the old Rolleicord, it is loaded with black and white film and I wondered how good the fog will show in those photos. I did try to photograph a spider web with the old one but the entire camera was so fogged up that I’m not sure I focused on the web or anything else 🙂 I still have two photos to take on that roll so it’ll take some time until, we can see the results.
We turned down to the fields when we were almost at home again, as long as Orvar and Hector still were around I didn’t dare going for too long since I never knew if they would make it all the way home but both Nova and Sune needs to run around more than they have lately (and to be honest, I need it a lot too 🙂 ). Just as we turned down to the fields lots of hunters came and I wonder why. It isn’t moose hunting season yet and I thought for a while that it might be a hunt for wild hogs but I could only see a tiny Beagle and I doubt they’ll use that for wild hog. That little dog would just be a nice breakfast for them.
Still, I am bit confused that they all came here since it is so foggy even in the forest, they can’t see a thing. The sun is losing the battle against the fog too at the moment, it looks like it is getting thicker again. I don’t mind, that would only mean I’ll get a chance to get more foggy photos later today 🙂 The cold air did also help with my throat and lungs so I hope we’ll have this weather all day long.
It is time to make a big pot of tea and I’ll put all the ginger I have at home in it, I don’t have that much ginger at home so I’m hoping to shock the system with it all at the same time 🙂
Have a great day!
I went to work this morning, by my own free will 🙂 That is something that rarely happens to be honest but I didn’t go there to paint anything, I went there to wash the painting box. I do that with distilled water every Friday morning but every sixth months or so I need stronger stuff to get it clean. I need to wash it several times so it isn’t anything one can do on a normal working day because it would just take too long to get the painting box dry again.
The powder contains some wax and that stuck to the walls and needs to be removed, if not the powder paint just moves slightly on the walls and is almost impossible to get rid of. Until one tries to remove the next paint we’re using and then some of it mixes with the other color and after that I’ll never have any clean color again 🙂
The best thing to use is thinner but then there must be at least one more person there and both of us must have proper breathing equipment or our brains will start to melt away. Another problem is that I’m not sure if all the fumes will have disappeared until we start painting again so it isn’t a good thing to use. I can also use methylated spirits and even if it stinks something bad it still doesn’t melt my brain 🙂
So I brought Sune and Nova with me and went to the factory. No one else showed up while I was there and that was a relief since no one should be there. One time when I was working on a Saturday there also was at least one burglar there too 🙂 Ok, I had four 100 pond dogs with me so I wasn’t especially worried 🙂 Nova and Sune however are much smaller but dogs always scare people if they don’t know them and if they are burglars 🙂
We went to where I lived before I moved here to the village at the outskirts of the world. I had planned to walk in the forest with them but hunters were out hunting so we stayed on the roads by the fields and to the castle that once was built there. It is the youngest castle in Sweden and is just slightly older than 100 years. It has a somewhat interesting history but I’ll tell You more about that when the film rolls from the old cameras are developed. I might have destroyed the film I had in the Hasselblad camera because I dropped it when I was going to tape it together. Light must have leaked in and most likely on the photos I took by the castle. I also had the digital camera with me and the Rolleicord.
Trees have grown big since I moved away fifteen years ago so I couldn’t see the cottage I lived in from where we walked but to be honest, it looks much the same as the cottage I live in now 🙂 It is time to make a pot of tea and after that I think I’ll take a nap.
Have a great day!
The cold seems to stay calm which I’m grateful for, work friends who have had it got up to 40C fever (104F) and that’s not nice at all. So I’ll stop complaining about aching joints, stuffed nose and a sour throat as long as I don’t get worse 🙂 I do feel better already though so I guess I missed it this time.
The work day did pass rather quickly but still it felt like eons before I could leave. All I was thinking about was that I was going to get the new lens after work. It had arrived to the post office at the grocery store in Gudhem yesterday so I went there directly after work. The once rather big grocery store has now shrunken to a third of its previous size and today they also lost the contract to have the post office there.
Naturally the post service then had fetched my package and left it in a big store in Falköping instead, it took almost one hour longer to get home just because of that. I guess this means that the store in Gudhem won’t be around for much longer, it’s a good thing that we now days can order food from some of the big food chains and get it delivered at our doors, not all people have cars and the loss of the grocery store and the post office will make their lives difficult.
I changed lens the first thing I did when I came home and it is so nice to have autofocus once again 🙂 Some days it’s just impossible to focus manually, especially early mornings when the eyes really doesn’t want to do much at all but to sleep a while longer even if the brain says otherwise 🙂 Now I’m just waiting for that camera to arrive but I guess that’ll take some time more. You’ll understand what I mean when I tell You the whole story 🙂
The wind is really strong today, even the SAAB was tossed around every now and again on the way to the store that is placed at the top of the mountain. It isn’t raining any longer and it looks like the sun is trying to reach through the clouds to give us a pleasant afternoon, it looks like it is failing at the moment 🙂
It is time to make something to eat and then I think I’ll fall asleep in front of the tv 🙂
Have a great day!
I’m not sure what to write about today, nothing much has happened. The cold is still there just waiting for a chance to break out and the energy is still on low. I must admit that the day has passed rather quickly though, I haven’t had much time to look at the clock on the wall at work.
The weather could have been funnier, sometimes it rains and sometimes it doesn’t. No sunshine at all and fairly windy most of the time. Rather warm though so I have had the kitchen door open for a while now after work. We’ll get lots of more rain tonight and I guess the mushrooms are happy about it because they are now popping up everywhere.
I met my neighbor when we went out for our walk after work and he told me the wild hogs now have started to destroy the forest road, or the clean road as I cal it since grass covers most of it and the only thing the dogs get is wet when walking there on rainy days. He was right, so far they’ve only dug it up in small patches but they’ll soon rip it up totally. I’m not sure what the hunters will do about it but they have decided to do something about it because the hogs are now only a few yards away from the nearest house.
TOmorrow I’ll go to the store in Gudhem to get my new tele-photo lens but I’m still waiting for the camera. The camera has a pretty long way to go until it comes to me so I guess I won’t get it until next week sometime. It is time to get something to eat and then I’ll watch the news on tv.
Have a great day!
The rain poured down all night and continued for a long time during the day too, well I won’t complain because it looks like I’ve washed my car 🙂 I am however glad the wind has calmed down, I do like to fall asleep to the sound of a strong wind but it is no fun in driving around in it. Much better now days though since the SAAB is quite heavy. My little Mazda that I had before got tossed around in the most nasty ways sometimes and I don’t miss that at all 🙂
It is my birthday today and I usually don’t celebrate it but I tend to have it as an excuse to buy me something that I want. Last year I bought myself the Hasselblad camera and two lenses, this year is cheaper thankfully but yes one of the things is a camera and I’ll tell You more about it when it arrives. The second thing was something I didn’t expect to get. I saw this telephoto lens on the pawn shops auction site. It is the same I already have but the auto focus doesn’t work on that one I already have.
It was less than an hour before the auction would end and the price was only half of what it would cost as new, so I placed a bid and forgot about it. No one else placed another bid, which is odd because this is a good lens and many usually wants it so now it’s on its way here. I guess I’ll have it before the weekend arrives. Pawn shops used to be a good place to get rid of stolen things but not so any more, the one selling an item, private or a business, must know it isn’t stolen. If they would sell a stolen thing and get caught they would go down for receiving and selling stolen goods. They write down serial numbers and anything else so it is easy to check it oneself.
It is time to make something to eat and to watch the news.
Have a great day!
I would exaggerate if I said we’re having a storm here today but the winds are strong, so strong that they made it hard to keep the car in the middle of the road on my way home. I know I shouldn’t be surprised any longer but the prediction yesterday said we would get rain this evening but nothing before that. It started pouring down last evening at 9 pm and continued all night and almost to noon today 🙂 They now predict rain all night so I wouldn’t be surprised if nothing fell at all 🙂
What looked to become a very good apple year turned out to be a very bad one instead. The few apples that actually are hanging in the trees are small but very colorful. I have four apple trees in my garden and I doubt I’ll get enough to make an apple pie. I got almost no gooseberries and very few currants but lots of blueberries instead. I got more Aronia berries than I’ve ever gotten but they are so tart it is impossible to eat them. I’m glad the deers like them though, they have eaten loads of them 🙂
I think I’ll get me some blackberry bushes next year, we have wild ones just around the corner here and I found several ripe ones this year (and they were pretty big too!)! That rarely happens since the bushes grow where the sun rarely reach and the frost comes early. They are barely hardy here though but I think I’ll get some of those already growing here, I won’t tell You how just in case I’ll do it the illegal way 🙂 but I have already saved some seeds so I’ll sow them later this week.
It is time to make some food and today I’ll also have a cup of cocoa, autumn is here 🙂
Have a great day!
I want to thank You all for the kind comments in the previous post!
The day has an ominous feeling to it, You know the kind the people in disaster films always have before it all happens but they ignore until it is too late. The weather is unsettled, winds pretty strong and it’s only possible to see that the sun shines through edgy rips in the clouds.
I doubt any disaster will happen though, I can also feel like this just before I get a stomach flu and I think that’s more likely to be the reason 🙂 But isn’t it typical, we’ve had really nice weather all week, sunny warm days and chilly clear nights but as soon as the weekend starts so does the bad weather. I have to admit that it hasn’t rained but still, would it be so awful if we actually had some sunshine during the weekends too?
I’ve done the laundry and it is now hanging on the patio to dry so I have done all chores I was supposed to do. Well the grass isn’t mowed in a long time but I need some sunshine to dry it up before I even try that and there’s no risk of that happening until earliest next weekend. We’ll get lots of rain this coming week, glimpses of sunshine yes but not enough to dry anything up.
So I’ll stay calm as much as possible today, hoping that no stomach flu arrives despite the feeling. Nova will most likely stay close to me all the time and Sune will be staying by the door, waiting for Orvar to return. They were best of friends and were never far away from each other. Bertil also stays close to me now, he looked at Orvar as if he was his brother and is worried that he isn’t showing up. But life goes on and hopefully it will take at least ten years until I have to say goodbye to any of them again.
Have a great day!
I went to the vet with Orvar early this morning. He had given up totally and hadn’t eaten for a few days. Now he’s with his brother again.
I’ll take a few days off and see You all on Sunday again.
No frost last night but I’m pretty sure we’ll get it tonight. They are predicting 4C (39F) and here in little Siberia that usually means below 0C (32F) and frost. The night will be clear too so a thick layer of frost on my car tomorrow won’t be a surprise to me. I was a bit surprised this morning however, I opened the kitchen door to let Sune out for a while and in to the garden jumped a doe.
She didn’t care about Sune at all and he couldn’t care less of her. I closed the door as soon as he came in and she started eating the berries on the Aronia bush. I’ve always thought it was the birds that ate them 🙂 The berries are, kindly said, nasty tart 🙂 and I can’t understand how they have become popular to have in juice and jams. The health freaks eat lots of them too because they are fully packed with vitamines and anti oxidants but they just taste nasty 🙂 I suddenly remembered that I needed socks while she was eating those berries and went outside, she was gone within a second 🙂
I forgot to tell You yesterday what I saw on my way to work. I pass a huge stable where a trotting trainer have all his horses. Every morning they tale them out to the paddocks and it does happen that those rather nervous horses take their chance to run away while they are walking to the paddock so I always drive slow until I passed the place. Yesterday I saw one horse running like crazy in a small grove of trees. It ran fast but it looked a bit odd. I can’t say what it was but something wasn’t right.
I drove so slow that I almost stood still with the car when I saw the horse standing in a ditch. It was then I also saw a person hanging to the bridle 🙂 From what I can understand by seeing this the man had never let go of the bridle and just been forced to hold on for his life 🙂 The poor man looked a bit shaken to put it mildly and his clothes had seen better days. All cars that now had arrived to the place stood absolutely still, first we wanted to see if the man could walk at all and that he could but he did limp badly. Then we stood still until he had come so far away that the sound from our cars wouldn’t stress the horse to do something similar again. I guess that man still doesn’t feel too well and I do hope he loves horses otherwise I doubt he still works there 🙂
It is time for something to eat and to check that the radiators are on, the night will be a tad chilly I think 🙂
Have a great day!
I thought it wouldn’t arrive in time this year but it did on the last day of the first seven days in september. I’m talking about the frost. To be honest, it did feel cold but not that cold and the thermometer didn’t show that it was below 0C (32F). But I realised it had arrived when there was a thick layer of ice on my car 🙂 It was parked outside the garage just where the bog starts a bit lower than where my cottage stand.
I looked t the thermometer when I came home and it had dropped to 0,8C (33,4F) after I had left for work. The day was rather pretty today, sunny and almost warm but as soon as I stopped working the clouds arrived and if they stay during the night we won’t have frost again. I wouldn’t mind if we had though, there were considerable less flies out flying when we were out walking after work. Not that there were so extremely many before either but I could notice a big difference.
Nothing much else has happened today, it has been slow and sometimes it felt like the day never would pass at all but like always it did 🙂 I bought a big cheese cake on my way home, the Swedish variety. It is so big that I won’t be able to eat it all today 🙂 I hope I have some raspberry jam to have with it but I’m not sure. I do know I have gooseberry jam so that’ll have to do if I don’t have any raspberry.
It is time to put it in the oven and then I’ll eat half of it in front of the tv 🙂
Have a great day!
We’ve not had the nicest of weathers since yesterday afternoon. Strong winds, heavy rainfalls and high humidity and nor forgetting low temperatures. I know it was just the same during the night because I woke up and went downstairs. All the dogs were farting badly and just as I opened the door I realised Orvar also had a really bad stomach, we all noticed that when he farted on his way out. My kitchen still smell like chlorine this morning 🙂
We didn’t get out on a walk until way after 8am because of the bad weather but now I can see that the clouds are getting thinner and I almost saw the sun there for a while. They say we’ll get sunshine this afternoon and it will last for the rest of the week. I wouldn’t be surprised if the first frost comes next week if the sky is clear during the night, it would normally have come here this week but it has just been too cloudy during the nights to allow that to happen.
As You all know by now I almost never buy plants in fear of getting the Spanish slug to this area. That slug has no natural enemies here so it spreads like crazy and eat everything it reaches. Some people kill over 1000 every day in their gardens (and they become pretty big those slugs), otherwise they would have very little left in their gardens at all. There is however one slug that injures them and often also kill them, the Leopard slug (we call it the Panther slug), Limax maximus. I can happily now tell You that I have loads of the Leopard slug in my garden 🙂 It seems they like my warm compost and have multiplied there in big numbers 🙂 I did think I had unusually few slugs at all this summer 🙂
They only eat decaying plant parts so I will take care of these slugs as if they were my own children 🙂 🙂 🙂 Even if the Spanish one would try to get in to my garden it will most likely not be especially successful and that makes me happy 🙂 I guess that these slugs can be a reason the badgers like my garden so much that they visit it every night, they just love a juicy slug 🙂 It isn’t often one hear anyone being happy because they have lots of slugs in their garden 🙂
It is time to do the laundry and after that I’ll have a pot of tea and a small nap in front of the tv 🙂
Have a great day!
Today is one of those kind of days when one can sleep it all away without getting a bad conscience, cold (barely reached 10C, 50F), high humidity and drizzly most of the time. I’ve already napped for an hour but that’s because I woke up around 2:30 last night and had difficulties falling asleep again. I must have dosed of on and off but I do remember long periods thinking if I just as well wouldn’t get up.
Both the Norwegian and Swedish forecasts says lots of rain either this evening or tonight and both says we’ll have rather wonderful weather on Monday again 🙂 I’m pretty sure they are right about the rest of the day and tomorrow and wouldn’t be surprised if they were right about Monday as well 🙂
Before I took that nap I opened the door to let out Teodor, he stood there for a while and turned back in, he’s not a fan of any kind of rain, not even drizzling. I took a look at the garden and looked straight in to a doe’s eyes 🙂 I recognise her by now and it is the one that follows us with the Deerstalker 🙂 We looked at each other for a short while before I closed the door and she slowly walking towards the fence.
Almost every year since I moved here we’ve gotten the first night with frost this week, at latest on the seventh but I’m pretty sure that won’t happen this year. How strange that feels 🙂 It could happen on the night towards Monday though because we’ll have a clear sky but no predictions show even close to those low temperatures. I don’t mind but it would kill off those last flies in the field and a few of the moose flies in the forest. We would still have flies around, these old tree cottages gives them plenty of places to hide from the killing cold nights and even through winter.
I think it is time to take another walk with the dogs before any heavy rain starts to fall. I could do lots of things inside the cottage but I feel I deserve a day of doing nothing but being lazy 🙂
Have a great day!
We have thunder clouds hanging around today again but still no thunder. It was a pretty nice day before they arrived, lots of sunshine and rather warm but now it’s mostly cloudy and rather chilly. It’s just beneath 13C (55,4F) and the air has the feeling of a just passed thunderstorm but no thunderstorm has passed, very odd!
I still haven’t been able to see any of the photos I mailed to be developed last week and that’s a bit odd too. They are usually very fast in developing the films, so now I’m starting to wonder if something has happened to the film rolls. I’ll mail them if nothing turns up later today. I really would like to get these rolls developed because I have plenty of photos taken outside this village and I would like to see if I managed to stop the light leaks in the old Rolleicord.
I couldn’t wait any more so I called them 🙂 They have a prolonged period at the moment so I will get my photos some time next week. I told them that as long as I know the rolls are there I’ll be very patient and I also told them that I thought they did a fantastic job and that I liked their service a lot. It’s never wrong to tell people that one think they are doing a very good job, that happens too seldom in my opinion.
The sun is back again and so is the higher temperatures so I opened the kitchen door so that Nova can sleep on the stairs again and Sune on the ground just outside. We’re all just waiting for the time I’m starting preparing our food. They’ll have their usual and I’ll have some sausages and hotdog breads. The dogs will have some sausages too of course 🙂
We” I better stop here and start with our food, I haven’t eaten anything proper since 5am so it is about time I had something to stop from feeling hungry 🙂
Have a great day!
A lazy thunderstorm is slowly closing in to the village. It seems to take for ever to move. I shouldn’t have been surprised that it started because I could clearly see thunder clouds but sort of didn’t understand anyway. We heard the first rumble when we were out walking after work.
I looked at the real-time lightning map on my phone and saw that it wa south of Falköping and I live north og the town so we were in no hurry home. It looked like it was going to miss us but now it hit just a mile or two away. Still it takes rather long time between the lightnings though so it might have passed us before the next one hits the ground 🙂
Well I better get of the computer just in case. Even if it is a mobile connection I use it has happened that the lightning hits mobile phones and I have the same connection on my laptop. The day passed really fast though, I worked in the neighbor factory all day and tomorrow is Friday and I stop working at noon 🙂
Have a great day!
I don’t think we’ve gotten especially much rain here in the village but strong winds and drizzle made me decide that we shouldn’t take a walk when I came home after work. The dogs didn’t seem to mind either, they didn’t even go out into the garden even if the door stood open for a while after they had eaten their food.
The day passed rather quickly even if it is a Tuesday. I was working in the neighbor factory today so I didn’t have a chance to see any clocks unless I opened the door to the paintbox. It was so nice to be in that paintbox even if the air is dangerously toxic 🙂 The climate in there is always nice because the temperature stays around 20C (68F) and the ventilation is so strong that it feels like I’m standing in a nice breeze most of the time 🙂
Very different from my normal work place where it’s always hot with a high humidity. I think I’ve gotten more sensitive towards heat since I started working there, now days I have no problems going outside in a t-shirt even if it is below 0C (32F), I actually like it a lot :-)I wish I could love the rain in the same way too but I guess the high humidity in my work place stops me from doing that 🙂
Do You remember me writing about a third Minolta camera that sort of came along when I bought the XGM? and that it needed an autofocus lens if I would be able to check if it worked at all? Well, I bought a very cheap autofocus lens and it arrived in the mail today. I also bought the AAA batteries that the camera needed to work at all and it looks like it works just fine. Now I need to find a manual so I can put some film in it and try it. It looks like it is either fully auto mode or fully manual mode but I haven’t figured out how to adjust it yet. Sooner or later I’ll show photos from that camera too.
