This is a not doing much day, it is grey and somewhat foggy outside but rather warm even if it isn’t even remotely close to what they predicted earlier in the week. At least it isn’t raining even if we actually need quite a lot of rain now, most smaller creeks are now totally dry and even the bigger ones show signs of a draught here now. I don’t mind to be honest, I’m hoping this might kill lots of fly larvae who needs wet or moist ground to survive.
We went down to the bog and the smaller creek today but I turned around quickly when I suddenly had at least four moose flies crawling around on my arms and hands at the same time. I think I had a few in my hair as well and that is truly a nasty feeling. They don’t die if one hits them either, they just shrug a bit and keeps on crawling around. Their bite is nasty and they spread the same diseases as ticks do. A moose fly looks very much like deer lice and I truly hate them. We really need a really cold night so they all die!
I couldn’t get rid of that feeling some were crawling around in my hair so as soon as I came home I shaved it all off 🙂 It was time to do so anyway but this helped me to actually do it 🙂 There were no in my hair though and it still feels like they are there 🙂 So now I need to find my baseball cap to wear as soon as we walk in to the forest again, there’s no need for one otherwise because it’s so warm still.
It is time to start thinking of a photo to use as christmas card. I have a few old ones that I can use but I still have time to photograph something else if I want to. Traditional christmas cards here usually have red birds, like the Bullfinch, the Yule gnome of course. Pigs are rather common too and sometimes if it shows the nature there’s usually Red toadstools in them too. So the ultimate card should show all of those I think but I doubt I’ll manage to get them all in to one photo 🙂 Especially the gnome will be tough to get 🙂
It is time to make a pot of tea and perhaps we’ll manage to take another walk before it gets dark again. Today the sun rose at 7:17 am and it will set at 4:20 pm and the days just continues to be shorter and shorter.
Have a great day!
The day has been grey and gloomy and nothing much has happened. I worked in the neighbor factory today and came back just in time to our weekly meeting. A work friend had his 50th birthday not long ago so he brought us something we call sandwich cake. I’ve heard that this is something very Swedish so I don’t know if You know what it is. Here’s a link to some different ones I found on Google: Smörgåstårta A new window should pop up if You click on the red text.
It should be made a few days ahead to taste as best. The one we had today was delicious and one of the layers in it was filled with liver pate, something we Swedes love and often have on our sandwiches. But it can also be made with for example tuna and shrimps and the more luxurious ones can be made with lobster, nephrops and perhaps crab and shrimps too 🙂 I ate so much that I’ve decided not to have any dinner but instead make a bowl with vanilla yoghurt, apple slices and cinnamon :-)There’s quite often fruit in it too, today there was pears and peaches in some layers and there’s always lots of mayo 🙂
We had a rather nice walk after work and I haven’t done much after that. It sounds as if they’re showing a Christmas episode of Simpsons on tv, normally they tend to show the old Halloween episodes now. I guess it doesn’t hurt to see something else for a change 🙂
It is time for that yoghurt and after that I’ll read two comic magazines 🙂
Have a great day!
I went to the vehicle inspection again yesterday so it would be ok to keep on driving for yet another year and all went well but the inspector found that the petrol tank belt they had changed some weeks ago was attached in the wrong way, the guy who did it put in a lot of work to do it right but his brain sort of stopped working just as he placed that belt and did it in the wrong way so it can move and eventually fall off 🙂
He had even put in an extra security thingymajig but never used it 🙂 so I drove to the garage and they’ll fix it next Friday. I ordered new winter tires at the same time, winter might come any day now even if the predictions says it won’t the coming ten days but You all know what I think of those predictions 🙂 All the other work that had been done was ok though so now I don’t have to think about the vehicle inspection for another year 🙂 They are talking about not having this inspection every year any longer but every second year instead.
On one hand I like that because I get so stressed every time but then again, they do pick away the worst cars from the roads and I always know if I need to fix anything so my car won’t be dangerous to drive and I’m pretty sure they will make it even more expensive to do it when we only have to go every second year. So perhaps already next year I’ll be lucky/ unlucky to not have the inspection, it all depends on how one looks at it.
It is time for some food and I think I’ll make some cocoa too. They said that we wouldn’t have any frost here for a while so I wasn’t the least surprised that we had it this morning and it does feel rather chilly outside right now so I wouldn’t be the least surprised if we had frost tomorrow morning as well 🙂
Have a great day!
The moon is full covered by a thin vail of clouds and the fog is slowly moving across the ground now. It feels like frost would arrive at any minute now but the clouds will be thicker the longer we move into the night so I’ll not scrape the car windows tomorrow morning they say.
I only had half an hour left to work when suddenly all went dark with a bang for a few seconds at work. The light came back but nothing worked as it should after that. The air compressor seems to have died and I really need that one to work if my machines will be able to work too. Thankfully they have an old spare one that they started just before I was leaving. But the painting machine behaved odd for a while too, it refused to blow back the powder that doesn’t stick to the material we’re painting.
I don’t know how or why but suddenly it worked again. The ventilation gave up too so they had to call the maintenance man who just had left work, I hope he can start it up again because the ovens and the big washing machine just makes it too hot in the paint department if it doesn’t work. No one knows why this happened so we started talking about the big asteroid that will pass between earth and the moon on Halloween. We said that smaller objects now were hitting the earth making the electricity stop for shorter periods of time and then the big one will hit even if they say it won’t 🙂 🙂 🙂
I guess it might be time to send up those old film stars so they can blow it up, after all they did it in the film Armageddon 🙂 🙂
It is time for something to eat and I think I’ll have cocoa today.
Have a great day!
I really don’t like the change of time, today I woke up at three am. For three weeks I’ve started an hour earlier every morning so I’ve been up around 4:40 in the morning and today we went back to normal hours which means I can sleep an hour longer but my brain really didn’t understand that so we woke up an hour earlier than last week 🙂 I wish they just stopped this nonsense.
But I did get a beautiful sunrise right in my eyes when I drove to work and a beautiful sunset when I drove home. it was more or less pitch black when I came home and since I couldn’t find any flashlight we never took any walk after work. I’ll have one tomorrow, restless dogs is no fun to have indoors 🙂
Lots of refugees are coming to Sweden now, mostly people from Syria but also from the other war hit countries nearby like Afghanistan and Iraq. So many are coming that we now have problems to find any places for them to live. I heard of one place far north called Riksgränsen (something like the border of the kingdom or realm). It is a rather well known place to go skiing downhill but the hotels don’t open up until February so there are plenty of space to stay at right now.
The refugees like it but the reporter described the place like “Something from the book The Shining 🙂 🙂 🙂 Almost no people live up there and this time of year it’s shut down and deserted and I can understand how he was thinking but lets hope it stays by that 🙂 We also have lots of poor people from south-eastern Europe here begging outside populated areas like stores. I’ve seen photos and reportage on tv that shows how they live in their home countries so I can fully understand why they go up here to get some money, they really have no hope where they are living.
We even have a lady sitting outside the grocery store in the village where I work. We talk Swedish with her and she answers in her language 🙂 Many of these beggars are threatened and abused but so far this woman has been treated well. I guess those who hated these people forgot about them now when all the refugees comes, I guess it is hard to spread the hate towards several groups at the same time. Many of these people from southern Europe have realised that people tend to be kinder to them if they instead of begging sell things instead, so now many weave baskets or make other things that they sell to people passing by. I doubt however that this would work as well in such a small village as the one I work in.
It is time to make something to eat and then some tv I think. No photos from today since it was dark when I came home.
Have a great day!
This has been one of those days that despite wonderful weather outside I’ve mostly been indoors doing very little. I did take a nap today too but this time I think I only slept for an hour 🙂 but I must admit that if it hadn’t been for Sune, he really wanted to go outside, I would most likely kept on sleeping for a few more hours.
I have done the laundry though and we have been out for a few walks but that’s it. I hope this is the last fight from the cold so I’ll get ny energy back again, especially since it from now on will be dark on my way to work and dark when I’m driving home again. I really need to win the lottery so I can get some daylight during winter too 🙂
I think we’ll go out for a walk again before the sun sets and it will get dark. After that I think I’ll need a pot of tea to be able to stay awake more than an hour 🙂
Have a great day!
We’re having a grey and dull here with the occasional dripping from the sky. Not especially bad to be honest but not nice enough to want me to go outside. We did have sunshine this morning for around ten minutes and I guess that’ll be all we get today.
I thought it would be nice to take a small nap after the walk and slept for over three hours 🙂 I guess I really need it since I’ve now had this cold for four weeks. I do feel a bit better though so I hope it’ll be all over after this weekend.
Tomorrow we’ll go back to normal time again and we’ll also stop working those earlier hours at work as we’ve had for three weeks now. I can’t say I like either change because now it’ll be dark when I drive to work and dark when I come home again. More and more people are protesting about the daylight savings time and we all want to have British time all year round instead. Naturally the politicians refuse to do anything like that even though they now know lots of people die of heart attacks just because of the time change.
I’m baking rye bread right now and today I’m making it with the left over vanilla/ apple yoghurt, rosemary and some honey. Smells rather nice now when it is rising and I’m pretty sure it will taste good too 🙂 I never follow any recipe, I just toss in what I think might taste good, the only thing I always have the same is the amount of fluid I’ll have in it so I know how much flour I’ll need.
It is time to take out the bread and knead it some more before the second rising and then in to the oven.
Have a great day!
It’s a warm and sunny but slightly windy day here, last time I looked the temperature had reached 14C (57,2F) and our after work walk was really nice. I had my winter jacket on and as soon as we were out of reach for the wind it got too warm wearing it 🙂
I drove to the garage directly after work, the last thingy would be changed that they got an error code on and I don’t think it took five minutes to change it. The garage owner however was out on an errand when I arrived and the employee didn’t know exactly what was supposed to be done so we both stood outside in the sunshine leaning towards the wall and just enjoyed life.
I still haven’t paid the bill though, he doesn’t want me to do that until he knows the car is ok. So I asked him if I would start to cry when I finally saw it but he said no, no 🙂 They have only put in used but functioning parts now because the car is old and soon it won’t be economical to repair it. This time however I have already paid so much in repair costs that I really need to keep it for at least one more yer 🙂 I do like my car and I will keep it for as long as possible.
Now I’ll drive around with this new thingy in my car for a few days so we know that it works as it should and that the car stops coughing while I drive around in it 🙂 I need to buy new winter tires too soon but I hope this warm weather continues for quite some time because I’m so tired of paying car bills right now 🙂
Yesterday a nazi went in to a school here in Sweden and stabbed two people to death with a knife. Two more are badly injured but it sounds as if they’ll survive. The nazi himself got shot by the police and died later in the evening too. Lately several refugee centers have been burned down so even if I got surprised that something like the school killing happened it still wasn’t totally unexpected. I’m afraid the brown ghost has risen again.
It is time to get something to eat and I’ll have a big pot of tea with it. I think I’ll watch some tv, not because there’s anything interesting but I do sleep so well in front of it 🙂
Have a great day!
Nothing much has happened since Tuesday and I can’t think of anything to write about but they have finally developed my film rolls. From what I’ve seen so far one roll only have a few photos that are anything to have, the rest are too dark and just look strange.
The best photos seems to come from the old Edixa with a Soviet lens called Jupiter 11. That lens is really good but this one is a bit odd because they did something wrong when they put it together, it says the aperture is as biggest when it actually is the smallest and the opposite 🙂 🙂 🙂 It was a bit tricky to use it but I figured out how to use it anyway.
The Soviet factories didn’t always have the materials they needed and the quality could be rather sad even if it was something they wanted to export to the western world. I guess that the one checking the quality for this lens either were asleep or drunk 🙂 But it works and is good, I just need to rethink how I’ll adjust it 🙂
I’ll leave You with some photos taken with the Edixa and the Jupiter lens.
Have a great day!
We didn’t have frost or fog this morning, they finally got it right with the weather prediction 🙂 It was so nice to not have to scrape the car windows and to actually be able to see the road I was driving on 🙂 The big road (the one You could see photos from here in an earlier post) was almost totally empty and the car behaved as it should, I got this feeling of harmony and the feeling of that nothing can go wrong, so I was thinking that I could just go on driving until I had no more petrol in my car and then just keep going until the ocean would stop me.
But I knew that those feelings soon would disappear when I came to a cross-road some miles away and then it would all go back to normal anyway. So I turned where I was supposed to and drove to work. It wasn’t too bad to work either to be honest and the day passed rather quickly. I’ll be working in the neighbor factory tomorrow and on Thursday so those days will pass fast too even if I’ll be painting really big things that weighs around 500kg ( over 1100 pounds) hanging in the air and really heavy to move even if I have the right equipment.
This was what I could think of writing today, my mind is quite blank and I think I need more vanilla yoghurt with sliced apples and cinnamon 🙂
