I called them again today.

Older photos again, new ones won't show here until Friday.

Older photos again, new ones won’t show here until Friday.

I woke up this morning to a world covered in white garbage, or snow as most people call it. I couldn’t understand why I couldn’t open the door so the dogs could go outside and I threw myself towards the door (and I’m not a light weight person) and it opened up just enough so I could see the snow. I did the same three times until the door was open enough to let the dogs run out. I wasn’t happy at all. It was heavy wet and semi-frozen snow that had built up towards the door and I think we got around 10cm (4 inches) of it. The temperature is above 0C (32F) so the snow is melting away in a slow pace.Β

Imagine these photos but with snow and You'll know how it looked here today :-)

I just made it to work without coming too late, I think I had a few seconds left before I had been late to work πŸ™‚ Anyway, I called the ones who have my application for the new system. The one who handles my application texted me and said she was sick so I should talk to another one who works at her team. I told her the same thing as I had told them the last time I called and she explained to me what usually happens when one applies for a new system.

DSC_0057 (4)

DSC_0060 (3)

She said that they normally after going through the application drives out again to see where the shower water, washing water and dish washing water will so to speak have its end station so I don’t lead the water towards an area they don’t think I should lead it. When everything is decided they’ll approve of the application and I’ll have plenty of time to fix what I need to fix. Unless You have been forbidden to use the sewer system You have. I’m pretty sure they would have sent me a letter telling me if I was forbidden to use the sewer system I have, so at the moment I’m calm again πŸ™‚ She also said that since I had sent them the application the ball now lay in their court so it was up to them to give me time enough (unless I was forbidden and so on πŸ™‚ )

I do have a back up plan though if I would get any problems. I have a work friend who’s a farmer and he owns a few properties with houses and if I would get any problems I would simply move to one of those houses until mine was fixed. The good thing is that one of his neighbors are old friends of mine from Gothenburg who also moved up the this part of the country. They have dogs and they have dog yards so I would ask them if I could rent one of their dog houses/ yards while I had to live there. Very close to a highway though so I think we all would feel stressed at the beginning πŸ™‚

So at the moment it looks ok again but I still have my backup plan just in case πŸ™‚ It is time to relax and I’ll have some cocoa tonight. I’m really not hungry so I might skip to eat something, I’m big enough to survive an evening without eating πŸ™‚

It looked a bit different when I woke up again.

DSC_0044 (7)

I was thinking of trying to find something new about our folklore this morning but I’ve been busy so I’ll find something later on, December is after all rather long πŸ™‚ So what have I’ve been up to You might wonder? If You haven’t You might as well stop reading now because I am going to tell You πŸ™‚

I have for quite some time had a broken washing machine standing in my bathroom and I should have removed it long ago but I’ve used it as a place to have my laundry on πŸ™‚ But this morning I finally got the thumbs out my a.. and started dismantle it. The first two screws were easy to remove and that was the only easy things to remove πŸ™‚ It is amazing how rusty things can get stuck. You might wonder why I just didn’t carry it out? Well, it turns out that they had placed the machine there before they placed a smaller door frame to the bathroom πŸ™‚

This is how it looked outside when I woke up after sleeping a while.

This is how it looked outside when I woke up after sleeping a while. This was the last photo taken today, the rest are older ones.

I just couldn’t take a part the four walls on it but I did manage to get out everything inside it after a few hours. So I tried to flatten that square metal box as good as I could and managed to get it out from the bathroom. Everything is now placed in my car, I’ll give it all to my work friend who will sell it as metal scrap. Yes I could have done that too but it’s just not worth the energy if that’s all I have.

DSC_0033

DSC_0035

DSC_0036

The place where the washing machine stood will be the place where I’ll place the incineration toilet I’ll have later on. I mailed my application to change me sewer system in early November but they still haven’t answered to it so I haven’t been able to buy the things I’ll be needing. The odd thing is that the latest day they should have this application is December first and they have mailed me to say they’ll be coming here to see the changes I’ve done?!Β

DSC_0037

DSC_0039

DSC_0040

Well, that’s a bit tricky since they haven’t answered to my application! Also there’s a risk that the system I have no will be forbidden to use this coming month so I’m not sure what to do πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ If I only could get an answer about the incineration toilet so I could start buying that one, It’s hard to manage without a toilet πŸ™‚ I have called them about this but the one taking care of my property has been on a course for two days and they said they would mail her so she could call me, she never did. I’ll try to reach her tomorrow again because there’s really no use in coming here to check what I’ve been doing since I haven’t done anything since they haven’t answered on my application and that, said a work friend, can take months πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ The letter I got from them earlier this year said that if I didn’t send in an application to them before December first my sewer system would be forbidden to use. Now I wonder, since they want to come here on December first, if they will give me time to get new things or if they just will say that I’m not allowed to use what I have πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚Β

The morning was grey and dull, strong winds have been blowing and rain has been falling. I fell asleep in front of the tv for a while, the dogs were sleeping on one side of it and I had space enough to sit comfortable on the other side. The world looked quite different when I woke up again, it was white and the temperature is so low that I’m not sure it will melt away. Predictions says it will but they haven’t been that accurate to be honest. According to predictions the temperature will fall for a while and then go up again. I wouldn’t mind if it got cold if the wind stopped to blow.

It has been a grey and dull day here and I’ve spent most of it in my sofa watching dvd’s. First I watched Minions and I liked it as I thought I would and I’ve also watched Jurassic World and it was so, so. I’ve seen much better and I’ve seen much worse so I guess I could have been more disappointed than I am πŸ™‚

I’ve turned on the lights on my tiny Yule tree and the Star of Advent too, one day too early to be honest. Now I only need to see if the light bulbs on the electric Advent candlesticks still are working, I think I can make place for at least one at my windows. The last light chain will also need somewhere to be placed but that can wait another day or so.

The strong winds they had predicted for today flew elsewhere and it won’t be especially bad the coming week either according to predictions so my guess is that it will be strong winds all week long, even if it is quite calm outside at the moment πŸ™‚

The wind is howling, the drizzle is drizzling and even though it is rather warm, 8C (46,4F) it’s not especially nice to be outside. The wind will only get stronger and stronger they say but thankfully it will come from west so my neighbors cottage will take the hit from the gusts, They won’t be happy about that but I usually thank them for having their home where they have it so I don’t notice storms especially much πŸ™‚

Here in Sweden it’s forbidden to show commercials targeted toward children when they show children’s programs on tv, if the tv channel is based in Sweden. They can’t however don’t stop it if the channel is based in any other country. I now fully understand why they forbid that. Some of the for the moment free channels I have right now are cartoon channels and they show lots of commercials targeted towards children and even I want those toys after seeing those commercials πŸ™‚ If I had had a small child I would never get any of those channels, it would cost me a fortune when Christmas and birthdays arrived πŸ™‚

The warmer weather they promised us in the earlier is now gone, as I said the other day. Now the temperature drops after every new prediction they make πŸ™‚ So far they still are above 0C (32F) but there’s time to change that too πŸ™‚ and it looks like we’ll get a storm after the weekend with very strong gusts, thankfully it will come from west so I will most likely not notice much of it here in my cottage, my neighbors on the other hand will most likely get the full force from it.

The first of Advent is this Sunday and that’s a sort of big thing here, it is the beginning of Christmas or Jul (Yule) as we say here. I will of course buy lots of Julmust and gingerbread, a must at advent first πŸ™‚ I think it is time for me to dig deep in to our folk-lore too, I usually do that this time of year. Now begins the time when the beings are out walking around a lot since it is dark so much of the day and this is also a time when they are as most powerful.

Beings here are usually not especially nice and lots of the fairy tales that have become Disney films have very different endings over here. The little Mermaid for instance dies a horrible death, Sleeping Beauty is in the original story actually raped while sleeping, by a king, and wakes up after giving birth to two sons (the queen didn’t like that at all πŸ™‚ ), that’s not a story one tells children at bedtime πŸ™‚ Cinderella’s step sisters are actually trying to make the glass shoe fit by cutting of parts of their feet πŸ™‚ One cuts of her big toe and the other her heel. That was actually a story I red myself as very young πŸ™‚

Fairies loves to give little children diseases and tends to kill them as well, gnomes can help but also burn down our homes and the list of bad thing those beings can do is endless πŸ™‚ Our trolls however isn’t especially bad (unless they are mountain trolls, they are always bad). Most trolls look just like us, the thing that separates us is their tail, normally they hide it well though πŸ™‚

I woke up to a rather cold world this morning, the temperature had dropped down to -13,4C (7,9F) and it was actually a bit chilly indoors. I had kept the fire burning almost all day but the heat hasn’t pushed its way through the walls quite yet so the chilly air can still make its way indoors. I’ll keep on having a fire in the stove even if it now will get warmer because as soon as the walls are warm the warmth will stay here inside my cottage.

I started the day with starting a fire in the stove and the cottage got nice and warm rather quickly but it takes a few days until the warmth stays for any longer period of time, the walls are cold and it takes some time before the heatΒ eats its way through them so the warmth stays an entire day after having the fire in the morning. I always wake up a lot of flies when I start using the old stove and once again I heard how the spiders above my head in the bedroom got a fat fly as evening meal. Every time they bring any of those “evil” men to court they lose so I have serious doubts about if they actually know anything but instead just want to be as cool as the big boys in other countries that actually have problems. The one suicide bomber we actually have had was missed totally and to be honest he wasn’t the brightest star in the sky. The only thing he blew up was himself and a car. I wouldn’t mind if it stayed cold for a while so lots of tics and other pests to life would freeze to death. I don’t think the balance of nature would get to disturbed if most tics and moose flies just died, I guess the wild life would become much healthier if they did and I wouldn’t have to wake up at night feeling them crawling around on me and that’s something I really don’t like.

I drove to the super market on my way home and bought fire logs and two dvd’s. One is Jurassic world and it got pretty good reviews and the other one is SPY (with Melissa McCarthy) and I haven’t read any review about that one. Critics are usually always trying to find something wrong with movies and especially comedies, so if they give a comedy higher rating than two out of five it usually isn’t fun πŸ™‚ The only bad thing I read about Jurassic world was that it it wasn’t especially feministic or something like that.

We’ll have rather cold weather for a few days until warmer arrives around Tuesday but I don’t trust those predictions especially much. If they predict the weather further than fifteen minutes into the future it’s most likely wrong anyway πŸ™‚ I hope it will be as cold as they say tomorrow though because that will most likely make nice frost making everything look like it was frosted with sugar πŸ™‚

I’m not sure why but my eyes don’t like to look at this photo and it has nothing to do with what it shows πŸ™‚ I made theΒ photosΒ a bit small to be honest.

The weather predictions have been rather wobbly these last days. They have shown anything from lots of rain and above 0C (32F) to lots of snow and below 0C (32F). The last time i checked, two hours ago, they showed mixed rain and snow and around 0C (32F) for tonight and early morning tomorrow πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I watched a nature program the other day about the white Black bears in western Canada. Spirit bears they are called and they are truly beautiful. We don’t have any white bears here but we do have something else, white moose. I don’t think we call them anything like spirit moose though πŸ™‚ They aren’t albinos either so they are just as strong and healthy as the normal brown moose. They say we have a couple of hundred walking around in our forests. None around here though.

Both the machine that cuts down trees and the one cleaning up after is still out in the forest which means they still have work to do here. It worries me a bit that I now have found more plastic ribbons on trees but for another owner. I hope it is all about thinning because that part of the forest protects us from the western winds that otherwise would hit especially my two neighbors cottage badly if a storm came. I think my cottage still would be just as protected by my closest neighbors cottage as it is now though.

I still have the laundry to do today but otherwise nothing much will happen here. We’ll take another walk before the sun sets though so the laundry will have to wait until after that. The forest owner who has had trees cut down was out thinning out bushes in between trees still standing. I don’t know why but he cut down all the hazel nut bushes too. Since they were cut down and supposed to die (the roots are still there though, so they will start growing as soon as spring comes again) I went out and took a few cuttings. I placed them in pots outside but I have no idea if they will get roots but it is worth a try anyway.

It is when things like these happens that I appreciate how fantastic I live, in a cottage by a bog at the outskirts of the world where the main concern at the moment is that they have chopped down a part of the forest and that flies tend to destroy the summer if spring was rainy. We’ve had a chilly morning here and some parts of the forest had frost, the grass on the roads were still frozen when we walked there an hour after the sun had risen. Thankfully mother moose decided to walk the opposite way bringing her youngling with her.

We walked out to the bog and the chopped down area is smaller than I first thought and it sort of makes a circle around an area making it an island of trees. Not the nicest of weathers but this was taken when the raining was calm.

Weather-wise this has been a dreadful day, pouring rain and som strong gusts didn’t make a good walk after work. But it did look as if it should stop just as we were getting out, the clouds were much more light grey than the ones that just had left us. So off we went to the forest because I really wanted to see how much they had cut down. We hadn’t come far when a big SUV passed us and stopped, it was hunters looking for a dog that according to the gps should be just nearby.

I don’t know if they found it though but I do hope they did because the weather had just become worse again. It didn’t look that bad when I looked into the forest, they had just been thinning close to our cottages but then we came closer to the bog, where the creek is that Sune loves to take a bath in, it looked a bit too bright. I don’t like when they cut down the forest but I really can’t complain about it can I? The odd thing is that the three tree stumps, that I call the three Bog Ladies still stands! They have managed to stay even when they have been removing all other tree stumps. Our folklore says that a forest nymph (and the Bog Ladies are forest nymphs) can look like a rotten old tree stump when they want to but can quickly change to something else like a woman or a deer if they need to go away. So perhaps I haven’t been wrong about them being Bog Ladies πŸ™‚

Tomorrow I’ll take new photos again. All photos today are old and most comes from the folder “For a rainy day”.

I’ve heard it a few times when I get up in the morning, they are chopping down trees in the forest. I can’t see anything from here where I live but I sure can hear it. I have been expecting it since all trees have the same age and they started chopping them down some years ago.

Att spara 7 (9)

Att spara 8 (2)

Around 65 years ago not a single tree grew here so that is the age of the forest where I take all my photos. This area was totally open and most of it was pastures and some fields were used to grow grain but the ground is so poor here that there wasn’t any use continuing, so they planted trees everywhere instead.

Att spara 9 (1)

Att spara 9 (2)

Over hundred years ago the bog wasn’t a bog either, it was a shallow lake and rather big to be honest. They had drained it for quite some time but never managed to drain it totally, there’s still a tiny lake where the bog was as deepest. The beekeeper has actually taken a few baths in it and the water feels oily he says.

Att spara 9 (5)

Att spara 9 (6)

Today they aren’t allowed to take care of the oldest ditches in the bog, so the water level will slowly rise again even if it won’t become the big lake it once was. It will most likely become a big swamp instead, lucky us because that will most likely mean we’ll have more flies here during summer πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Well I guess the birds will love it πŸ™‚

I can hide in trees and bushes taking photos of people passing by without they knowing it but I can’t put up a wildlife camera doing the exact same thing πŸ™‚ It is the law we have here that allows anyone to walk anywhere in nature no matter who owns the land, “AllemansrΓ€tten” or “right of public access” law we have here that stops us from putting up these wildlife cameras. I can however put it up in my garden since the law doesn’t include gardens and it might be legal to put it up in the dogyard but since one can see through the fence it most likely isn’t legal, just in case I would photograph a human. But I can hide there myself and take a photo with my normal camera πŸ™‚

Warmer days like these, when we’re somewhere between autumn and winter brings out the flies that are sort of hibernating in springs that always can be found in old tree houses and unfortunately those flies tend to find their way inside the homes. But then again I do feel happy that my spiders won’t starve or eat each other πŸ™‚ So every morning when I wake up my home is fly free and it all starts all over again the same evening if the day has been fairly warm.

It is mostly building because I didn’t want to go to the top of the mountain where they have a tiny zoo and a beautiful walking area. I was still a bit early when I came back to the car so I went to a petrol station and filled up my car, it turns out that the petrol price was 1/9 of an US dollar lower there than in the village where I usually fill up with petrol.

I went to the store and picked up the package and yes it is an old camera πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I was thinking the other week that I have no old-time Nikon and there is one that usually is very cheap because for some reason people rather buy the later versions even if this one is really good. It is a Nikon F-401s (in the US 4004s). It is seen as a beginners camera and the first one that Nikon tried autofocus but it can be handled fully manually too. I already had a lens I could use so this one costed around 10 US dollars. I’ve already started to use it and so far I like it a lot. But now I feel that I really don’t need any more cameras πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

We met a neighbor when we went out walking after I had come back from FalkΓΆping and he told me that earlier this week he had heard Sune barking like crazy and he just wouldn’t stop. So he walked down to the dog yard and found a terrified Sune with his hair standing straight up. Sune calmed down when my neighbor started talking to him and suddenly he went down the hole they have digged leading into the garage and stayed there quiet πŸ™‚ Wer are now both wondering what could have scared him so much because my neighbor couldn’t see anything.

He finds both moose and wild hog interesting so we doubt that any of those had been close but it could be either the lynx which pass here every now and again or perhaps the wolves have come back? I don’t worry about the lynx, they’ll rather run that try to fight with a dog but I will keep my eyes open to see if I can see any tracks from wolves. I doubt a wolf would try to get in to the dogyard and if it did it wouldn’t be able to get through that small hole into the garage, that would also be a very dangerous thing to do for the wolf because it would not know what would meet it inside the garage, the risk would just be too great. I’ll keep my eyes open though.

It is time for a pot of tea and perhaps something little to eat. I went back to where I was walking yesterday while they were changing my tires to see if I could take some nice photos today instead. But the fog was gone and no sunshine so not a chance :-) I met the garage owner on my way home and he looked a bit worried until I waved and smiled to him :-)

I was driving to the garage to get new winter tires and realised already when I sat down in the car that I should have brought a camera with me. Imagine dark grey sky, thick haze or thin fog if You so like and sunshine in the back, the photos would have been amazing even if I wouldn’t have known how a camera works πŸ™‚ I was almost totally alone on the roads so I could have stopped everywhere to photograph.

It was almost even better up on the mountain where the garage is because we had low flying clouds there as well. I did take a few with my mobile phone but it’ll take some time to get them to my computer. The mobile phone camera is fairly good but with a real camera I would have gotten spectacular photographs. It sounds like I have been out fishing telling everyone about the fish I almost got πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

The clouds were unfortunately much thicker with fewer gaps between them when I had come home so those photos are more like the fish I actually got πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ But it is warm for the season, above 10C (50F) and almost no wind so we had a nice walk anyway. They are saying that the low pressures are standing in line to get in here now so we’ll have mostly rain for a while now even if we actually will get a few hours of sunshine on Sunday.

The garage owner had ordered new tires to me but realised that they had sent to wide ones so he drove to the place they buy tires to get new ones and at the same time he also bought me “new” rims and very nice looking ones too. I should have bought rims myself but never came around to it so I had asked them to just take off the summer tires and put on the new winter tires on the rims I had. I have to admit that I got happy when he asked if I wanted him to get rims too πŸ™‚ It is not a good thing to put on and take off tires too often from the rims.

They also discovered that one of the tires was about to break, the rubber had started to loosen from the inner parts of the tire, I did wonder if perhaps a wheel bearing was about to give up, I don’t know if You know how it sounds when a bearing is giving up but it is a kind of whirring sound but this turned out to be the tire itself. Good thing they found that now, it is not a nice thing when the tire breaks while driving.

Have a great day!

Another day has passed.

Older photos since it is pitch black when I come home after work now.

Yesterday morning it was so dark and foggy that I don’t think I’ve ever experienced a darker morning. I could barely see ant lights from the homes I passed and the headlights on my car seemed to just shine a few yards in front of the car. Normally I would hate that but yesterday I actually liked it a lot πŸ™‚

Today wasn’t especially bright either but the absence of fog made it much easier to see what was going on beside the roads. One never knows when the animals decide to cross the road so it is nice to at least have a chance to see their glowing eyes if they stand close to the road side.

I mostly worked in the neighbor factory today and I could see plenty of big things for me to paint so I guess I’ll be there quite a lot for a while. Everything worked as it should today and those are the days to remember, it doesn’t happen that often πŸ™‚ It is always something that doesn’t work as it should or works too good so it is hard to control what it is I’m doing πŸ™‚ Like last time, I have a table that turns the things I paint from a horizontal lever to a vertical level and the table worked so great it almost tossed away the thing I had on it πŸ™‚ I really need to get someone to check it out before it breaks down, because things usually do break down when they work too good πŸ™‚

Well, nothing more to say today. Tomorrow I’ll get new winter tires on my car, I really hope I won’t be needing them this winter because it would be nice to have a warm one again. But the law’s the law so new tires is a must.

Today has not been an especially eventful day, I worked in the neighbor factory and that was as exiting as it got and that’s not exiting at all πŸ™‚ But the day passed relatively fast so I won’t complain too much.

I was thinking about the big asteroid that passed during Halloween, I missed it of course since it was hard to see on a clear night and since it was cloudy totally impossible to see at all πŸ™‚ But I was thinking, would they have told us if it had been on a collision course?

Such a big one, they said it would be like thousand Hiroshima/ Nagasaki bombs hitting at the same time, would most likely be impossible to survive anyway. Just imagine the hight of the tsunami that would be created (if it hit the water which is most likely) the sky would be filled with ash for so many years that we most likely wouldn’t be able to grow anything anyway and the blast wave would most likely wipe out all houses all over the world.

So wouldn’t it be better if we just walked around not knowing? I doubt people would stay calm even if they knew we couldn’t do anything and I wonder if they would loot the stores for tv’s as they always seems to do in movies πŸ™‚ I guess it would be nice to meet the end at home but I guess the panic would stop all traffic anyway and I guess road rage would be a kind word for what would go on amongst travellers.

Well, no asteroid is coming this way at the moment as far as I know and if it did I don’t think I would like to know about it. I don’t think I even would try to photograph it πŸ™‚
