It is supposed to be raining here right now, it doesn’t. I’m not complaining, just saying that they haven’t been quite accurate in their predictions 🙂 They also predicted, when I checked this morning, that we wouldn’t get any sunshine today, we did 🙂 It is a low pressure that gives them problems with their predictions, they just can’t figure out how fast it will move eastwards.
The day has so far been rather nice with slightly higher temperatures than predicted too. A strong wind does its best to destroy the feeling of spring but it has failed miserable, the wind is nicely warm but so strong that my cottage is trembling and squeaking when the gusts hit. That doesn’t happen often, normally the wind can’t reach my home. Still, it is rather nice outside and we’ve been on walks two times already and after this we’ll go out again, if the rain actually doesn’t come.
I stood outside when I repotted my pelargoniums (some of You english speaking call them geraniums), it turned out to be rather practical since all the dry and loose soil flew away with the wind 🙂 I also repotted an old Flowering Maple (Abutilon and we actually have the same name on it in Swedish). It didn’t look too happy and I hope it survives. I have taken cuttings from it before and took a few today as well. Still it would be nice if the old one survived because they can actually become rather big after a few years.
I have a few more plants to repot, like my passionfruit vines but I’ll wait with those until the wind doesn’t blow that hard. No big plans for the rest of the weekend though, I rarely have any big plans at all to be honest 🙂 If the rain starts to fall I will watch one of the movies I bought yesterday, if it doesn’t I think we’ll be outside for most of the day, well I will take a short nap though after the walk we’ll take after writing this.
Tonight is Walpurgis night and it is celebrated in big parts of this country with huge bonfires and choirs will sing songs about spring too. I doubt that anyone can have a bonfire today because of the wind and any choir being outside in the wind will blow away 🙂 It is a rather big day here even though no one actually knows why we celebrate it 🙂
Walpurgis was if I remember right an English princess who became a nun in Germany and fought against witches which all were evil of course with great success. To be honest, the witches I know wouldn’t hurt a fly but lots of christians who I know would gladly kill anyone in the name of the religion. That was unfortunately the way christianity was spread not by free choise but by violence and death.
It is time to take that walk just in case rain actually would start falling.
Have a great day!
It is impossible to say that we have boring weather today, five minutes sunshine five minutes rain and lots of strong gusts in between. The sun shone when I came home so we went out for a walk as soon as we could. I could see how showers were closing in so we didn’t walk as far as I had planned.
We almost made it all the way home when the rain started and with it the strong wind. It si hard to say that the rain fell since it flew sideways and I don’t think a drop hit the ground 🙂 at least not until the wind stopped. As usual we took cover in the beekeepers stable, it has saved us many times before.
The sun started to shine again as soon as we came home so I managed to walk around to see what is in bloom now and I noticed that the grass still is very short so if it still is wet on Sunday it doesn’t matter, the mowing can wait another week.
I drove by the super market on my way home and I bought two dvd’s, the last Hunger games film and the latest Star Wars film too. So if the weather continues like this I know what I can do instead 🙂
It is time to feed us all and I’ll have a big pot with tea today, it is weekend so I don’t care if it keeps me awake all night 🙂
Have a great day!
I’m so glad it is Friday tomorrow, I was at the neighbor factory again today and even if it went much better than last time I still can’t pretend it worked brilliant 🙂 It started with me bringing the wrong size on the hoses I was going to change today but thankfully the old ones didn’t break.
I have two different kinds of paint, one bright almost white and one dark almost black. The white one behaved as it should and I started to think I was going back to my ordinary work plcae rather early. The dark one however didn’t behave as it should. I have no idea why but I had to use a third more paint to finish the job and even if I had lots of thinner in it it still didn’t flow as it should.
So instead of getting back early I arrived at my work place half an hour before I was going home 🙂 Ok, I have to admit that the day passed very fast, I have no clock there and it is just too much work to try to reach my phone since I can’t open up the overall in thge paint box, the paint is just too toxic and even if the fumes only hit the skin it can make me allergic.
We wentto the bog after work and was lucky to come home just before the rain started to fall. It was just a sort of heavy drizzle so it wouldn’t have been so bad being out walking when it arrived and it is much better than the snow that has been falling lately 🙂 I have no idea how the weather willbe this weekend, they have changed it so many times that it can be anything really 🙂
It is time to get something to eat and then some tv.
Have a great day!
It hailed heavily yesterday evening and since temperatures were low all night lots of it covered my car when I woke up this morning. Thankfully the sun showed for a minute or two so it was easy to get rid of before going to work. I think I had driven for five minutes when the snow started to fall. Even I had to admit to myself that it looked pretty but I was a bit worried since I now have summer tires on my car.
The pretty feeling soon vanished because the longer I drove the more it snowed 🙂 At one point it was so hard to see the road that I thought it would be best to stop and slowly drive home again. The road was however so warm that the snow melted as soon as it hit so I continued to work. Just as I arrived the snow stopped falling and I could see some sunshine again. It lasted until I was about to go to the neighbor factory to work, just before I was leaving the snow started to fall again. So even if it is just 200 meters (much the same in yards) to the other place I took the car 🙂
Nothing worked as it should today 🙂 It took quite some time until I even could start working. Something must have been wrong with the paint because it was looking like cement and nothing I did made it better 🙂 I had painted for a while when it suddenly felt like something was tapping me on my head, strange since I was the only one there. So I turned around and saw that the hose from the paint pump had broken and it sprayed me all over my back 🙂 I wear an overall that won’t let any paint through so that didn’t bother me that much.
The worst thing was that everything was covered in paint and my gloves got slippery and it took almost half an hour to fix the hose. I hadn’t worked for long when something else hit me in the back of my head, this time it was the hose for the compressed air that broke 🙂 It just took twenty minutes to fix that hose so I could start working again. I don’t have any clock in there so every now and again I must check the clock in my mobile phone. Guess what? The zipper broke on my overall!!!
I can’t even be in the paintbox if that is broken and it would take too long to go back to my ordinary workplace to get a new overall so I had to go outside, now without any snow falling but with a strong wind instead. I did manage to fix it, at least so I could continue to work. I’ll bring another one next time I’ll go there, on Thursday they say. It took me twice as long to paint what I should today and I’m so glad that the day is over. From now on it only can be better.
It is time to eat something and after that I’ll sit in front of the tv being grumpy all evening 🙂
Have a great day!
The ventilation died at work and that’s not a nice thing when working beside a huge hot oven and a huge , wet and warm washing machine 🙂 Well it was actually not the ventilation itself that broke down, it started elsewhere and one thing lead to another and so on 🙂
So I’m a bit tired and I have a head ache, so I’ll skip writing anything more today. Hopefully they’ll be able to start it all in a day or two. It won’t bother me much more though, I’ll be working in the neighbor factory for two days now 🙂
See You tomorrow and have a great day!
I woke up to a world covered in snow and I didn’t like it. The night had started rather cold and it had dropped down to -7C (19,4F) before the clouds came and covered the sky. It was less cold when I woke up but the sight of all that snow made me cold inside instead.
I could see that the sun was trying to break through though so out we went and I did have hope that the sun would show while we were out walking. How wrong I was, even though the clouds did get thinner no sun showed. Instead the snow started to fall again but since there was almost no wind it actually didn’t feel that bad anyway. I can even say that I would have liked it if this had been around Christmas 🙂
None of the weather sites had predicted anything else than rain so snow was not even something I have remotely considered to see. It all melts down pretty fast though so even if we just had a shower of pebble snow (looks like hail but is soft and very light) it can’t be seen on the ground any longer. I’m not sure I’m glad I changed to summer tires even if the law says we must but this is April and weather can change in a minute.
I did mow the lawn yesterday and even though I knew the grass had been growing quite a lot I still got surprised over how much grass the collector collected. I had to empty it several times, perhaps a good thing since it most likely insulated the compost against the really cold night. I normally just let the mowed grass stay on the lawn, it gives back the nutrition to the poor sandy soil I have.
It is time for a pot of tea and after that another walk I think, I do hope it won’t snow any more now.
Have a great day!
It is a cold but sunny morning here and we were out walking as soon as the sun started to rise above the horizon. The frost cover wasn’t as thick that I had thought, the below freezing degrees started already yesterday evening. The absence of wind made it much nicer that it was to be honest.
The rain they had predicted for today is now moved to Sunday, that means I’ll have to mow the lawn no matter if I want to or not 🙂 If I wait another week the grass will be so long that my mower won’t manage to cut it and who knows if we’ll have sunshine next week, they are wobbly enough to predict the weather just a day ahead so just imagine how bad it is when they try to do it for a week 🙂
I shouldn’t have slept that long yesterday even if I most likely needed it. I had problems falling asleep and I woke up just after 4 am too but I did feel relaxed so it was a good sleep the little I got. I can’t say we have daylight already at that time now but it sure shows that the day is close. Today the sun went up at 5:32 am and soon we won’t have much night at all here and further north they won’t have it at all since the sun will stay above the horizon 24/7.
Lots of birds are singing and we heard a deer warn about something with is odd barking but we didn’t see any other animals today. We walked to the clean creek but it was even too cold for Sune to take a bath today, I even saw some ice at the edges of the water. Mist “pillars” were rising by the little lake and according to folklore that’s fairies dancing before the day starts. Fairies are actually quite nasty beings, they love to give children diseases and they might even kill them if they want to.
The wind has started to blow some so I guess the grass soon will have dried up enough for me to mow it. I better check all the electric cords so they still work, I had problems with one of them last summer if memory serves me right. I think I’ll have time for a pot of tea before mowing though 🙂
Have a great day!
So up we went almost as early as usual even if we were going to the garage to get new brake pads on my car, they have the same working hours as I do and I wanted to get there as early as possible even if it could take some time before they would get to my car (which it actually didn’t, they fixed my car right away). I looked out the windows and saw to my extremely big surprise that the weather predictions actually were right!!!
The sun was shining and there were only a few thin clouds up in the sky. I have to admit that it was a bit chilly when we went away but since I was planning on walking for several hours I really didn’t mind that much. The garage opened just as we arrived so I just gave the owner my keys and went away. I had decided to follow the old pilgrimage road eastwards. I have no idea why they made this a pilgrimage road back in the days but it seems to have important churches and monasteries as some kind of connection points.
I knew I wouldn’t be able to reach the church (Kungslena church) which the pilgrimage lead to, it is 22 km (13,7 mile) away and even if it will go fast getting there it will not be the same back since it is all uphill back to Gudhem again 🙂 and the dogs must be able to stop every now and again to sniff on all the messages other animals have left. It would have been interesting to get to the church though. The church standing there now was built some time in the 13th century but they are pretty sure there was a church made of wood standing there long ago. The odd thing with this church is that it has three steeples and it is very beautiful.
I think we had walked half way there when we turned back again. To be honest I thought it would take twice the time to get back since it was all uphill but it didn’t, so we passed the garage and went the other direction too. My first thought had been to walk that way instead but there are signs at Forentorp ängar (I’ve shown You photos from there before, the old mill to the monastery stands there) that they have cows and calves on the fields where the pilgrimage goes through so no dogs allowed. Cows with calves have a tendency to want to kill dogs and their owners and since I was getting new brake pads I thought dying would just be a waste of money 🙂
We came back to the garage after being out for around 3,5 hours and the sun had shone all the time. The wind was rather cold so when that hit us it got nasty cold but when we were out if its reach it got a bit too warm 🙂 especially with all that uphill walking 🙂 I decided to take a short nap when we came home, I set the alarm and woke up when it started. I turned it of and slept for two more hours 🙂 The dogs didn’t seem to mind at all 🙂
My neighbor told me that it had snowed while I was sleeping! Guess if I was happy not having to see that 🙂 but it is so warm that it melted straight away. The clouds arrived just as predicted too and now they are leaving us again, just as predicted???!!! Is this a sign of the end of the world??? I can’t remember the last time they were exactly right before 🙂 🙂 It is time for a pot of tea and then I’ll see if there’s anything interesting on tv, I doubt that though 🙂
Have a great day!
Even though the weather predictions said sunshine all day with no or few clouds it showed not to be entirely true. Yes we’ve had sunshine, every now and again and it did get reasonable warm too but the wind did its best to make it colder. So I fear what the weather might be like tomorrow since I’ve decided that the dogs and I will be out walking while they fix the brakes on my car. They say sunny and a bit cooler than today, does that mean we’ll get rain and bone chilling cold 🙂 🙂
The walk after work was rather pleasant though since we were walking out of winds reach. We checked out how the “new” road was and the photos does lie some, it looks much better than it is. Ok, it isn’t meant for walking on even if that will be the main reason anyone will be there and I guess the timber lorry drivers really don’t care if it is a bit uneven. They had already placed some deforestation machines up there so it’ll be interesting to see how much that will be left.
Most of the road is still like it was before though, it is very close to the nature reserve so I’m not sure about how much the are allowed to change the environment there. The water level in the creek was oddly low and I wonder if the beavers have made a new dam further up-stream? I couldn’t go especially far because the ground was very muddy. I will however as soon as the ground has dried up some.
It is time to make something to eat and I think I’ll have sandwiches with roast beef and potato salad today. I thought that since I won’t work tomorrow I might as well celebrate the coming weekend 🙂
Have a great day!
Is anyone surprised if I say that we almost all day had grey and rainy weather? 🙂 They had predicted sunshine from the morning but it didn’t show up until just before I stopped working 🙂
We also had a nasty wind all day, not that I noticed it much here before I went to work but I did notice it very well on the road to work 🙂 It had also calmed down pretty much when I came home so the walk was really pleasant. Sune took a bath like always in the clean creek and Nova rolled around in the dry grass.
So I was sitting here in the kitchen looking at Facebook when suddenly the cottage got hit hard by a strong wind, the entire cottage trembled and suddenly the ky got all black and rain started to fall. The wind hit several times and I started to wonder if we could have a tromb nearby. A tromb is a small tornado which can damage houses if one is unlucky.
The wind was so hard towards the door that I had problems opening it but I couldn’t see any tromb, doesn’t mean we didn’t have one though. They usually only show on warm summer days but it did get rather warm pretty fast so that could have triggered one to start. Now it has stopped to blow but the sky is just as black and it rains some.
That was probably the most exiting thing that has happened here since the farmers garage blew up in the air 🙂 It is time for tea and something to eat.
Have a great day!
It has been raining more or less all day here but the sun shines right now. Too late, I refuse to go outside again today. They do say however that we’ll get sunshine tomorrow and that it will stay all week long.
I wouldn’t mind that at all, especially if it is shining on Friday. That’s the day they’ll change the brake pads on my car. It is no use in borrowing a car from the garage because I would come at least an hour late and I would have to go an hour early and since I only work half a day on Fridays it would be more or less like coming to work just to say hi and then leave again 🙂 They only work half day on Fridays in the garage too.
So I’ll bring the dogs and a couple of cameras, haven’t decided what cameras yet though. We’ll leave the car at the garage and then we’ll take a long walk. If they haven’t finished on my car when we come back we’ll just take another walk. That’s a great way to spend a day (except for the paying part 🙂 ) but the weather has to be nice, it isn’t at all that nice if it is raining 🙂
It is time to get something to eat and I think I’ll take the risk of having a small cup of tea and hope it won’t keep me awake all night 🙂
Have a great day!
Today has been anything like spring like, it has been more like an autumn day. Cold, a bit windy and rainy. We have been lucky when going out though, only drizzle as worst. Still, I’m thinking of going to the wood shed to get some logs and start a fire in the stove, mostly to get rid of the dampness that has eaten its way in to the cottage.
The weather has however made me read a lot instead, at the time I’m reading J.K.Rawling’s book Fantastic beasts and where to find them. It is actually an encyclopedia with some funny notes but I have to say that the film seems very much more fun 🙂 I’ve only seen one trailer and they have taken huge liberties when making it and that’s a good thing. The book as it is now would be a lousy film 🙂
I’ve done some laundry too but that’s it, this is not a day with lots of energy to waste I feel. I might make some pancakes and after that I’ll keep on reading or start hibernating til it is warm again.
Have a great day!
The bog ladies had had a chilly and wet night so I can understand that they had had many fires burning during the night 🙂
It is actually quite nice outside even if the sun isn’t shining and the occasional rain drop falls down. It is slightly above 10C (50F) at the moment and the little wind that’s there is just nice. I wouldn’t mind if the cracks in the clouds were a bit bigger but we can’t get it all, can we 🙂
I had hoped that I would be able to mow the lawn today, not because I like it but it is soon a bit too long but it is still so wet that my mower just would clog up totally. Most of the Wood anemones have buds now, I have a few different ones like the Yellow one but also a few different of the white one. Soon I’ll see white, blue, green and white with a blue eye flowering in my woodland.
I have a few plants in my cool cellar and I’m thinking of bringing them up so I can turn off the greenhouse lamp down there, it eats energy but is great for the plants. The problem is that if we get a setback how well can I cover them, they already have leafs. I’ll place them on the patio close to the cottage wall and that usually keep the frost away. The sunshine however, if we get some that is, is the biggest problem. Just like us plants need to adjust to it so they don’t get burned.
Tomorrow will be cold and rainy they say so perhaps I should wait with picking up those plants. This is the time of year when weather can change within minutes, one minute it’s sunny and warm and the next snow can fall.
It is time to have a pot of tea and after that we’ll take another walk.
Have a great day!
Today has been much less eventful than yesterday, thankfully 🙂 I have done a lot anyway though. I left work an hour early because today is the last day we’re allowed to have winter tires on our cars, the studded ones that is. I went to the garage earlier this week so they could check the summer tires for me. One was about to split so a new tire had to be bought and two other leaked a bit too much air at the end of last summer.
They could of course not find any air leak, which doesn’t surprise me because those things never show when one is at the garage, they just start leaking like crazy as soon as one has left 🙂 So we placed an inner tube in one of them and now we’ll see if the other one keeps on leaking. I have to go there anyway rather soon because it turns out that that the brake pads on the front wheels are no more. That garage is a very nice place in that way that all costumers who are there always talk with each other and many people just check in to have a chat with the owner and anyone in there 🙂
I also drove to Falköping to do my weekly grocery shopping but I really didn’t need anything so it was a cheap visit this time 🙂 Earlier this week has ´been so nice, almost presummer (one of our in between seasons) warm, today however has been more like a late autumn day. Cold winds, cloudy and some raining. I really looked forward to take a walk in the quiet forest but that never happened.
Yes we did take a walk but it wasn’t quiet at all, they are working with the road, not outside our cottages where they should have started but way in to the forest. More forest will be cut down so they need to make the roads so good that heavy timber lorries can drive there. It is the road that follows the creek upstream. I don’t like it at the moment but since all grass will be gone the risk of getting ticks will be much smaller so we will be able to walk there even during summer. Nothing bad that doesn’t bring something good with it. They’ll fix the road outside our cottages as soon as they have finished the work in the forest.
It is time to make a pot of tea, I’m so tired today (as all seemed to be at work today) so I doubt that any amount of tea or coffee can keep me awake during the night 🙂
Have a great day!
I got rather surprised when I found a letter from my telephone company where they thank me for chosing them when I wanted a business subscriptions for my business. I don’t own a business so I called them immediately and stopped it. It turns out that it isn’t my telephone company that has done this but a business partner. He said that it was some kind of discount offer that I had subscribed to. In the thank You letter I also got a e-mail address to the contact person.
So after calling the telephone company I also wrote an e-mail to the contact person, demanding some answers like if there was a new phone number added and I also wrote that I will contact the police because I haven’t done this and how could they do anything if they didn’t know who they were talking to? I don’t think this has anything to do with identity theft since the letter came home to me, so I easily could call and stop it.
There is however one more person in this county with my name and they might have called that person but then, why had that person not reacted when my social security number was mentioned? It is unfortunately very easy to get our social security number because we need it to almost everything here, even when we are subscribing to a news paper. So even if I think everything is ok I still will go to the police because they just can’t do something like this. Guess if I got stressed when I read that letter 🙂
It is time to get something to eat, I always get hungry when I get stressed like this.
Have a great day!
We had such wonderful weather on Monday and Tuesday that it just was impossible to stay indoors for any longer time. Today isn’t that bad either but it is cloudy and has been for most of the day.
Still, birds are singing and farmers are plowing their fields, they have also put manure everywhere so it smells rather bad in some places 🙂 Most of it is now plowed down though, they all want to finish the job before the rain starts falling, something the predictions still debate over when that actually is happening 🙂
It is time to get something to eat, all the animals have already gotten their food but Nova decided to not have hers this evening. She does like that sometimes and I have no idea why. I guess she’s hoping I’ll drop something of what I’m having but I’ll be extra careful today 🙂
Have a great day!
Sorry, no blog today. It was just a too good day to waste in front of the computer. They say it will be much the same weather tomorrow so I might not write anything then either. The weather will however deteriorate a lot already on Wednesday so I might write something then instead.
Have a great day!
Dont forget to take a look at the new place I’ll move to when I’ll have no more space here. I still haveMB to use here though : The Cottage by the Cranelake. We still have hope.
I’ve had the kitchen door open big parts of the day so far and it looks like I can keep it open for some time more. There are plenty of clouds in the sky but the gaps between them are big enough for it to warm up the south side of my cottage quite a lot. It is around 14C (57,2F) at the moment but it didn’t start especially warm this morning.
It was -5C (23F) and the world was covered in a thin layer of sparkly white frost. Our morning walk was quite nice anyway since there was no wind what so ever. The birds started singing like crazy as soon as the sun started to warm up the air. I could hear a lot of cranes too but couldn’t see a single one.
Yesterday I did what I should have done already last spring, I dug up the wild gooseberry bush I had in my vegetable patch. The wild one behaves very different from the ones we buy I’m afraid, something I didn’t know until I dug up one 🙂 All branches which touches the ground roots and a new busy starts growing up, Also it sends out shoots from its roots so suddenly it grows gooseberry bushes everywhere. Did I mention it is actually more thorny too 🙂 So after a while it is utterly impossible to clean out weeds which grows beneath the branches.
The berries however is just delicious and unfortunately much smaller than on the bushes we buy. I could have taken all that if it wasn’t for the fact that it growed in the vegetable patch, there were simply no room for any vegetables 🙂 Now I’ve placed it on my toss away mound, that’s the place where I toss everything already dead, pruning’s, dog poop and grass tufts if I make a new flower bed. It will most likely thrive there, spreading happily out into the cow pasture just outside the fence 🙂 I already have more raspberry bushes there than in my own garden 🙂
So now I’ve used a pitchfork and turned all the soil in the vegetable patch and also planted several flowering quince in my garden and one cherry tree. Well tree is a bit too much to call it 🙂 it is still tiny but it managed to survive in a pot outside during winter so I thought I might as well give it a place already now in early spring. I have one more small cherry tree but it still stands in my cool cellar and I don’t trust the weather to be warm enough for it since it already has lots of small leafs.
I still haven’t figured out if I should try to make the vegetable patch I have bigger or if I should make another one elsewhere in the garden. I still have plenty of time to figure out that though, normally I wouldn’t plant any vegetables outside until the first week in June, since that is when we usually get our last night with frost. Nowadays however one never knows, perhaps this one was the last we had? I must also buy a plum tree this year, I’ve promised my neighbor that I should buy one so that they’ll get a better chance to get fruit on theirs. Just because they say a plum tree is self-fertile it doesn’t mean more than that it might give one or two plums, they haven’t lied but normally that’s what one get. It is always best to have another tree of the right kind nearby and then both trees might give a lot.
I think it is tie to go out into the garden again, I won’t mow the lawn today but I have to say that the grass has grown an awful lot these last days 🙂
Have a great day!
It was a tad chilly here this morning, only 1,5C (34,7F) but the sunshine didn’t have many clouds to fight its way through so it did feel warmer than it actually was. On tv they said we might have a big chance to see the sun today, on the web however we didn’t have any chances to see the sun and it is the same forecast business saying both 🙂 I guess the chances of getting it right gets bigger if they have different forecasts in different places 🙂
We walked to the little lake and the birds were singing like crazy. There wasn’t a single crane by the lake but I could see some ducks and two Trumpet swans (or as we call them Song swans). Lots of ravens in the air too and I do wish they for once could sit down close so I could get a good photo of anyone of them. That only happens when I’m driving it seems and then it is impossible to stop. Just a week ago a big raven sat down on a high tree stump just beside the road and the sun was reflected in some of its otherwise pitch black feathers, it looked magnificent.
We also walked out to the bog but no sight of any moose this morning and it was so chilly that not even Sune wanted to take a bath in the creek 🙂 I could see the dogs breaths in the air and I wonder if it might have been colder out there than elsewhere, it sure feels like it many times but that could be the ever-present dampness which give that feeling.
It’s so fun because I just checked the latest forecast on the Swedish website and now it suddenly shows that we’ll most likely see the sun the entire day, at least between the clouds that might pass 🙂 I feel that I have chosen the wrong career 🙂 I think I would get it right just as many times as they do just by using a deck of cards and giving the different cards different meaning 🙂
I feel that it is time to take another walk and after that a short nap would be great. I really need to replant some potted plants today and also start looking for places in my garden where I can plant some flowering quinces I once sowed. No rush with the latter though, spring is still young to be honest.
Have a great day!
I’m not sure how all these four photos ended up in the same 🙂 I’ve edited this 🙂
We’ve had a rather mixed weather here today, one minute sunshine, one with rain and one with just clouds plus an erratic wind, sometimes strong sometimes non-existent and this circle has been going on for quite some time. It made it difficult to know how to dress.
We haven’t had this much water in the creek since the beavers got scared away, or were they because now it looks like they are building a new dam again a bit upstream from the place where I fell down the sinkhole 🙂 I would like if they were back but I doubt the land owner would be 🙂
The river I pass on my way to work was so big today that I’m glad I don’t live downstream behind any of the old mill dams, I doubt they can hold back all this water and the closer it gets to our biggest lake Vänern,m the flatter the landscape becomes. If it floods there the Vastgota plains will be the Vastgota lake instead 🙂 In some places the river look like the really big ones we have further north with lots of rapids.
There was no place to stop and photograph that but I did stop further upstream and took a few photos, with one of my old cameras. I’ll show You those photos some day but I don’t know when because I’m still waiting for the ones I’ve already sent away.
We walked to the bog this afternoon and when we came out there I did see that something wasn’t like it usually is but it took a while until I saw what it was. At first I thought it was three big trees that had fallen and that I saw their root systems but then they started to move! Without knowing it we had passed a moose cow and her two calves from last year 🙂 Well the dogs did notice something but I just thought they had smelled squirrels 🙂
It is time to get something to eat and I think I’ll make warm sandwiches. I’m just too lazy to do anything more work demanding 🙂
Have a great day!
I was lucky to get the best of days when I had my vacation, it has rained heavily ever since and the river I pass on my way to and from work is so full of water now that it looks more like a lake in some places. I placed one of my water barrels where it will stand until autumn and it was totally empty when I did, today it is full, it takes around 200 liters (53 gallons).
It looks however as if the weather will be better during the weekend but the forecasts change so fast now that it is hard to keep up 🙂 It has been rather uneventful here these two days. Nothing much has happened at work and nothing much here at home either. I was hoping that my film rolls had been developed till today but it looks like I’ll have to wait some time more.
It is time to get something to eat and after that watching some tv I think. I do hope I can find anything interesting but that is almost as hard to find as winning the lottery 🙂 The Knowledge channel usually has something but even they can fail.
Have a great day!
So far the day has been a bit chillier than yesterday, we even had some thin fog for a while but now the sun seems to break through the clouds and it feels warmer as soon as it does. We had a light rainfall during the night so everything smelled so nice this morning and it did help my seeds to get a good start. I know we’ll have setbacks but as long as they aren’t too cold the seeds will do fine, after all it is Scandinavian wildflowers so they should manage the climate.
I passed the lake when I drove to town this morning, I think there were only 50 or so caravans left so I guess lots of cranes have moved north now. There were still around 15 600 cranes left by the lake but many of the ones with caravans follow specific cranes all the way to their nesting places in Norway. I wonder if they can follow them by GPS? After all, how easy can it be so see which cranes is which otherwise 🙂
My neighbor from the farm up the slope asked me if I had seen our new neighbors. I was a bit confused until he told me that every day a bunch of cranes were walking not far from our homes, I can actually see them from mt home 🙂 To be honest, I haven’t even looked around here, I thought it was a bit too noisy with tractors driving around spreading manure now. I’ll look out later today to see if they are there or if they only are here in the morning.
Tomorrow I’ll work like normal again. I have had two rather wonderful days and I wish I could have taken the entire week. Well I could have but I’ll be needing five days around christmastime, christmas is mostly over a weekend this year so it’s best to have some days vacation left so I at least get one week off.
It is time to give the animals what they want, food. I’ll have some as well I think.
Have a great day!
It has been a wonderful day here. Warm with an enough strong wind and the sun wasn’t just a disk one could see through the clouds, it actually showed itself parts of the day. It was even too warm to wear a very worn down fleece jacket when we were out walking. I had planned to go to town to the super market but it was just a too good day to waste on a super market visit. Tomorrow I must go though no matter how great the day might be.
The predictions have varied a lot hour by hour but at the moment the big Swedish one says it will be much like today and unfortunately the big Norwegian one which usually is right says cloudy with possible some rain, even if it will be small amounts falling. I did sow annuals outside today so the little rain that eventually might fall will do good for them but I’d rather not have any rain at all, we have plenty of water as it is anyway.
There is one kind of seeds I always fail with when sowing them and that’s peonies. I have never been able to get a single plant but like a fool I keep on sowing them. It takes two years until one can see something above the soil, after the first winter outside it only grow roots and it is important to never let the soil dry out. So guess if I got surprised today when I found two small seedlings 🙂 Now it is important to leave them alone another year, just make sure they get what they need like water and fertilizer. They are so sensitive that if one tries to move them to another pot they might die. Later on in their life they can take anything though.
The flies have woken up too now, at the moment it’s the kind that really doesn’t care about me but during the entire time I was out weeding two flower beds they insisted on resting on my head. I hate when they do that and especially now when I have so short hair and feel them as soon as they land. So I have already started to hate them and that’s not a good sign, after all they have just started to fly 🙂 Tomorrow, if the weather permits, I’ll wear a cap when weeding some other flower beds. I have very few seeds to sow this year, I only have two more bags to sow and they need warmth to germinate but I do have some small bushes to plant this spring. Mostly Chinese Flowering Quince but also a few Katsura’s and something that I at the moment have no idea what it is 🙂 It might be some kind of cherry, perhaps 🙂
It is time to get something to eat and I’ll risk a sleepless night by having a pot of tea as well.
Have a great day!
We’ve had much the same weather today as we had yesterday but the clouds were slightly thicker so the bright disk, the one we call the sun was a bit weaker. I think the wind was even weaker than yesterday, the wind power plants didn’t move much at all and most of them didn’t move at all. Almost 15C (59F) and that’s not bad this early in April.
We’ve been away almost all day, my dogs and I but I don’t think much happened here in the village during our absence, nothing much ever happens here to be honest. The only exception is when a villager blew up his garage unintentionally two years ago 🙂 The garage was around a mile away and I stood in the shower on the opposite side of my cottage when I suddenly were tossed towards the wall 🙂 He also had fireworks in that garage and they blew off every now and again all day long 🙂
You might wonder if I brought a camera with me today and of course I did, I even brought two with me but both are the old kind so You’ll have to wait until the films are developed. I have by the way four more films that I mailed early this week and I think all four were B&W films. I do prefer color film but it is fun to try B&W too every now and again.
Normally I would sit here and think that the weekend is just too short and we shouldn’t have to work more than four days a week but today I don’t care, I had two days of vacation I didn’t use last year so I’ll take them tomorrow and on Tuesday. I could have saved them if I wanted to but as I said at work, I don’t know when I might hit a moose on my way to work and get hit in the head by its hooves and die and I really don’t like to have vacation days that I haven’t spent left when I die 🙂 The new vacation year started two days ago so I still have 25 days to spend this year 🙂
It is time to get something to eat and I’ll have tea since I don’t have to go to bed early today 🙂
