Amazing how something that big can be so invisible.

I’m not sure how all these four photos ended up in the same 🙂 I’ve edited this 🙂

We’ve had a rather mixed weather here today, one minute sunshine, one with rain and one with just clouds plus an erratic wind, sometimes strong sometimes non-existent and this circle has been going on for quite some time. It made it difficult to know how to dress.

We haven’t had this much water in the creek since the beavers got scared away, or were they because now it looks like they are building a new dam again a bit upstream from the place where I fell down the sinkhole 🙂 I would like if they were back but I doubt the land owner would be 🙂

It is a bit too well made to not be a beaver's work.

The river I pass on my way to work was so big today that I’m glad I don’t live downstream behind any of the old mill dams, I doubt they can hold back all this water and the closer it gets to our biggest lake Vänern,m the flatter the landscape becomes. If it floods there the Vastgota plains will be the Vastgota lake instead 🙂 In some places the river look like the really big ones we have further north with lots of rapids.

There was no place to stop and photograph that but I did stop further upstream and took a few photos, with one of my old cameras. I’ll show You those photos some day but I don’t know when because I’m still waiting for the ones I’ve already sent away.

Can You see it?

Can You see it?

We walked to the bog this afternoon and when we came out there I did see that something wasn’t like it usually is but it took a while until I saw what it was. At first I thought it was three big trees that had fallen and that I saw their root systems but then they started to move! Without knowing it we had passed a moose cow and her two calves from last year 🙂 Well the dogs did notice something but I just thought they had smelled squirrels 🙂

It is time to get something to eat and I think I’ll make warm sandwiches. I’m just too lazy to do anything more work demanding 🙂

Have a great day!

  2. wow.. thats an amazing capture on film of the moose, they are such an elusive creature,, we see their tracks on our property but have yet to see the live one!! Your photo of Pussy Willows are the first I’ve seen this year!!

    • Hi Laurie!

Still, if I onlyt had looked left I could have gotten good photos of the two calves. I didn’t see them until they ran after their mother behind those trees.

I can often see them on my way to work and when I moved here I saw them almost every day. Then some disease hot almost all moose here so they were rare for many years, now they are back again 🙂

      Have a great day!

    Hi Christer,
Your neighbor should leave the tree up even when the owl departs. Good nest holes are hard to find these days.

I was mystified about your comment about something looking too clean to not be by a beaver. I thought you were talking about the tree stumps. No beaver would chop so flat and clean like a machine. Then I saw the partial dam behind it. Aha! All is clear. And I’ve even had my coffee. 🙂

Yesterday was all steady, hard rain. My little brook was already full and it doesn’t really have anyplace to go except into other people’s back yards. It hasn’t done that yet. The small river it feeds is also pretty high but it hasn’t overflowed onto the nearby road yet. It does that frequently because the town and the Army Corp of Engineers have messed it up so many times under the guise of fixing it. I have to admit that it doesn’t flood the road quite as deeply as it used to. We no longer need a flat bottomed boat to get across.

The little quince has 3 pairs of leaves now.

    Enjoy the day.

    • Hi Caryn!

Perhaps he should but I doubt he will. One never knows though, he does love the wild life and has nothing against wolves he just put up safer fences 🙂 That however makes it harder for me to jump over them, I might get half way but then the elecrtic wires would hit me where I am as most wounreable 🙂 🙂

🙂 🙂 I would have been surprised if the beavers had been able to chew off those trees so evenly and most likely a bit scared 🙂 🙂

But then again, it is always nice to have a flat bottomed boat 🙂
Sunny and chilly here this morning, rather perfect to walk around in 🙂

They grow rather fast in the beginning I’ve noticed! I have several now that I need to find a spot where they can grow. I’ll most likjely bring one or two to the plant swapping day in the late summer.

      Have a great day!

HI Christer! That’s mighty close to mama moose!! I am surprised she didn’t charge you!! Wow. I would have collapsed seeing that! I was happy to read that the farmer left the old tree alone – so the owl has a house! 🙂 That made me smile. And pussy willows!!! I love them but don’t see them around as often as I would like. I hope the warm sandwiches were delicious. I just finished lunch – spinach salad today! 🙂

    • Hi Dianna!

I think the dogs worried her since they always use dogs when hunting them. Doesn’t matter that these two are rather small (at least in my eyes 🙂 ). Moose are known for killing people every now and again so even if I would have liked better photos I don’t mind them running away 🙂

He does love the wild life and isn’t bothered about the occasional wolf staying here, he just puts up safer fences with lots of electricity in them 🙂

We had lots more willows here by the creek earlier but they cut them down, I think there’s a law that they must clear the ditches every now and again. They are now growing up again however so we’ll soon have plenty of them again 🙂

Spinach salad sound rather nice 🙂

      Have a great day!

  5. Christer,
I’ve never seen moose, but I have seen elk. I even heard them bugling during rutting season.

You have the best places to walk, and the dogs get a great workout. Gracie would want to chase any critters she saw. She goes after them in my yard. I’m surprised she didn’t learn to climb a tree.

We had a beautiful day today and will also have one tomorrow. Beyond that I dare not look!

    Have a great evening!

    • Hi Kat!

I’ve only seen elk on tv but I think they too are rather big, bigger than our red deers and they are pretty big!

There are a lot of places we can walk here, one of the good things with living in a sparcely populated area 🙂 Boxers are known for being rather good at climbing so I guess You should be happy she never figured out how to do it 🙂

Sunny and chilly here this morning, rather nice to be honest 🙂

      Have a great day!

    April 9, 2016 at 8:26 am

    • Hejsan Susie!
