Tonight it all starts!

We’re having even warmer weather today but I can see thunderclouds building up over the mountain so I guess it might be a noisy nigh ahead of us. I don’t want to close my bedroom window so I hope that if it starts it does so before I go to bed tonight.

The Eurovision song contest starts tonight with the first semifinal. This year we are making it so big that countries with less budgets never will get a chance to even come close to what we’re doing. To be honest, the semifinals have fewer viewers but still in the intermission between the songs and the vote counting (tele-voting in all countries) Justin Timberlake will sing!I can’t stop wondering what they will have in the big final show on Saturday if he only sing in a semifinal?!

The stage and equipments are so heavy that the arena, Globen (the Globe, looks like a giant golf ball) now has sunken with 3,5 cm (1 2/3 of an inch) 🙂 Even if we don’t know what songs will be in the big final (well six countries are there already, the five that pays most to the EBU and the winner from last year which is us this year), there are still favorites to win it all. The biggest one is Russia. I can’t say it is my favorite but it is good. The top five on the betting businesses are right now Russia, Ukraine (very odd song and it sounds like the singer sing one song and the band plays another 🙂 ) Sweden, France and Australia. Yes Australia is a member of the EBU (European Broadcasting Union).

My personal favorite beside Sweden of course is Australia. We’ll know on Thursday night if she made it to the big final. It is time to get something to eat and perhaps I’ll watch the beginning of the semifinal but I must up at 5 am tomorrow so I won’t see it all.

Have a great day!

Hi Christer! Sounds like tonight is going to be fun – storms and music! Can’t get any better than that in my opinion!! 🙂 We are raining too and much, much cooler. Yesterday was hot but not like last week. We will rain for the next few days and then get cool for the weekend. Is that white flower a dogwood? Have a good evening!

    • Hi Dianna!

Well, no thunderstorm and I only watched for a while. The Russian song might not be the best but his performance is someting extra! The next semifilal is tomorrow and the big on Saturday.

No rain here but they are predicting rain for the weekend and rather much too. Just as it finally has started to dry up here.

No the white flowers are sweet cherry and the greenish-yellow buds are redberried elderberry.

      Have a great day!

      Christer.

  3. Christer,
What happened with Sweden? How far did they get? I know you watch the whole show when it is on, and I look to you for the comments and critiques.

Today was a perfect day. I had all my car windows open and the heat off in the house. It will get colder tonight, and that will be the pattern for most of the rest of the wee.

I’m watching the baseball game. Nothing says summer like baseball. The good thing is the Sox have been winning.

    Have a great night!

    • Hi Kat!

We are already in the big final since we won last year. Looking at the betting sites we are still amongst the top five favorites. I can’t say I think Russia has a great song, it is good no doubt about it but not the best one. The performance he did was something extra though! I’ll show videos as soon as the big finale has been, they usually show the live performance then, now it is just ordinary music videos that shows nothing of what he did on stage.

Cooler but just as wonderful here today! The weekend will be cold and rainy though.

Go Sox! Too bad it isn’t popular here.

      Have a great day!

      Christer.

    Hi Christer,
It still cracks me up that Australia is part of Europe for purposes of Eurovision song contest. One of the benefits of Commonwealthdom, I guess.

Today was beautiful and warm and sunny. I mowed the overachieving grass on the side of the house because the lawn guys always forget that little strip. They think it belongs to my neighbor. The cooler weather is coming in tonight.

    Enjoy the evening.

    • Hi Caryn!

Well, they are members of the EBU so that’s why they get the chance to be in this competition. Lots of the countries that participates are nothing but European to be honest 🙂 but members of the EBU.

It is cooler already, around 68F but sunny and almost wind free, quite nice 🙂 It will be cold and rainy all weekend though so I guess I’ll have to turn on teh radiators again.

      Have a great day!

      Christer.

  5. Sound like an exciting night is ahead of you. Hope your favorite wins! I used to watch the talent shows but haven’t for awhile now. Right now our
TV’s are swimming in politics!! 😦

    • Hi Mona!

I can’t watch much of the semi finals because I need to get up early to go to work. I will see the big final on Saturday though. This is anything but a talent show though, lots of big stars have been participating in this competitiuon through the eyars.

      Have a great day!

      Christer.
