It is finally over for this year :-)

We’re having much the same weather here today as we had yesterday, no wind and perhaps a tiny bit warmer though. I have to admit that it’s quite nice even if I would prefer sunshine and warm weather. We haven’t gotten that much rain as they predicted though so we might still get a reasonable fly free summer 🙂 I’ll get tired of it soon enough though.

I stood still for a moment to take a photo and the dogs were just beside me when I suddenly heard a loud crack in the forest beside me. None of us was even looking at that direction but still the Roe deer goat (as we caklle the females) desided she had to get away. It isn't easy when one is heavily pregnant but she was quite calm when she saw neither I nor the dogs were especiallly intere4sted in her. She stood at the same spot when we walked away.

I watched The Eurovision Song Contest yesterday night and it was quite ok. They had changed how they presented the votes this year. There are jut´ry groups in every country, people mostly working in the music business and then there’s the televoting. Both parts give the exacts same amount of votes but since they add together all televotes to one vote per song it looks much more when they present the televoting.

Australia won the jury group votes and it looked like nothing would be able to stop them from winning. The Russians won the televoting hugely but since they didn’t get that many votes from the Jury groups they “only” came third. The one winning it all when both groups were added were Ukraine! I just can’t understand how they could win, I’m sorry Ukraine but I just can’t 🙂 Australia came second and we Swedes ended up as fifth. Now it’s finally over for this time but it’ll start all over again as soon as we pass in to 2017 🙂 I’ll post the top three songs at the bottom of this post.

I think it is time for a short nap and after that we’ll take another walk.

Have a great day!

One might not like the Russian song but he sure had the best show of them all.

    Hi Christer,
I missed the ESC fun this year and only saw the voting when I came home. I don’t like the new voting presentation. I don’t want to see jury votes (5 mediocre singers here) and I miss the fun to see how the people in each country decide. Why juries anyway, why don’t they trust in people? Well, a general problem…
Last place for us is okay, it was a really boring song, our national final songs were so bad that we couldn’t choose a better one. At least we didn’t get zero points 🙂
Have a nice nap and walk!

    • Hi Birgit!

It’s really no big difference from before but they mixed the televotes and the jury votes before they told the results on tv. I agree though, why on earth do they have jury groups at all? It was quite clear that the jury groups voted very different, just look at Poland who only got seven points from thge jury groups but third most from the televoting!!

To be honest, there were other songs that were worse than Germanies, the thing that annoyed me really much was how she was dressed 🙂 🙂 🙂 Those two things up on her head made me laugh as soon as I saw her and it was impossible to take her serious after that 🙂 The Manga style might be bigger here in Europe now days but not so big that we think it looks good on anyone 🙂

The nap was nice and the walks too even if it drizzled all the time.

      Have a great day!

    Hi Christer,
In spite of my intent not to watch the entire thing, I ended up watching the entire thing. It was fun. The American commenters were funny and catty. I thought I had missed the Russian song but now I remember it. Why the hell didn’t they give him a wireless head mic so he would have both of his hands free for the choreography? Points off for that lack of technical and choreographical foresight. 🙂
Unanswered Question: How did Dami Im get off the sparkly box while wearing that dress?

I thought Australia’s piece was not as wonderful as the jury thought it was. Ukraine was an interesting piece. I think it won because politics. It was almost but not quite entirely anti-Russian AND the voting public surely weren’t going let Australia win the European Song Contest when it isn’t even in Europe. 🙂
Some people on a British FB friend’s page said it was because people were getting back at UK for the Brexit thing. Others said the Brits were voting against Australia because if Australia won, they’d have to host from England next year and nobody wanted that much trouble. 🙂

So my first ESC was an interesting experience and amusing. I may watch it next year, if they’ll let me. 🙂

Today the sun has run away, the cold winds are blowing. It’s 20 degrees cooler outside. It’s amazing how fast the body gets used to summer weather. Three days of sun and temperatures in the 70’s Fahrenheit and now 59ºF with a wind chill is nasty cold.

    Enjoy the day.

    • Hi Caryn!

That’s usually what happens 🙂 At the end one is rather tired but one can’t really stop looking until one knows who won 🙂

I guess that it was the Russian singer who wanted it that way, it is all up the the competing country and the artist to decide what equipment they want and need.I agree though, why? The problem with the Australian piece was that it was rather uneventful, she just sat there on that cube 🙂 A man dressed in black helped her down from it 🙂 I wondered the same, just imagine how it would have looked if she had tried to jump down by herself 🙂 🙂

Of course it was political reasons, Russia has created too many problems with their neighbor countries but I was surprisd it was the jury groups who did it, after all Russia won te viewers votes with a rather big amount of votes. You should be surprised to know how popular Australia is here in Europe 🙂 So that was no problem.

No they hadn’t decided what country would help Australia if they would have won. It would most likely been here in Sweden, we are a super power in this competition and no other country would most likely have two huge arenas filled wioth that much people watching the contest. The Globe takes over 16 000 people and the next door arena was also filled with over 10 000 people 🙂

I know there are Americans that wants You to participate so I’m pretty sure You’ll be able to see it next year too.

Drizzle, some wind and slightly warmer than yesterday but I don’t think we reached 50F 🙂

      Have a great day!

      Christer.

It would have been more interesting if she had jumped off herself. They could’ve packed an airliner emergency escape chute in the bustle of that dress/coat thing she was wearing. 🙂

        May 15, 2016 at 7:58 pm

      • 🙂 🙂 🙂 That would have made it much more interesting and it would most likely have given her the win 🙂

      Christer.
