It has been so warm that most of the snow now is gone ๐Ÿ™‚ There is however some ice left, especially where I have my gate towards the road. I noticed that this morning when I was going to work.

The ditch that is supposed to take all the melted water has seen better days, it got a bit destroyed when they put down the sewer system last year. So I could see some ice by the gate and also a lot of water.

I managed to get down to the gate without slipping to my big surprise ย but I stood on the wrong side of the gate, the hasp to open it up was on the other side. So I took one step out into the ice and water. I felt how my foot lowly started to slide away all by itself and when I tried to stand more on my other foot it too started to wander away by its own accord.

Everything happened in slow motion, I desperately tried to get a good grip on the gate but nothing helped as I slowly, slowly slid down into the water back first ๐Ÿ™‚ It was so ridiculous that I just lay there on my back in the water laughing out loud as the water, rather cold I can tell You, worked its way in towards my body ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ I had to roll around to be able to get up whileย the water was running down my legs.

I was thinking about going inside again and change clothes but decided that I just as well could drive to work because who knows if this had happened again the next time I reached the gate? It took a few hours but I did finally dry up ๐Ÿ™‚

I did wonder if I really was any better.

I started to get bored yesterday so I thought that must mean I’m getting better. So off to work I drove today, the morning was slightly chilly -18C (-0,4F) and the ice on the car windows sat as if it was glued ๐Ÿ™‚ Can’t even pretend I didn’t think that I still might be sick and should stay at home one more day ๐Ÿ™‚

I had a rather calm day but I’m still so tired that it would be really nice to go to bed already now but I will fight and not go to bed until 9pm ๐Ÿ™‚ I must admit that it feels nice to know that it is Friday tomorrow and that my work day ands at noon ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ll drive to Falkรถping to pick up my new phone so I might as well buy everything I need during the weekendย in the super market since that’s where they have the package delivery place now days.

It is just as cold now as it was this morning but all weather sites says that we on Sunday will get much warmer temperatures and it will stay warm for several days after that. Normally I would say I like it but it is still so early that we most likely will get nasty cold weather again so it could just as well stay cold until spring. The roads will be very slippery for a while now and that I don’t like. I don’t mind if the snow melts away though ๐Ÿ™‚

A tad cold today.

From the Zorki 6.

It was -18,4C (-1,1F) when I drove to work this morning and it isn’t much warmer now. Well less cold is perhaps the better choice of words ๐Ÿ™‚ but there’s no wind so it doesn’t feel that bad to be honest. The snow on the ground is very noisy though, it sounds like the ground is breaking every time I take a step ๐Ÿ™‚ Tomorrow morning will be even colder they say, how fun.

The good news though is that my winter boots has arrived to the post office in Falkรถping so I’ll fetch them on my way home from work. They deliver the packages in a super market so I can buy what I need there at the same time. I hope the traffic will be less bad because of the cold weather because even though the town is small the traffic there is just insane! It is hard to find a parking spot too I’m afraid. The weather institutes are asking people not to be outside unnecessary when it is as cold as it will be tomorrow so I hope people listens and stays at home so I can get a parking space easily ๐Ÿ™‚

Professor Snape is dead and by that I mean the great actor Alan Rickman. I’ve seen and admired him in many movies but for me he will always be Professor Snape, the only truly interesting character in the Harry Potter movies. He had a voice that could make any boring text interesting, someone once said that he could read through a telephone book and make it sound as if he was reading poetry ๐Ÿ™‚ I think that was true ๐Ÿ™‚

After all, we do have real winter now.

No new photos until tomorrow but I did find some with snow in them. They are taken with my digital Nikon D5100.

It is -10C (14F) and it will continue to drop they say, as it is now they predict that it will fall down to -13C (8,6F) and they usually show a few degrees warmer than it will be. I live in a cold spot so my guess is that it will fall a few degrees more before it stops. Guess if I’m glad that tomorrow is a holiday here and that I won’t need to scrape any car windows in the early morning ๐Ÿ™‚

They had predicted above 0C (32F) for the weekend and rain but now all weather services predict below that and lots of snow instead. If I understand things right we might get up to 35cm (14 inches) of the white garbage so I can’t even pretend I won’t mind ๐Ÿ™‚ I do mind and a lot too to be honest. Well at least the icy road will be covered with so much snow that I won’t risk slipping when walking on it ๐Ÿ™‚

I nailed a woolen carpet in the dog house opening with big nails and hoped the dogs would let it sit where it was, I have a radiator in the dog house and don’t want it to work too hard unnecessary. Of course they didn’t let it hang there. Instead they pulled it out to the dog yard and I think it is Sune who has used it as a sleeping mat ๐Ÿ™‚ He had one of my old sweaters for that before but as soon as the carpet was dragged outside he brought the old sweater back in to the dog house ๐Ÿ™‚

Nova has an old carpet that looks like a Persian carpet and that one is now in the garage ๐Ÿ™‚ It is very thick and isolates really good towards the cold floor. I just wish they rather had stayed in the warm dog house ๐Ÿ™‚ I have no idea why she loves to stay in the garage (well it is now days more like a storage area since I can’t have any car in there, mice tend to eat all the cables in the engine room ๐Ÿ™‚ ). She has dug a hole that will let her in but for some reason she get stuck if she tries to go back outside again, still she walks in there every day and waits for me there ๐Ÿ™‚

That’s the only kind of snowfall I like.

I'm starting with some Nikon photos, at least they look cold.

I’m starting with some Nikon photos, at least they look cold.

It has just stopped to snow. It snowed for at least 30 hours and still very little can be seen on the ground ๐Ÿ™‚ That’s the only kind of snow fall I actually like ๐Ÿ™‚ We’ve had a steady eastern wind since a few days back and it will continue to come from east or north-east until at least next weekend. Winds from east or north-east in winter always means cold weather. There’s strangely enough no frost on the trees but I guess it is the wind that stops it from forming.

A18976_013

A18976_014

A18976_016

One good thing with that is that my car windows are ice-free and it will most likely stay that way so I won’t need to scrape any car windows tomorrow morning when I’ll drive to work again. I can’t pretend I long to start working but what am I supposed to do when the lottery gods don’t help me ๐Ÿ™‚ At least it is a short working week, it is a holiday (The Epiphany or Three King’s Day) so no work then and on Friday I’ll have my medical examination because I work with an extremely toxic paint sometimes. I do this every second year and I’m not worried the least since I wear the best protection there is.

A18976_017

A18976_018

Since I stop working at noon on Fridays there’s really no idea for me to go to work that day, I would arrive at work just at the time I would have to go Falkรถping for the medical and I would arrive back at work just in time for our weekly meeting and then I would stop working for the day ๐Ÿ™‚ They have moved the health center since I was there the last time so I better remember to ask where it is placedย now ๐Ÿ™‚ I know it is in Falkรถping but that’s it.

I didn’t bring any digital camera this morning either, only the old Zeiss so You’ll see older photos today. We walked down to the little lake on the other side of the village and I could see that it had frozen. Lots of swans were flying above us to the big lake where there’s still open water but of course none could be seen around the little lake. It was a very nice walk where the wind didn’t reach us and I hope the photos will turn out as good as I hope but it was a bit dark to be honest so I’m not sure.

It is time to give all the animals their food and I think I’ll make myself some too. I’ve done all my chores, like the laundry and I’ve fed the birds outside but no deer had been here during the night. I will keep on putting out food because sooner or later they will turn up. The fire is burning in the stove and has all day so my cottage is warm and nice.

Today You’ll only see photos from the Nikon F-401s and the Edixa Prismaflex. The first ones are from the Nikon. I haven’t done any editing on any photo.

According to the weather prediction we’re having a semi sunny weather right now with gusts up to 11m/s (24,6 mph). What we actually is having is cloudy with snowfall and a steady wind which most likely can be around those numbers ๐Ÿ™‚ They have got the temperature right though, around -4C (24,8F) and I guess we can’t hope for a better prediction than that ๐Ÿ™‚

Normally I complain about a blue light in my winter photos, with this camera however it is mostly greenish :-) which I like much better.

A18976_006

We just went for a short walk and not even the dogs seemed to like it especially much. I normally let them decide where to go and today they turned home pretty early. I didn’t even bring a camera just because everything is so grey and dull and to stop for just a few seconds to take a photo would just make me feel cold even if I had lots of clothes on.

Some people like the grainy texture lots of these film photographs get, at least I can say I'm getting used to it and don't dislike it as much now :-)

We will of course take more walks today but I think we should walk in the forest just to stay away from the wind as much as possible. Mostly however we’ll stay indoors and I’ll keep the fire burning in the wooden stove. I think I’ll make lots of cocoa, I got a delicious mix from Joyce in my christmas present which I liked a lot. I don’t think there’s anything worth watching on tv so book reading it will be and perhaps a small nap too ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ve filled the bird feeders, put up a small carpet where the opening to the dog house is and started the radiator so it will be warm and nice on Monday when I’ll go to work. I used big nails so that it will be hard for the dogs to tear it away. They will eventually do that anyway but I have at least triedย my best ๐Ÿ™‚ Later in the afternoon I’ll put out some deer food too, the snow has an icy crust which can be hard for the small deers to get rid of to reach the grass beneath. That usually means they’ll come to our gardens instead.
