High humidity, cloudy sky and warmish isn’t that nice to be walking in to be honest, it is the high humidity that sort of dampens the joy of being out walking. The weak wind there is doesn’t help much but the humidity has already sunken quite dramatically so it does feel better when sitting here in the kitchen with the door open. The clouds are thick but every now and again there’s a tiny rip in them allowing the sunshine to hit the ground for a few seconds at a time.

No rain is predicted for today so the grass might get a chance to dry up and I a chance to mow it. They predict some sunshine for tomorrow though so I guess I’ll get the chance then if I can’t do it today. To be honest, the predictions change just as much as always so it might end up with a hurricane instead πŸ™‚ I won’t complain too much as long as we don’t get frosty nights, I’ve started to bring plants outside for the summer so frosty nights are a no-no from now on.

We walked in some high and wet grass this morning and that is tick paradise. I picked over twenty crawling ticks from both dogs and a few that already was sitting there drinking blood. Nast creatures and they aren’t even especially popular amongst animals as food. Most birds avoid them so it seems they are here on this planet top spread diseases and death. I guess that’s important for nature too, there would be too many animals around otherwise but I still can’t pretend to think ticks are something we really need πŸ™‚

There is always some people who do this that really shouldn’t and heart attacks aren’t uncommon amongst them. Even worse are damaged knees or other joints though. There were two too my big surprise.

It didn’t look especially nice outside when I looked through the windows, a bit dark and dreary to be honest. I have to say it was actually quite nice when we were out walking even if it was around 0C (32F) but since there is no wind at all it is quite pleasant outside. Ok the humidity is sky-high but I can take that when it is a bit chilly.

After that we walked in to a deer, she didn’t care much about us. She just stood there watching us pass by and then she continued to grace as if nothing had happened. Canadian geese came flying from all directions out to the fields to graze as well, we have many more here now than what we had when I moved here. We also saw a couple of Greylag geese flying above us and those were rare here back in those days.

We didn’t go far until I saw a fox. I tried to get as close as possible and at the same time tried to tell a more or less deaf dog to come closer to me without alerting it πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Nova just kept on walking like always so we didn’t get as close as I had hoped but I did get a few photographs of it anyway. Playing fox cubs are the cutest thing there is and I once hired a summer cottage a bit north. There was a small village with two grocery stores! nearby (today it is surprising if a village has anything at all to be honest) and I had decided to walk to one of the grocery stores to get a few things I needed. The clouds are getting thinner and my aunt in Gothenburg just texted me that they have sunshine and 20C (68F) in the sun at 8:30 in the morning. So that’s what I am waiting for right now. I don’t trust our weather predictions but they sound pretty nice at the moment, sunshine the entire next week and they think we might reach 20C (68F) in the shadows by the end of next weekend, that would be nice especially since I have a long weekend then. Ascension day is on Thursday and it is a holiday here and I’ve taken Friday off πŸ™‚

The night was rather chilly so the world was covered in a thing white frost layer, quite beautiful ans since the sun is slightly blocked by thin clouds it stayed for quite some time. Even though we went out later than yesterday the cranes hadn’t arrived and when they finally did we already had passed that field and I really didn’t want to walk back. Β  I can’t decide whether I want to take a nap or to go on another walk. I did nap too long yesterday so even if I was really tired yesterday evening I still had troubles falling asleep. The problem is that if even if one set the alarm it is too hard to get up if one still is very sleepy πŸ™‚ I’ve heard that a nap shouldn’t be longer than maximum 30 minutes, I’m not sure I would have heard the alarm after only 30 minutes yesterday πŸ™‚

So a new year begins but I really can’t see any difference. It is a bit warmer than I had expected and we never got any fog as they had predicted, it is more like a slightly thicker haze to be honest. The snow is melting since it is above 0C (32F) but the melting water just freeze when it covers the road, so the road does look as if it is glazed with glass.

It was an adventure to walk in to the village because I think it would have been smarted to wear ice skates than rubber boots πŸ™‚ It looked as if there was a safe piece to walk on in the middle of the road but there wasn’t. The gravel was just as slippery there as it was elsewhere, so I mostly walked in the ditches all the way round πŸ™‚ It was so much better when I walked out to the fields instead where only a few tractors had been driving and the snow just melted without freezing to ice again.

We’re having a really nice day, almost summer warm, no clouds in the sky but very windy. A big storm is passing north of here (Norway will be hit the worst I’ve read) and some of the wind reach us too. The forest takes the most of it so I can mostly just hear it here but my car was tossed here and there on my way home. First I went to the vet station to get Orvar back home and after that I drove to the garage to get a rubber gasket because one was broken on my car and some oil dropped out on the hot engine. Not much but the smell wasn’t nice πŸ™‚

I’ll get new working hours for the three coming weeks. When I go home in the afternoon a new shift starts and they’ll be working way into the night. I wouldn’t mind to continue to have these hours after these three weeks either, it won’t be long until it is dark when I leave home and dark when I leave work. We went to where I lived before I moved here to the village at the outskirts of the world. I had planned to walk in the forest with them but hunters were out hunting so we stayed on the roads by the fields and to the castle that once was built there. It is the youngest castle in Sweden and is just slightly older than 100 years. It has a somewhat interesting history but I’ll tell You more about that when the film rolls from the old cameras are developed. I might have destroyed the film I had in the Hasselblad camera because I dropped it when I was going to tape it together. Light must have leaked in and most likely on the photos I took by the castle. I also had the digital camera with me and the Rolleicord.

There's a golf course just beside the castle and this is the club house. I missed taking a photo of the golf course :-)

It was always easy to explain to people where I lived. Just turn where the big barn is :-)

A beautiful place to have tractors in.

This is the promised land for wind power plants. I think I read that this county produce more electricity by wind power than the entire county use in one year.

Trees have grown big since I moved away fifteen years ago so I couldn’t see the cottage I lived in from where we walked but to be honest, it looks much the same as the cottage I live in now πŸ™‚ It is time to make a pot of tea and after that I think I’ll take a nap.

The stones You can see to the left are parts of a bronze age grave. There are severalothers close to it.

Not a good combination.

I guess we'll have plenty of Gold Finches here this winter, they just love thistle seeds.

We’ve had a really nice summer day again here, nature doesn’t seem to understand that autumn should slowly have arrived now. I can feel autumn in the air when I go to work in the mornings though, it sort of smells like it now. Leafs have started to turn yellow and the autumn berries are all more or less ripe now. But it is so dry now that the mushrooms have stopped growing and they are now drying up and becoming fewer again, it’s only the corpse mushroom (they smell like rotten flesh) that still grows as if it is raining like it has all summer πŸ™‚

Nova is a bit grumpy when it comes to her food now, nothing is good enough for her in the morning, she sniffs at it some and then leaves. I just put it in the fridge as the stone hearted man I am but always put something extra in it in the afternoon when she gets it again πŸ™‚ She’s just the same when it comes to treats, only the best and most expensive is good enough for her πŸ™‚ It usually lasts for a week or two and then she’s back to normal again πŸ™‚

Heather is making a comeback in the forest.

I worked in the neighbor factory today so time just flew by, I was a bit stressed since it was my turn to buy the buns and cookies for our weekly meeting. I managed to arrive just a bit late thankfully πŸ™‚ After work I drove to the pharmacy in FalkΓΆping to get Orvar’s medicine and as always they didn’t have it but I ordered it so it will arrive tomorrow and I’ll drive there to get it in the morning, FalkΓΆping isn’t that fun to be honest so I’ll try to make it a short visit πŸ™‚ I might make a stop at the Tea and Coffee shop though, I want some cherry tea and they do sell the most delicious ice cream too πŸ™‚ Nasty expensive to be honest but as I said, it is delicious πŸ™‚

No need to mow the lawn this week πŸ™‚ It is so dry now that lots of lawns are turning yellow. Mine isn’t but at least it looks like it has stopped growing πŸ™‚ One of my apple trees have delicious apples ready to be eaten now, they are no good for storage so I just pick them from the tree and start eating. I could of course make an apple pie with them so I better check what I have here at home, I think I need custard or perhaps I should make my own this time but then I need other things, like vanilla.

It is time to have some dinner, today I’ll have sausages and french fries, I’ve just put it all in the oven. I never deep fry the fries myself, hot oil and happy dogs is a bad combination to be honest πŸ™‚
