Yesterday was a horrible day at work, I don’t know how it was outside though. It might have been rather wonderful since the day was so warm but it was also mostly cloudy they said. I had the big luck to hand paint all day so the already hot factory was even for me since the air from the oven hit me all day. I don’t know how much water I drank but it was too little. The big problem is that what goes in must go out too 🙂
I woke up to a very foggy morning today, it was so thick that I couldn’t see my neighbors cottage and it is just 20 meters (much the same in yards) away 🙂 I hurried out with the dogs because as soon as the sun started to warm up the already warm air the fog thinned. We were able to enjoy it all through our walk though. It doesn’t happen often but today even the forest were full of fog.
I went home a bit early today because thunder arrived and the lights were blinking at work. It hit somewhere in the village where I work and was moving eastwards so I figured it would arrive here at home before me if I stayed until my working day ended. It hasn’t arrived yet because it moved very slowly. I have heard it in the distance and the site Real Time Lightning Map (click on the red text and a new window showing the site will pop up, it works all over the world) shows that the thunder is just north of where I live.
I better stop here just in case it turns south, I can feel how it is getting colder by the minute now so I guess it is 🙂
Have a great day!
It is a cold but sunny morning here and we were out walking as soon as the sun started to rise above the horizon. The frost cover wasn’t as thick that I had thought, the below freezing degrees started already yesterday evening. The absence of wind made it much nicer that it was to be honest.
The rain they had predicted for today is now moved to Sunday, that means I’ll have to mow the lawn no matter if I want to or not 🙂 If I wait another week the grass will be so long that my mower won’t manage to cut it and who knows if we’ll have sunshine next week, they are wobbly enough to predict the weather just a day ahead so just imagine how bad it is when they try to do it for a week 🙂
I shouldn’t have slept that long yesterday even if I most likely needed it. I had problems falling asleep and I woke up just after 4 am too but I did feel relaxed so it was a good sleep the little I got. I can’t say we have daylight already at that time now but it sure shows that the day is close. Today the sun went up at 5:32 am and soon we won’t have much night at all here and further north they won’t have it at all since the sun will stay above the horizon 24/7.
Lots of birds are singing and we heard a deer warn about something with is odd barking but we didn’t see any other animals today. We walked to the clean creek but it was even too cold for Sune to take a bath today, I even saw some ice at the edges of the water. Mist “pillars” were rising by the little lake and according to folklore that’s fairies dancing before the day starts. Fairies are actually quite nasty beings, they love to give children diseases and they might even kill them if they want to.
The wind has started to blow some so I guess the grass soon will have dried up enough for me to mow it. I better check all the electric cords so they still work, I had problems with one of them last summer if memory serves me right. I think I’ll have time for a pot of tea before mowing though 🙂
Have a great day!
The bog ladies had had a chilly and wet night so I can understand that they had had many fires burning during the night 🙂
It is actually quite nice outside even if the sun isn’t shining and the occasional rain drop falls down. It is slightly above 10C (50F) at the moment and the little wind that’s there is just nice. I wouldn’t mind if the cracks in the clouds were a bit bigger but we can’t get it all, can we 🙂
I had hoped that I would be able to mow the lawn today, not because I like it but it is soon a bit too long but it is still so wet that my mower just would clog up totally. Most of the Wood anemones have buds now, I have a few different ones like the Yellow one but also a few different of the white one. Soon I’ll see white, blue, green and white with a blue eye flowering in my woodland.
I have a few plants in my cool cellar and I’m thinking of bringing them up so I can turn off the greenhouse lamp down there, it eats energy but is great for the plants. The problem is that if we get a setback how well can I cover them, they already have leafs. I’ll place them on the patio close to the cottage wall and that usually keep the frost away. The sunshine however, if we get some that is, is the biggest problem. Just like us plants need to adjust to it so they don’t get burned.
Tomorrow will be cold and rainy they say so perhaps I should wait with picking up those plants. This is the time of year when weather can change within minutes, one minute it’s sunny and warm and the next snow can fall.
It is time to have a pot of tea and after that we’ll take another walk.
Have a great day!
We had such wonderful weather on Monday and Tuesday that it just was impossible to stay indoors for any longer time. Today isn’t that bad either but it is cloudy and has been for most of the day.
Still, birds are singing and farmers are plowing their fields, they have also put manure everywhere so it smells rather bad in some places 🙂 Most of it is now plowed down though, they all want to finish the job before the rain starts falling, something the predictions still debate over when that actually is happening 🙂
It is time to get something to eat, all the animals have already gotten their food but Nova decided to not have hers this evening. She does like that sometimes and I have no idea why. I guess she’s hoping I’ll drop something of what I’m having but I’ll be extra careful today 🙂
Have a great day!
The day started out slightly foggy and drizzly, the fog gave up but the drizzle kept on until early afternoon. It has been warm though and the wind has been rather weak so it has been pleasant to take walks anyway. I had planned on doing some repotting of plants but instead a took a nap, an hour and a half long nap and the only reason I woke up was because of a telemarketer. I was actually quite happy she called so I finally woke up but not so happy that I bought anything from her 🙂
I have tried to find any folklore about the beings and their activities at Easter but have found almost nothing, only the witches seems to have been active this holiday. I guess however they are out and about like always though even if humans were more concentrated on scaring witches. I did however find a lot of sites about the old Norse believes and can dig in to that if You wish to know more. The Norse beliefs (or Asa tron as we call it) is a growing religion here though even if few say it out loud yet. Almost all swedish names for the days in the week comes from the Norse gods. Monday and Saturday sort of linked to it too since Monday is the Moon’s day (it was pulled across the sky by the horse Rimfaxe) and the sun was pulled across the sky by the horse Skinfaxe).
Tuesday (Tisdag in Swedish) is Tyr’s day, he was the son Of Oden. Wednesday (Onsdag in Swedish) is Oden’s day. Thursday (Torsdag in Swedish) is Thor’s day (His name in swedish is Tor) and Friday is Freya’s day (She’s called Freja in Swedish), Saturday however has nothing to do with any beliefs, it is the day for baths 🙂 Saturday is called Lördag in Swedish and to löga is to take a bath in old Swedish 🙂
It is time to shave off all the hair on my head again, it doesn’t matter how much I wash my hair, I can still find powder paint if I scratch on my skull 🙂
Have a great day!
Sorry about not posting anything on Tuesday, I suddenly had lots to do and it lasted til Wednesday too. Now things are back to normal again and I hope it stays that way, I really don’t like unexpected work, to be honest I don’t like expected work that much either 🙂
We’ve had foggy mornings here and yesterday when the fog finally lifted we reached a bit over 15,5C (59,9F). I did feel that it was much warmer at my work place and I drank loads of water but not enough anyway because the headache came like a letter in the mail. We should have gotten much the same weather today but even if the fog finally lifted it stayed as thick clouds in the sky. Still it did get reasonable warm anyway and since I had to work I really didn’t mind if the sun didn’t shine 🙂
I brought old-time cameras with me in the mornings so I hope I’ll get some nice fog photos to show when those films are developed. I could only stop for a few minutes in each place if I didn’t want to come too late to work. I have some film photos to show already today though and I think I saw some fog in a few of them 🙂 I do hope that we’ll get fog on Saturday morning too, the Norwegian site say we might because if we do I’ll try to get to the bog lake again to take more photos there. They say that there’s a path going around the lake and I’ll see if I can find it, after all the sun is up until well after 6pm now so I will have lots of time if I start early in the morning.
The other painter at work works beside the line where I work with a separate smaller oven and he usually take all bigger things that are too big to put on the line. Normally It is I who help him to place the things right before he starts to paint them. Today he only had nasty heavy things and all were soo big that we couldn’t use the lift (a chain and hook hanging in the roof) so we had to do everything using only our muscles, we don’t have plenty of that I’m afraid 🙂 At one moment I had to have my hands lifted above my head for over five minutes, that’s not nice 🙂 When I was going home I wanted to pick up some garbage from the floor and I barely could do it, guess if my back was stiff after today 🙂 🙂 I guess that one shouldn’t go on like this if one has rheumatism in the spine 🙂 I’m soo looking forward to tomorrow morning when I’ll try to get out of bed 🙂 🙂
It is time to get something to eat, I’m thinking hard flatbread with cheese and I think liver pate and sausages of some kind 🙂
Have a great day!
It was cold during the night, almost -15C (5F) and the world had been colored almost totally white. What was even better was that we had a quite thick fog too and no wind at all, so our morning walk was rather pleasant and we were all painted with some frost in our hair. The sun did shine through the clouds after a while and has kept on shining more or less the entire day. It’ll be like this for a few days now, too bad I’ll be working all day.
This year my lime tree gave me three small limes and two days ago I harvested the first one, We all know that limes are pale yellow-greenish when we cut them open so guess if I got surprised when this first one was brightly orange 🙂 I’ve never heard of a lime having orange fruit pulp and it looked rather amazing to the green outside. It tasted as it should though but the taste was stronger than I had thought it would be since it doesn’t get especially much sunlight here during the winter. I’ll photograph the next one if it is as orange as this one.
We walked down to the creek later on and I didn’t know that the horse guy would be working today. I didn’t have any digital camera with me so when he and the horses suddenly walked out in front of me there just wasn’t time enough to adjust the camera to take a photo. We walked up-stream and I did think that I should save the last photo just in case we would be lucky again but how big would the chances be that I would be able to adjust the camera before he had went on elsewhere?
So I took that last photo on the roll and guess if I got annoyed when we met him again, standing still while cutting down a big tree stump, against the light so the last fog could be seen in the distance! It is one of those photos I’ll never take I’m afraid 🙂 It is like when one is out fishing and almost get that big fish and no one believes the story since there is no evidence 🙂
It is time to take a last walk before it gets dark I think. Tomorrow the sun will stay up until one minute after I’ve stopped working 🙂 It won’t be long now until I’ll have enough daylight to get some photographs when the dogs and I are out walking after work, I think a week or one and a half.
Have a great day!
I’m late as always on Mondays and I’ll have to pay my bills after this so todays post will be a short one.
It is rather warm outside and the snow is melting rather fast, the only problem I have with that is that the roads in the village get so Icy that it is hard to walk here. I almost slid by my mailbox when I came home 🙂
The bigger roads however were really good and thank g for that because it was so thick fog that I hardly could see the road sometimes. So once again I must admit that they were right in the weather predictions!! That can actually be a sign of the end of the world as we know it 🙂 🙂
It is time to pay my bills and after that I’ll have something to eat.
Have a great day!
They had promised fog all day today and fog we had but as we say over here,it was nothing to write home about. It is not until now when the sun is about to go down that it really thickened up properly. I guess that it will be as thickest when I’m on my way to work tomorrow, when I really don’t want any fog 🙂 I must however admit that the predictions were absolutely right and that isn’t something I say often 🙂
It has been a rather nice day temperature wise, 4C (39,2F) and the snow is melting away rather fast. There’s still plenty around but the dripping from our roofs have been steady and I have seen gravel on the road where they have plowed it. Even the stairs to my door will be snow free by tomorrow if it doesn’t get too cold during the night. Still, I have started a fire in the stove just in case the humidity outside would try to get indoors too.
I’ve done the laundry like I always do on Sundays, I still have a few working t-shirts to do since the powder paint tends to get stuck on anything that is washed at the same time. I really should do the dishes too but I don’t feel that I have the energy for it 🙂 I’m pretty sure it won’t run away so it can wait until tomorrow instead. I’ll also make dinner for work today, I’ll have meatballs, breakfast sausages and I think pasta with a tomato sauce. I really would like fried potatoes but then I need to boil the potatoes and then fry them and as I said I don’t have the energy for it 🙂
Well I better start with the dinner and after that I’ll make myself something else to eat now. All the animals have already gotten their food so they will all sit by my side while I make my food just in case I would drop something or give them bits of it 🙂
Have a great day!
I waited for quite some time today but no hunters showed up. I wonder if they might have stopped for the season or if they just changed place to hunt at, they have a rather small area but I think it is split in two parts and sometimes they’re here and sometimes in the other place. It was quite chilly but not as cold as they had predicted in any weather site. No wind and the world filled with rime.
I had decided to walk the way I almost always do and try to go round the once rather big island in this previous shallow lake. I’ve been looking at aerial photographs so I knew more or less how to walk to arrive where we went yesterday afternoon. Instead I changed my mind the last second when we reached the bog and walked to the place we were yesterday and decided it would be nice to walk the known area on our way back home again.
The aerial photographs really doesn’t show how it looks on the ground 🙂 They show the big pines (the most common tree out there) and spruces very well but not the tiny bog-myrtle plants which grows everywhere or the birches in all varieties of sizes 🙂 So when we had walked for almost one and a half hour I realised that I had no real idea where I was 🙂 I knew I had to be very close to the place where I was supposed to be but wasn’t sure if I would continue or go back. It would have been so much easier if the sun had shone like all weather sites said it should. Then at least I would have known if I had started to walk in circles 🙂
The bog is around 10 square kilometers (3,861 square miles) so it is possible to get totally lost but at the same time one can hear things happening on the opposite side of it. Today I heard a chainsaw and could have followed that sound to get out on the other side if needed. Still, the snow was pretty deep in most places so I would have no energy to go anywhere when I finally had arrived to the other side 🙂 I decided to go back the same way we had come (after looking at the aerial photographs again when we had come home I realise I was perhaps only 30 meters (much the same in yards) to where I normally walk 🙂
The sun never showed but just as I finally knew where we were and almost back to where we started the fog began to roll in over the bog. Tobe lost a sunny day is bad enough but to be lost when thick fog comes isn’t good at all. We arrived back home to the cottage after three hours and we are all very tired but I know the dogs loved this 🙂 I had to keep an extra eye on Nova, she has started to become deaf on one ear and the other is usually concentrated on other things than me saying stuff to her 🙂 The risk of her wandering of is big but today she finally understood that I really wanted her to listen to me and she also followed Sune when I called for him.
I didn’t see any animals but lots of tracks after them. I think we scared away a moose because the place where it had been laying still looked very fresh. There also were tracks from hogs, Red deer, Roe deers, and Black Grouse. I also think I saw tracks from a fox but they were a bit old so it could just as well have been tracks from a hunting dog. If the long-term weather predictions are right we might have a chance of going out on the bog next weekend too, they say it will become warmer next Sunday so if the hunters aren’t around I’ll go out there again but the usual way instead 🙂
It is time to make some rose-hip soup, there’s nothing better after a long walk on the bog. The dogs are sleeping and have been since we came home 🙂
Have a great day!
Weather predictions says we’ll get around 15cm (6 inches) of snow tomorrow and depending on how often one watch the updates it can either stay with a few degrees below freezing, melt away because it will be a few degrees above freezing or rain away some time tomorrow afternoon. After that it’ll get cold again so the roads can either be full of snow, clean from snow but very icy or perhaps both 🙂 🙂 I can’t guess what it might be because they still have plenty of time to change the predictions yet 🙂 🙂
Today however has stayed around 0C (32F), it might have been a degree warmer or colder but nothing noticeable. No frost though, I think the cold air came a bit too late for that and we have had it almost sunny for a while, we also had fog for a few minutes in the morning and I think it was those clouds that stopped us from seeing the sun when they rose in the air. I could see the clear blue sky north of here all day.
There’s a tradition amongst hunters to hunt on boxing day so I haven’t been able to walk in the forest the entire day. I heard the dog yapping a lot but I never heard anyone shoot so I guess they weren’t lucky. Some of them even left quite early but there are still some out there stopping me from walking around as I please. I must admit though that if it hadn’t been for them I would most likely have missed most of the fog so I guess I shouldn’t complain too much 🙂
The lynx is (are? usually we have a female here and the male tends to visit here next month or so) moving around here right now, my neighbor and I found a dead deer when we were out walking yesterday and the head was removed from the body, a typical thing for a lynx to do. The deer had most likely been there for some time because it had started ti smell, so I have to say I am surprised that Nova didn’t try to roll around on it, she just loves to smell awful 🙂 I do hope they don’t have any license to shoot lynx here.
So tomorrow You will most likely, or perhaps perhaps or not at all see snowy photos here, it all depends on which prediction comes closest to reality 🙂 You might or might not see frosty photos instead 🙂 One thing is certain though, there were no snowy photos today 🙂
Have a great day!
We’re having much the same weather here today as we had yesterday, foggy and cloudy (and perhaps a bit more windy) but the fog could have been better to be honest. As it is now it just make the day even more gloomy. I’ve already fallen asleep in front of the tv twice and we’ve barely passed noon yet.
I’ve filled the bird feeders and it took some time until the birds came to see what they had gotten, sunflower seeds. But a flock with several Bullfinches passed by to eat the seeds from the weeds in my garden, they are kind of picky so they won’t eat anything from my feeders until their favorite seeds are gone.
I have some laundry to do but I’ll do nothing besides that today. Well a few more walks with the dogs but that’s it. I think I would have had more energy if we had had sunshine today, or at least a better fog 🙂
It is time to make a bowl with vanilla yoghurt, sliced apples and some cinnamon 🙂
Have a great day!
This is a not doing much day, it is grey and somewhat foggy outside but rather warm even if it isn’t even remotely close to what they predicted earlier in the week. At least it isn’t raining even if we actually need quite a lot of rain now, most smaller creeks are now totally dry and even the bigger ones show signs of a draught here now. I don’t mind to be honest, I’m hoping this might kill lots of fly larvae who needs wet or moist ground to survive.
We went down to the bog and the smaller creek today but I turned around quickly when I suddenly had at least four moose flies crawling around on my arms and hands at the same time. I think I had a few in my hair as well and that is truly a nasty feeling. They don’t die if one hits them either, they just shrug a bit and keeps on crawling around. Their bite is nasty and they spread the same diseases as ticks do. A moose fly looks very much like deer lice and I truly hate them. We really need a really cold night so they all die!
I couldn’t get rid of that feeling some were crawling around in my hair so as soon as I came home I shaved it all off 🙂 It was time to do so anyway but this helped me to actually do it 🙂 There were no in my hair though and it still feels like they are there 🙂 So now I need to find my baseball cap to wear as soon as we walk in to the forest again, there’s no need for one otherwise because it’s so warm still.
It is time to start thinking of a photo to use as christmas card. I have a few old ones that I can use but I still have time to photograph something else if I want to. Traditional christmas cards here usually have red birds, like the Bullfinch, the Yule gnome of course. Pigs are rather common too and sometimes if it shows the nature there’s usually Red toadstools in them too. So the ultimate card should show all of those I think but I doubt I’ll manage to get them all in to one photo 🙂 Especially the gnome will be tough to get 🙂
It is time to make a pot of tea and perhaps we’ll manage to take another walk before it gets dark again. Today the sun rose at 7:17 am and it will set at 4:20 pm and the days just continues to be shorter and shorter.
Have a great day!
Every time the fixed one error code in my car a new one turned up. When they thought they finally had fixed the last one they took a run with the car and just as they were turning off the motor a new error code turned up 🙂 The car is old so they are mainly using used but working parts, otherwise I would most likely cry when I see the bill on Friday when they’ll fix this last thing (knock on wood).
Despite predictions fog turned up last night and naturally we had frost too, I wouldn’t have mind it on a weekend but the ice was as strong as concrete when I tried to scrape the car windows and the fog was so thick that it was hard to see where I was driving. It was even worse than usual since I had left my car at the garage and used their pick up instead, it is like driving a battle ship compared to my own car 🙂 But I have to say that it has a fantastic heater, it was so warm in the car that even after I had lowered it a lot I still had to drive with one window open 🙂
I met the land owner of most of the forest here when we were out walking after work. They had decided to destroy the latest dam the beavers had built upstream towards the bog. So they drove a big digger up on the rather soggy roads and got stuck. The reason the road was so soggy was because someone else already had torn down the dam 🙂 Too bad they didn’t tell the land owner who now have the problem of trying to get the digger back to more solid ground again. I did think someone already had torn down the dam because the water level is quite high in the creek but no rain has fallen in weeks.
It is time to make something to eat and a big cup of warm cocoa. They say we won’t get any frost tonight but I’ll believe it if it happens 🙂
Have a great day!
The sun has fought a long time now and finally it has done its job on the chilly, wonderful fog we had here all morning. I woke up to a frosty morning as well and I must say I enjoyed it a lot. I do prefer warm summer days but since I can’t stop colder weather from coming here I might as well just enjoy mornings like this 🙂 I guess I’ll be happy for as long as we don’t get any snow 🙂
We walked down to the creek but I didn’t hope to see any hogs in the fog, the castles cattle was walking in the fields close to the forest and I’ve noticed that very few wild animals seems to like cattle or tame animals and tend to stay away when those are out in the fields. We were a lot down by the fields beside the creek yesterday too, I had brought my old Hasselblad camera and without noticing it I dropped the light meter. Not the best places to do that I’m afraid.
I had of course not watched how or where I was walking around in that field but I knew I didn’t go especially close to the creek. If Orvar still would have been around this would not have been any problem, he was a master of finding dropped things. Nova and Sune however is rather lousy in doing that 🙂 Orvar was a natural so I only gave him something to smell and then told him to find it. Nova smelled on the little bag where the light meter used to be in and ran away and Sune tried to chew on it 🙂
I walked around in that field for an hour and just couldn’t find it. The grass is semi long so anything that sort of slid beneath the grass would be hidden for the rest of the time. So we went home and I found another lightmeter on our eBay (called Tradera) and was quite annoyed that I had been so sloppy and dropped it. We went back there in the afternoon and after a while I started to walk perhaps 5 meters (much the same in yards) closer to the creek ands I found it 🙂 Pure luck because I was close to kick on it before I finally saw it 🙂 So I rushed home and went in on Tradera to reduce the size of my bid. Guess if I was glad not to win that light meter 🙂
It is time to make a big pot of tea, I’ve already fallen asleep in front of the tv twice this morning 🙂 so perhaps it would be better to make a big pot of coffee instead 🙂 I think they show NCIS Los Angeles soon and I guess that is a good as anything they show this morning. They tend to find way too many muslim terrorists though 🙂 It may look like something else in the beginning but it always turns out that way. At least Hetty is an interesting person in that show 🙂
Have a great day!
We woke up to an even colder and foggier morning today, -4,5C (23,9F). It was beautiful but since I didn’t know what the road would be like and that it is impossible to see any animals close or on the road until it might be too late it was anything but fun to drive around in. So I drove rather slowly just in case.
I brought my camera with me so I can show You what the road home from work looks like now. This was actually the first time I had my camera on fully automatic mode and I didn’t like it at all. For some reason the camera decided to use the flash even though it was quite bright on my way home. I tried to edit it but those photos do look a bit odd but You’ll see what it looks like anyway 🙂
I had to buy a new coffee maker (I make tea in mine most of the time) on my way home. I really wanted a small one just big enough to make two big cups but the problems with these small machines is that designers who make them always seems to think that the most important thing with them is to look cute, if it works pouring out anything without spilling everywhere isn’t that important. My last machine was like that so this time I bought a normal sized one.
It is black and takes up way to much space so now I need to see what I really want to have standing on the kitchen counter. It did make hot tea though and that is so important that the space problem really is rather small 🙂 I still haven’t gotten my films developed so I mailed the business yesterday and they answered that they are moving to a new place and that it will take some time until everything works as normal again but they have received my film rolls. I can be patient as long as I know the rolls have arrived to them.
It is time for something to eat, the dogs and cats have just had their dinners. I think I’ll make some tea with my new machine, I woke up by coughing so much already before four this morning so I doubt that any tea will keep me awake for especially long tonight 🙂
Have a great day!
They had predicted fog for this morning so I looked out the window as soon as I woke up and became a bit disappointed, I couldn’t see especially much fog to be honest, even less than normal on an autumn morning to be honest. That change quickly, it didn’t even take thirty minutes until we had thick and nice fog here.
We started to walk just before the sun was about to rise above the horizon and I thought that as soon as that happened the fog would quickly evaporate and vanish but just the opposite happened, the fog just became thicker instead, it rolled around in waves so sometimes it was so thick that I barely could see the road in front of me 🙂 That is fog as I think it should be but only on days when I don’t have to drive to work. I once drove´in such a thick fog that I missed the road I should turn in to, to reach my job, I drove for miles before I realised my mistake 🙂
We walked down to the creek but I didn’t expect to see any hogs this morning, they have fixed the electric fence again but I think they must change the battery because normally it ticks when power is on and today it was totally quiet. There were lots of cattle around as well and I’ve noticed that when ever there are lots of cattle around there’s very little wildlife around. I did see two deers but that was it. I didn’t even see any moose flies even if it was warm enough for them to be flying around, I know there are out there but I was lucky this morning.
The fog stayed for several hours and I thought it would be a good idea to load one of my old cameras with black and white film and as soon as I was ready to go outside the fog vanished 🙂 I can still see some in the distance so I hope it will make a comeback but I think that despite the cloudy sky we still are closer to sunshine than to more fog. That is what they have predicted anyway. I can always bring the old camera tomorrow morning, the chances of having fog in the mornings now in autumn are pretty big even if it only lasts for a short while.
I think I’ll iron my jeans dry, they are soaking wet after the morning walk. I’ve realised I have bought fantastic shoes though, my feet were completely dry when we came home. I knew it was a good idea to buy shoes from a business that mostly sell clothes, shoes and other things to hunters. They might not be stylish but they sure keep what they promise!
It is time for a pot of tea and then ironing my jeans dry 🙂
Have a great day!
My car will be at the garage tomorrow to get a few things fixed before the annual vehicle inspection on Wednesday. Nothing big so I didn’t expect any expensive bill to pay but then! I had just started to back out my car from my parking space when it suddenly had no power at all, the engine just died. So I started it again and it seemed to work fine when I slowly started to drive forward.
Once again it had no power to speak about, it sort of jumped forward and it smelled really strange. I thought that there was no use in stopping and feel sorry for myself so I forced it forward and for about 100 meters (much the same in yards) it didn’t work well at all and it smelled even stranger. Then suddenly it went back to normal and worked like a clock all the way home??!!
I’ve called the garage so if it doesn’t work tomorrow they’ll come and get me. The garage owner thought that it might be the turbo that broke down but then there should be lots of dark smoke coming out the exhaust pipe and the car shouldn’t work as a clock at any time after that. I know he was speaking about a sensor the last time the car behaved strange, it wasn’t that sensor that time (it was another sensor) so perhaps it is that one this time. I’ll know tomorrow what it was.
I slept for almost four hours last night! 🙂 I know it was almost exactly four hours because I woke up because I coughed so badly just before 1am, I went downstairs drank some water, took a photo of the not yet blood moon and went back to sleep and didn’t wake up until the alarm started at 5am I went out just in time to see the blood moon and tried to take a photo but it was so dark that I would have needed to use the tripod and that was just too much work 🙂
It is time to make some food and I’ll also have a table-spoon of absolutely fresh honey, the beekeeper just gave me a jar 🙂 This year it is a much milder honey, the one he got last year was a tiny bit bitter.
Have a great day!
I thought last night would be rather cough free and it started out that way. I think I slept almost three hours without coughing but then it started. It was a horrible night and I really hope this was the turning point because I don’t think I’ll survive another night like that. I fell asleep in front of the tv now this morning, I slept for almost an hour without coughing but I couldn’t feel my right arm when I woke up, it took almost half an hour to get the circulation in the arm going again 🙂 🙂 🙂
We had frost here in the early morning but I thought it would be much worse than it was because the temperature fell rather quickly already last evening. I did find my winter jacket though because it did feel way to cold to just wear a fleece jacket. I do hope I won’t have to wear it for quite some time more, even if it was really warm and nice. I don’t feel that I’m ready for cold winter days yet.
It was rather nice outside but the cold dry air did make me cough some more so there was no chance of seeing any wild hogs today, they could hear me from miles away 🙂 In fact I was the only thing that could be heard at all this morning, no cars, birds or other animals made a sound, I guess the cold air made most animals to just sit still trying to stay warm until the sun would reach them. It wasn’t until we had arrived here at home that I could hear a few flocks of geese flying south.
Today I’ll do very little, I’ll rest and that’s it. Ok I’ll take a few walks with the dogs but that’s just relaxing. I won’t talk much because I really have no voice left today and it just hurts too much anyway. I will also make myself some waffles, too long since I had that 🙂
Have a great day!
I woke up in the middle of the night because my throat hurt so badly and I didn’t even try to swallow anything, it just ached so badly. It still aches but not nearly close to what it was like in the middle of the night. It does however feel like my lungs will fall of every time I cough 🙂 🙂 I have no fever though and I guess and hope that’s a good sign.
We’re having a rather nice morning here, it started with heavy fog and it is still quite foggy but the sun does its best to wipe it away. So far it isn’t especially successful though 🙂 It is still quite chilly, I thought we might get frost during the night but that never happened. There’s very little flies left so I don’t mind that the frost never arrived, especially since we got this wonderfully foggy morning.
We started our walk by walking in to the village, the fog was so think that it didn’t matter that I now have autofocus to rely on, the camera couldn’t find anything to focus on 🙂 I also brought the old Rolleicord, it is loaded with black and white film and I wondered how good the fog will show in those photos. I did try to photograph a spider web with the old one but the entire camera was so fogged up that I’m not sure I focused on the web or anything else 🙂 I still have two photos to take on that roll so it’ll take some time until, we can see the results.
We turned down to the fields when we were almost at home again, as long as Orvar and Hector still were around I didn’t dare going for too long since I never knew if they would make it all the way home but both Nova and Sune needs to run around more than they have lately (and to be honest, I need it a lot too 🙂 ). Just as we turned down to the fields lots of hunters came and I wonder why. It isn’t moose hunting season yet and I thought for a while that it might be a hunt for wild hogs but I could only see a tiny Beagle and I doubt they’ll use that for wild hog. That little dog would just be a nice breakfast for them.
Still, I am bit confused that they all came here since it is so foggy even in the forest, they can’t see a thing. The sun is losing the battle against the fog too at the moment, it looks like it is getting thicker again. I don’t mind, that would only mean I’ll get a chance to get more foggy photos later today 🙂 The cold air did also help with my throat and lungs so I hope we’ll have this weather all day long.
It is time to make a big pot of tea and I’ll put all the ginger I have at home in it, I don’t have that much ginger at home so I’m hoping to shock the system with it all at the same time 🙂
Have a great day!
I woke up to a very foggy world this morning and it wasn’t ground fog but “real” fog this time. I took a few photos of it before I left but decided to bring the Minolta camera I’m testing right now to get some photos by the tiny lake on my way to work. I hadn’t driven especially far when the fog vanished, the fog was only thick around the bog it seems.
I did get a few nice photos before the roll had ended but not with any fog, I took a few on my way home instead and these photos You’ll see late this month or early next depending on how much I use the old cameras. I had hoped I would get to see some from those I put in the mailbox late last week but it looks as if I’ll have to wait at least one more day for those.
Sune knows he’s only allowed to take a bath in two of all the creeks around here but today he didn’t care about what he is allowed to do or not, I just heard a big splash and up from the ditch came a not black and white dog but a brown one smelling something nasty! So the first thing I had to do when we came home again was to shower him. It is amazing that a dog who loves water that much can hate to take a shower 🙂 but he suffered through it silently.
The first thing he tried to do was to run inside and I missed to stop him! Now, Sune is a dog who one can’t shout too much to because he gets so scared that he starets to pee 🙂 I di try to talk nicely to him to get him outside again before my entire home would be soaking in water. It is amazing how a normally very obedient dog sort of can give you the finger and just refuse to listen. So for once I shouted really loudly towards him and now he walks around looking like I tried to kill him 🙂 🙂 🙂 I think I scared Nova and Orvar too and most possibly my neighbors as well 🙂
It is time for something to eat and then I’ll try to make Sune like me again 🙂 He’s looking suspiciously at me right now and when I try to pet him on the head he just lowers it and look miserable but he smells nice 🙂
Have a great day!
I woke up in the early morning by the sound of rain hitting my cottage really hard, I can’t remember any of the weather reports mentioning rain during the night so I have to admit that I was a bit surprised. They have actually been rather accurate in their predictions lately so I had forgotten how often they actually are wrong :-)Otherwise it seems as if the weather will continue in the same manner as yesterday, some rain, some sun but so far no more rain.
It wasn’t that cold this morning to be honest but the high humidity made it feel like it was, so I wore a fleece sweater on our walk. I could see mist rising up on the mountain as soon as the sun showed itself and even some by one of the swampy fields here near my home but not much. It was all quiet when we were out walking but the sounds started as soon as we came home. I think I heard the motor of my neighbors latest car and I also heard a tractor or two.
Our airforce have been out flying a lot above us lately, I guess they’ve gotten lots of more money now when the Russians behave like they do. Back in the days if a child didn’t behave as its parents wanted they always were threatened with ” You better behave or the Russians will come and get You”, I have a feeling that might make a comeback 🙂
Did You know that Sweden once upon a time actually was a super power here in Europe? The Baltic Sea was actually more or less completely inside the Swedish territories. Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, northern Poland and northern Germany was actually all Swedish at the same time for a while. It didn’t last very long though and eventually the Russians took Finland from us. Later on we got Norway, much to their surprise since they actually was on their way to break free from Denmark.
We “got” Norway since we had helped to bring down Napoleon, Denmark was on Napoleons side and Copenhagen was heavily bombed bt the Britain navy because of the fear that Napoleon would use their ships against Great Britain. Norway was allowed to have their own constitution and allowed to have their own official language, something they hadn’t been allowed to under Danish rule. The united kingdom of Sweden-Norway lasted almost 100 years but the Norwegians wanted to be independent which I fully understand and broke free. Thankfully we had a king, Oscar the second, who understood that a war never would solve anything so he did let them go peacefully. Besides, we had tried to take Norway by war before and never managed to do so, “we” even killed our own king (Carl the twelfth) to stop one of those useless wars.
It is time for a pot of tea and after that I’ll do the laundry.
Have a great day!
I have to say that they day mostly has flown away, even if it is a Tuesday. I normally feel that Tuesdays never pass and sort of drain the force of life out of me 🙂 Only the last hour was like that so I must say it has been a good day.
