The bog ladies had had a chilly and wet night so I can understand that they had had many fires burning during the night 🙂
It is actually quite nice outside even if the sun isn’t shining and the occasional rain drop falls down. It is slightly above 10C (50F) at the moment and the little wind that’s there is just nice. I wouldn’t mind if the cracks in the clouds were a bit bigger but we can’t get it all, can we 🙂
I had hoped that I would be able to mow the lawn today, not because I like it but it is soon a bit too long but it is still so wet that my mower just would clog up totally. Most of the Wood anemones have buds now, I have a few different ones like the Yellow one but also a few different of the white one. Soon I’ll see white, blue, green and white with a blue eye flowering in my woodland.
I have a few plants in my cool cellar and I’m thinking of bringing them up so I can turn off the greenhouse lamp down there, it eats energy but is great for the plants. The problem is that if we get a setback how well can I cover them, they already have leafs. I’ll place them on the patio close to the cottage wall and that usually keep the frost away. The sunshine however, if we get some that is, is the biggest problem. Just like us plants need to adjust to it so they don’t get burned.
Tomorrow will be cold and rainy they say so perhaps I should wait with picking up those plants. This is the time of year when weather can change within minutes, one minute it’s sunny and warm and the next snow can fall.
It is time to have a pot of tea and after that we’ll take another walk.
Have a great day!
Today has been much less eventful than yesterday, thankfully 🙂 I have done a lot anyway though. I left work an hour early because today is the last day we’re allowed to have winter tires on our cars, the studded ones that is. I went to the garage earlier this week so they could check the summer tires for me. One was about to split so a new tire had to be bought and two other leaked a bit too much air at the end of last summer.
They could of course not find any air leak, which doesn’t surprise me because those things never show when one is at the garage, they just start leaking like crazy as soon as one has left 🙂 So we placed an inner tube in one of them and now we’ll see if the other one keeps on leaking. I have to go there anyway rather soon because it turns out that that the brake pads on the front wheels are no more. That garage is a very nice place in that way that all costumers who are there always talk with each other and many people just check in to have a chat with the owner and anyone in there 🙂
I also drove to Falköping to do my weekly grocery shopping but I really didn’t need anything so it was a cheap visit this time 🙂 Earlier this week has ´been so nice, almost presummer (one of our in between seasons) warm, today however has been more like a late autumn day. Cold winds, cloudy and some raining. I really looked forward to take a walk in the quiet forest but that never happened.
Yes we did take a walk but it wasn’t quiet at all, they are working with the road, not outside our cottages where they should have started but way in to the forest. More forest will be cut down so they need to make the roads so good that heavy timber lorries can drive there. It is the road that follows the creek upstream. I don’t like it at the moment but since all grass will be gone the risk of getting ticks will be much smaller so we will be able to walk there even during summer. Nothing bad that doesn’t bring something good with it. They’ll fix the road outside our cottages as soon as they have finished the work in the forest.
It is time to make a pot of tea, I’m so tired today (as all seemed to be at work today) so I doubt that any amount of tea or coffee can keep me awake during the night 🙂
Have a great day!
I got rather surprised when I found a letter from my telephone company where they thank me for chosing them when I wanted a business subscriptions for my business. I don’t own a business so I called them immediately and stopped it. It turns out that it isn’t my telephone company that has done this but a business partner. He said that it was some kind of discount offer that I had subscribed to. In the thank You letter I also got a e-mail address to the contact person.
So after calling the telephone company I also wrote an e-mail to the contact person, demanding some answers like if there was a new phone number added and I also wrote that I will contact the police because I haven’t done this and how could they do anything if they didn’t know who they were talking to? I don’t think this has anything to do with identity theft since the letter came home to me, so I easily could call and stop it.
There is however one more person in this county with my name and they might have called that person but then, why had that person not reacted when my social security number was mentioned? It is unfortunately very easy to get our social security number because we need it to almost everything here, even when we are subscribing to a news paper. So even if I think everything is ok I still will go to the police because they just can’t do something like this. Guess if I got stressed when I read that letter 🙂
It is time to get something to eat, I always get hungry when I get stressed like this.
Have a great day!
We had such wonderful weather on Monday and Tuesday that it just was impossible to stay indoors for any longer time. Today isn’t that bad either but it is cloudy and has been for most of the day.
Still, birds are singing and farmers are plowing their fields, they have also put manure everywhere so it smells rather bad in some places 🙂 Most of it is now plowed down though, they all want to finish the job before the rain starts falling, something the predictions still debate over when that actually is happening 🙂
It is time to get something to eat, all the animals have already gotten their food but Nova decided to not have hers this evening. She does like that sometimes and I have no idea why. I guess she’s hoping I’ll drop something of what I’m having but I’ll be extra careful today 🙂
Have a great day!
I have to admit that I have very little to write about again. Nothing much has happened at work and here at home very little happens at all 🙂 I do get a little daylight when I come home from work though and it isn’t many days left until the sun stays up long enough so I still can see it here at home when I come home after work.
The days are sunny and fairly warm now and the nights are clear and fairly cold, perfect springwinter weather. Too bad I have to work when the weather is so nice. They say however that we will get that kind of weather during the weekend too and I do hope the mornings will be just as foggy as they have been all week. I have my small Kodak with me in the car every morning so with a bit of luck they’ll be good enough to show here when the film is developed.
The fire is burning in the stove and I’ll make some cocoa and a few cheese sandwiches. My favorite cheese for the moment is a dutch? one called Maasdamer. Not strong but full of flavors and it goes with anything, especially ham. Too bad I don’t have any ham at home 🙂 I do however have sliced pineapple preserved in its own juice so I’ll have that afterwards.
Have a great day!
Today have been just as exiting as watching paint dry but I did manage to get some photos on our walk after work! I did have to brighten them up a bit, except for the two last ones so You could see how dark it really was.
Nothing much has happened news-wise so I’m following the American primaries as much as I can. Both sides are very interesting to be honest but the republican is really! interesting 🙂 I guess You all know that if we could vote for the American president here in Europe there would never be a republican president. Last election (according to a huge survey I can’t remember the name on) around 88% of the European population would have voted for Obama and here in Sweden I think it was over 95%. So even most of our most right wing people would vote for a president from the democratic party.
In most parts of Europe we don’t mix politics and religion and that I think is what most scares us about American politics, right wing politics that is. I think most of us thinks it is nice that You have a faith but that doesn’t mean You have the right to force Your beliefs to control my life. Freedom of religion doesn’t mean the freedom of oppressing people with other believes. My personal thought is that religion should never rule the people of a country because power corrupts and who is to decide what interpretation of the religion is right?
It is time to make something to eat and then I’ll most likely fall asleep in front of the tv.
Have a great day!
I’ve just downloaded lots of film photos so no blog today but I’ll show a few samples of what I’ve taken with the old cameras.
They’ve forgotten to scan one film though but that doesn’t matter as long as they have developed it and put it on the cd so I can watch it when it arrives, most likely tomorrow.
So welcome back tomorrow, who knows I might actually come up with something to write about, today my brain was empty so the photos saved me 🙂
Have a great day!
So a new year begins but I really can’t see any difference. It is a bit warmer than I had expected and we never got any fog as they had predicted, it is more like a slightly thicker haze to be honest. The snow is melting since it is above 0C (32F) but the melting water just freeze when it covers the road, so the road does look as if it is glazed with glass.
It was an adventure to walk in to the village because I think it would have been smarted to wear ice skates than rubber boots 🙂 It looked as if there was a safe piece to walk on in the middle of the road but there wasn’t. The gravel was just as slippery there as it was elsewhere, so I mostly walked in the ditches all the way round 🙂 It was so much better when I walked out to the fields instead where only a few tractors had been driving and the snow just melted without freezing to ice again.
I’ve looked almost everywhere but I just can’t find my crampons. Today it feels like I should wear the kinds they have while climbing on icy mountains 🙂 Perhaps it would be worth buying those kinds, I would look very odd walking around in those but I would know for certainty that I never would slip on any icy ground 🙂 They would last for a very long time too so I guess the high price would in the long run be a very low one instead 🙂
I tried to stay awake until the new year would arrive yesterday but being a very early morning person made that almost impossible, so I gave up around 11pm and I think I haven’t slept this well in a very long time. Not a single firework was used in the village but I did hear quite a lot from a distance around 10 pm yesterday. Perhaps they were celebrating the new year in each and every time zone in the world?
It is time to take another walk again before it gets dark, today is around 1,5 minutes longer than yesterday 🙂
Have a great day!
If I had believed in omens this would be a good day to think the weather we’re having today would be a sign of how it will be next year. The sun is shining and it is rather warm outside despite the fact that it actually is below 0C (32F). At least where the ever lasting wind doesn’t reach us 🙂 Perhaps it is the wrong day to see the coming weather though? They predict fog for the entire day tomorrow and even though I like fog I really don’t want it most parts of the year 🙂 I’m quite glad I don’t believe in omens 🙂
I got four rolls of film back yesterday, that I have had developed in another place than before. This one is placed in my old home town, actually in my old neighborhood 🙂 I’ll show You photos from those rolls today and the coming days. The photos You’ll see first comes from the old Zeiss Ikonta 531 and the Rolleicord. Perhaps I should open up a new page here showing what cameras I have? Then You could just open it up and see what the camera looks like and I can have some kind of description of how it works and what kind of film it must have. I’ll think about it.
Today I didn’t bring any digital camera with me, only the Zeiss one (that You’ll see photos from today). I have so many photos I can show now that I most likely won’t show especially many of those I would have taken today anyway. The sky had all kinds of different orange, pink and red colors this morning and the wind hadn’t started to blow yet so it was quite nice to be outside walking. Birds were singing but I couldn’t see a single deer or hog. We did however scare a Black Grouse hen and they sound so much while flying away that she scared us too 🙂
They told us that the entire country would be able to see the northern lights last night if the sky was clear so naturally almost 99% of the country had a cloudy sky 🙂 This happens every time we have a chance to see it down here in southern Sweden. They say we might have the chance again tonight so I guess we’ll have a cloudy sky again 🙂 It has actually already started to fly in clouds over us, thin ones who let the sunshine through but still. They are thick enough to not let us see any northern lights I’m afraid.
I better stop here because Nova wants to go outside again 🙂 I’ll bring one of the old cameras again I think 🙂
