The day has been and still is rather cold and windy but the sun has shined almost all day so it has been bearable but not more.It seems to have been raining quite a lot during the night but nothing can really be seen in the creeks and there are no puddles around that would be great mosquito nurseries either. My water barrels however are full again.
It even got so cold and with high humidity yesterday that I turned on a radiator in the livingroom and I did close all windows too. If the wind calms down I can turn off the radiator again tomorrow and open up the windows too I think because they have changed the predictions to much nicer weather than they did just a day ago. We’ll get sunshine again and the temperature will rise to the high 16C (60,8F). It does look like all my plants survived the frost night the other day and without damages too 🙂
I’m so tired today but I don’t know why, usually this cold weather does the opposite to me. I fell asleep in front of the tv as soon as we had come home from our walk 🙂 If it hadn’t been for the flies annoying me I would most likely have been asleep yet 🙂 I guess it could be because Nova has kept on waking me up at 4am every morning this week. I would most likely have woken up shortly after that time anyway but it is something else to be woken up with the help from someone else. Today however she didn’t, this time it was the alarm and that felt even worse 🙂
It is time for another pot of tea and after that perhaps another walk, the weather isn’t inviting so it all depends on whether the dogs get impatient or not 🙂
Have a great day!
We didn’t have frost or fog this morning, they finally got it right with the weather prediction 🙂 It was so nice to not have to scrape the car windows and to actually be able to see the road I was driving on 🙂 The big road (the one You could see photos from here in an earlier post) was almost totally empty and the car behaved as it should, I got this feeling of harmony and the feeling of that nothing can go wrong, so I was thinking that I could just go on driving until I had no more petrol in my car and then just keep going until the ocean would stop me.
But I knew that those feelings soon would disappear when I came to a cross-road some miles away and then it would all go back to normal anyway. So I turned where I was supposed to and drove to work. It wasn’t too bad to work either to be honest and the day passed rather quickly. I’ll be working in the neighbor factory tomorrow and on Thursday so those days will pass fast too even if I’ll be painting really big things that weighs around 500kg ( over 1100 pounds) hanging in the air and really heavy to move even if I have the right equipment.
This was what I could think of writing today, my mind is quite blank and I think I need more vanilla yoghurt with sliced apples and cinnamon 🙂
Have a great day!
I thought last night would be rather cough free and it started out that way. I think I slept almost three hours without coughing but then it started. It was a horrible night and I really hope this was the turning point because I don’t think I’ll survive another night like that. I fell asleep in front of the tv now this morning, I slept for almost an hour without coughing but I couldn’t feel my right arm when I woke up, it took almost half an hour to get the circulation in the arm going again 🙂 🙂 🙂
We had frost here in the early morning but I thought it would be much worse than it was because the temperature fell rather quickly already last evening. I did find my winter jacket though because it did feel way to cold to just wear a fleece jacket. I do hope I won’t have to wear it for quite some time more, even if it was really warm and nice. I don’t feel that I’m ready for cold winter days yet.
It was rather nice outside but the cold dry air did make me cough some more so there was no chance of seeing any wild hogs today, they could hear me from miles away 🙂 In fact I was the only thing that could be heard at all this morning, no cars, birds or other animals made a sound, I guess the cold air made most animals to just sit still trying to stay warm until the sun would reach them. It wasn’t until we had arrived here at home that I could hear a few flocks of geese flying south.
Today I’ll do very little, I’ll rest and that’s it. Ok I’ll take a few walks with the dogs but that’s just relaxing. I won’t talk much because I really have no voice left today and it just hurts too much anyway. I will also make myself some waffles, too long since I had that 🙂
Have a great day!
We have thunder clouds hanging around today again but still no thunder. It was a pretty nice day before they arrived, lots of sunshine and rather warm but now it’s mostly cloudy and rather chilly. It’s just beneath 13C (55,4F) and the air has the feeling of a just passed thunderstorm but no thunderstorm has passed, very odd!
I still haven’t been able to see any of the photos I mailed to be developed last week and that’s a bit odd too. They are usually very fast in developing the films, so now I’m starting to wonder if something has happened to the film rolls. I’ll mail them if nothing turns up later today. I really would like to get these rolls developed because I have plenty of photos taken outside this village and I would like to see if I managed to stop the light leaks in the old Rolleicord.
I couldn’t wait any more so I called them 🙂 They have a prolonged period at the moment so I will get my photos some time next week. I told them that as long as I know the rolls are there I’ll be very patient and I also told them that I thought they did a fantastic job and that I liked their service a lot. It’s never wrong to tell people that one think they are doing a very good job, that happens too seldom in my opinion.
The sun is back again and so is the higher temperatures so I opened the kitchen door so that Nova can sleep on the stairs again and Sune on the ground just outside. We’re all just waiting for the time I’m starting preparing our food. They’ll have their usual and I’ll have some sausages and hotdog breads. The dogs will have some sausages too of course 🙂
We” I better stop here and start with our food, I haven’t eaten anything proper since 5am so it is about time I had something to stop from feeling hungry 🙂
Have a great day!
I can hear thunder, it isn’t especially close yet according to the real time lightning map site and it looks like it will pass south to us but one never knows with thunder. I’m not surprised it has come, today is warm and humid and it did rain some earlier today. Also, the few flies still around are behaving insanely right now, they were so bad that I refused to take a walk when I came home after work.
The sky has that ominous led grey color nad there is that smell in the air that only hangs around when thunder is near. I don’t mind a good thunderstorm as long as nothing explodes here in my cottage as it did last summer 🙂 Still I was lucky, it was just the light ramp to the aquarium. My neighbor on the other side of the field lost the entire electrical cabinet, it blew up and the residues of it melted 🙂
I better stop for today, I need to see if any cords needs to be unplugged before it might arrive. I can see that it is closing in and it is moving relatively fast too. Bertil and Teodor are chasing each other in the apple tree right now so for now there’s no risk of lightning here, I think 🙂
Have a great day!
I worked in the neighbor factory today and that was just perfect since I don’t have any energy to do anything 🙂 I went to bed already at 9 pm yesterday to the sound of a light rain and woke up a few minutes before the alarm started, only because Nova decided it was a good time to be scratched on the belly 🙂 🙂 It was a good reason to be honest 🙂 It continued to rain during the day but now the sun shines and the humidity is so high it feels like walking in a sauna.
I bought a bag of tea and a bottle with green soap the other week, I know I brought it in to the kitchen but after that it has been gone 🙂 So yesterday I thought that if I bought the same thing again the old ones would turn up, they always do. So I did that and the first things I found when I came home was the tea and green soap 🙂 I know that the soap didn’t stand on the kitchen sink when I left home in the morning but it did when I came home. I’m pretty sure it’s the small ones that played a trick with me, there’s no other explanation 🙂 🙂
The first film rolls are now developed so that’s what You can see here today, it’s from the Hasselblad camera. I like it how they make it possible to down load the photos before they send them home to me. Of course these photos aren’t the highest quality but good enough to show and I have edited them slightly. The film rolls I used this time was called Lomography and that thought it was some kind of brand but it turns out that it is a kind of photography genre. It all started with old Russian cameras camera called Lomo. It’s made totally in plastic, even the lens. The cameras also let in light and some people liked the style of those photos and a new genre was born.
Some of my photos have an odd blue sort of foggish surface and I guess that can have to do with the fact that the film might not have too high quality 🙂 I can see that it mostly has happened on photos when it was fairly dark while I took the photo. Never mind, I’m just taking these photos because I enjoy it, not because I live on taking and selling photos 🙂 🙂 🙂 Otherwise they turned out quite well. I’m still waiting for the two other rolls, at least one is from the Minolta XGM and the other one might be from the Edixa (the roll from that camera can be the one I have in my fridge though 🙂 ).
It is time to make something to eat and I think I’ll have cocoa today even if it is warm.
Have a great day!
I had hoped I would be able to do a lot of things while being on a blog vacation but the weather hasn’t allowed any outside work and I didn’t receive the phone call I wanted either, I need new rims to my car so I don’t have to get the summer tires taken off so the winter tires can be put on. It is so much easier to have separate rims to them. I still hope for that call (from my work friend who has those rims and will help me to put on my summer tires on them) though because I don’t start working again until Monday.
It has been raining a lot here and thunder has been close even if it hasn’t been above my cottage. they believe that we’ll have much the same weather through August and that September might be warmer. Statistically it should be like that they say but I’m not sure statistics works any longer, the climate change sort of put all the old statistic in the garbage bin. Well I can’t say that I haven’t gotten enough rest this summer 🙂 It is more or less the only thing I’ve been doing 🙂
We didn’t take any morning walk today, I was in no mood of walking in clouds of flies even if most of the biting ones are gone by now I still don’t like the others either 🙂 I do wear my mosquito hat most of the time while being out on walks but I’m still rather tired of them now. The dogs didn’t seem to mind that we didn’t take any walk either, the kitchen door is open all day so they can always go out into the garden whenever they like to.
My neighbor the farmer believes that I might have a badger’s set in my garden 🙂 I have seen the paths it has made here and it has tried to dig a hole just beside my patio but gave up that idea rather quickly. I guess three dogs is a bit too much to have that close even if they wouldn’t harm it in any way 🙂 I do have a lot of bushes covering those places it might choose as a new home so it is hard to see if it has dug a hole elsewhere in the garden. I’ll know better when winter comes.
I wouldn’t mind if it did chose my garden as a home as long as it doesn’t try to dig down beneath the cottage. So if I find that is has dug a hole in an appropriate place I’ll leave it alone, I’m pretty sure we’ll get along nicely as long as I can teach the dogs not to try to play with it 🙂 Orvar tried that once and I can say the badger wasn’t happy at all 🙂 It didn’t try to hurt Orvar because all it wanted to do was to get away from that crazy dog 🙂 I’ll let You know if I find anything.
We think that my neighbor the Bee keeper’s bee hives will survive. The queens haven’t come back as far as I know but he thought he could see that new queens were growing so he moved some of those cells to the second bee hive. There will however be no honey produced this year, they barely have enough to survive a mild winter to be honest. He will of course give them food during the winter so they aren’t dependent on what they can scrape together thankfully. Still, I don’t think we’ve had such a good berry summer for ages. I’ll get more blueberries on one bush than I’ve gotten in total all three years I’ve had blueberry bushes in my garden 🙂
It is time to make a pot of tea and after that a nap I think. I’m hoping that they today have developed the four film rolls I mailed last Friday but it is vacation time so it might take some time more.
Have a great day!
I woke up a bit later than usual so the sun was already shining when we came out for our walk. It was only 5C (41F) and we could see our breaths when we were breathing. There was one big cloud in the sky and naturally it had to move so the sun got covered just as we were starting our walk. I got really angry to be honest 🙂 One cloud and it had to cover the sun when it for once actually shone 🙂 Normally I can’t hear any man-made sound that early but the first thing I heard, to my big surprise, was someone playing music really loud and the sounds echoed over the village.
I have no idea if it started just as I opened my door but I guess it woke up any neighbor living close and the sound suddenly stopped in the middle of the second song 🙂 I guess I’ll be hearing about this during the week 🙂 We walked down the road we usually do early mornings, I wanted to photograph spider webs but I could find very few since the high grass the spiders love now is either eaten or trampled by the cattle walking in that pasture. But what I found was a bit better and it happened just as the sun started to show again, I saw a dew covered dragonfly (or Troll spindle as the Swedish name is) and just beside it was a spider.
I was wondering if the spider would try to get the dragonfly or if the dragonfly would try to take the spider as soon as it had dries up. I think the spider is too small to take a big dragonfly though and I’m not sure if dragonflies eat spiders, they eat insects but I’m not sure if they eat arachnids. We continued out to the bog and I think it must have been even chillier out there. I didn’t mind though because the air was totally fly free 🙂 We saw a tiny fox from a big distance but it was too quick to run away before I managed to focus the camera.
I had planned to go to the grocery store in the village where I work, I like that place and I really didn’t feel like going to the super market today but I changed my mind, I wanted to see what kind of hedge shears and grass trimmers they had. I prefer to buy Bosch when it comes to electric machines and they had the trimmers of that brand but not the hedge shears. So I need to find a place that sell Bosh hedge shears because I don’t want any other brand. I could of course by a petrol driven one, they don’t cost especially much more but to be honest, I would only use it every five years so I doubt it would be worth it. Petrol driven machines needs to be used otherwise they quickly give up. Electric machines usually don’t have that problem.
The weather will be rather nice today, sunny and up to 19C (66,2F). Tomorrow will be quite the opposite so I better enjoy this weather when it’s here. First however I need a pot of tea and something to eat, after that we might as well take another walk and perhaps I’ll bring one of the old cameras with me 🙂
Have a great day!
I woke up at 4 this morning and it was impossible to go back to sleep again, it had been very warm all night even if I had had the windows open all the time. So instead of lying there waiting for better times we went out on our morning walk. The dogs liked it a lot even if they looked a bit confused to be forced outside at that hour 🙂 I did wear a fleece jacket even it it wasn’t necessary, not even the mosquitos were especially interested in us 🙂
There were no cows in the pasture this morning and I had problems finding any wild animals too. I did see a fox from a big distance but that’s it. Some deer jumped away in the forest when they heard us coming and I heard some cranes flying to a field nearby and of course the sounds of thousands small birds singing in the trees telling all other birds that this was their territory and all other birds would do best by staying away 🙂 It was thankfully too early for any man-made sounds though and I still haven’t heard any tractors or four wheelers driving around in the village.
We’ll have another warm and nice day here even though, according to predictions, the clouds have arrived a bit too early. It’s the thin kind of clouds still, the thick and boring ones won’t arrive until the afternoon and the rain won’t start falling until the evening. There’s a weak wind blowing so today will be a good day to mow the lawn. it won’t be so hot that I’ll boil inside while mowing and the wind will keep most annoying flies away. As soon as the warm weather arrived so did the wasps, I’ve seen more of them this week than I did the entire last summer and Sune managed to walk on one yesterday and got stung in the paw. No big swelling though so I guess the wasp had very little chance to actually push in any poison.
Besides the mowing I won’t do much today. I’ll repot the last plants that needs repotting and I might make myself a pie, if I do I’ll try the combination nectarines/ Aronia berries 🙂 I still have plenty of those Aronia berries and I just don’t like to throw them away. I will also take a long nap, I can already feel that going up at 4 am is a bit early even for me 🙂
Have a great day!
I can’t say that I’ve had a good night, every time I tried to swallow it hurt so bad that I woke up. I also needed to go to the bathroom a lot because I drank a lot of hot tea and rose-hip soup, it was the best think to make my throat feel a bit less bad. That part I could have thought of before I drank all that 🙂 My throat is still very sour but better than it was last night, now I have a head ache instead so I think I safely can say that the cold has found me 🙂 Still no fever though! Well it will come later on I think 🙂
I had hoped for some frost this morning because the night was clear and rather cold but it was warm and very windy when we woke up and now it rains. No heavy showers but enough to make me want to stay indoors, even the dogs rather stay here in the cottage. I must go outside in a while anyway to fill the bird feeders, I’ve just bought 30kg (66,14 pound) of wild bird seeds. Normally I almost only buy sunflower seeds but I’m hoping to see some Gold finches and other birds who don’t like sunflower seeds especially much.
The result of buying wild bird seeds, is that the right way to write it? it sounds like I could use those seeds to sow wild birds 🙂 🙂 🙂 , is that next year will have to pull up lots of hemp plants, they are so illegal to have even if they have been sowed by birds 🙂 I’ll also pour out some deer food later but I’m hoping the rain will calm down some so the pellet’s don’t dissolve to a porridge before the deer arrive. I was planning on checking the light chains outside too but the weather really don’t encourages me to do so 🙂
The laundry is hanging on the patio to dry in the wind but I think the rain might reach it, well I can always see it as an extra rinsing 🙂 It can stay out there for a few days before I need to bring it in to dry properly, at least as long as the wind don’t get stronger or change direction. It comes from the right angle today so most of my garden is wind free.
