We’re having a warm, sunny and nice evening today.

The Blue hour. To be honest, the blue hour is when the sun sets and the darkness comes and this was to be honest taken when the sun was about to rise.

The Blue hour. To be honest, the blue hour is when the sun sets and the darkness comes and this was to be honest taken when the sun was about to rise.

We woke up early as always and went out for a walk, before the sunrise! I can actually already now see the changing to shorter days. Ok, most people won’t since they aren’t up and out walking at 4 am 🙂 But it was a nice morning, wind free and fly free and any fly free morning is a good one 🙂 Ok they are usually calm at that time anyway so I guess it was the sunrise I liked most.

They have now cut even more grass on the fields so it was almost fly free this afternoon too 🙂 The day had been cloudy (except for the early morning) but the clouds went away just when I came home. It is getting warmer now so all sheep were sleeping up at Stone Circle Hill as I call it since it looks like there’s a circle of stones up on the top of that small hill. This week will be really warm and sunny they say but it will turn next week to more unsteady weather with some rain as well. Who is surprised? after al it is next week my vacation starts 🙂

I normally don’t do anything the first week anyway but this year I had planned it a bit different. I was thinking of going to the lumber yard to get most of what I need to fix the roof at the entrance and the rest of what I need to finally get started on that greenhouse of mine 🙂 The predictions are after all long-term predictions so who knows what the weather will be like, after all they seems to have problems predicting even an hour ahead 🙂 I can’t be too lazy this year though, after all four weeks pass faster than the light when it comes to vacations 🙂

It is time for something to eat. It feels like I’ll miss this cold after all but I will keep on putting ginger in my tea just in case and I think I’ll have a cup now too even if I risk staying awake the entire night because of that but I am almost as tired as yesterday and I could have had an entire pot of coffee yesterday evening without having sleeping problems 🙂

This has not been a good day and I’m not meaning the less good weather. I’ve been tired and grumpy and the pain is back in my shoulder. I had to paint lots of those lockers again and even if I used my left arm and hand while painting I still needed to use my right arm when painting the lockers from beneath. I’ll use a heat pad plaster again tonight and hopes it helps.

Last week an idiot (normally I like this guy but last week he was an idiot 🙂 )came to work despite having a nasty cold, he was almost not able to talk and he didn’t only sound miserable, hee looked it too. Naturally he then started to spread the cold at work so today my work friend (the other painter in my department got so sick he had to go home. The fun thing is that he and I always have breaks at the same time and work close together. I do hope my grumpiness isn’t because I’m about to get that cold too, especially since it later this week will reach up to 29C (84,2F). Those colds we get when it is hot tends never to leave us. My throat is a bit sour and my nose is stuffed but nothing worse so far.

We did get some sun now in the afternoon but it has been a cloudy and somewhat rainy day here otherwise. I didn’t mind actually, it didn’t feel that bad going to work when it rained this morning 🙂 So even if I had woken up as early as usual we wouldn’t have taken any morning walk, the rain poured down 🙂

I didn't take many photos on our walk today but here are some more photos of flowers in my garden.

I brought down the tv to the bottom floor yesterday. Orvar comes up sometimes but he doesn’t like walking up the stairs even if I now have anti slipping strips glued to the stairs. So I felt a bit sorry for him, being alone on te bottom floor. So I brought down the tv and after that I tried to put the antenna cable as good as possible so we wouldn’t slip or trip on it when going down. I used see through tape and it looks a bit fun but this is just temporary until I can buy the right things to attach it to the walls and stairs.  I thought of course this would make the old guy happy but oh no 🙂 As soon as we all were in the sitting room he walked out and stayed in the kitchen 🙂 🙂

When Hector died I actually decided I wanted him cremated separately so I could spread the ashes here by the bog or dig it down here in my garden. Usually I never do that but for some reason I made that decision this time (and naturally I must go on doing that from now on 🙂 ). It was supposed to take three weeks to get him home but he didn’t! At first I didn’t say much more that I really hoped they hadn’t lost him but the lob´nger it took the angrier I sounded. Today a vet tried to reach me but I didn’t hear the phone, for some reason we kept on missing each other all day. So finally I said to them that I REALLY hoped this call was about Hector and the poor girl in the phone started to run around to both find the vet and to see if he had arrived 🙂 It turns out the call was about Hector finally arriving to the vet station. I’ll bring him home on Friday.

It looks like it is the Norwegian weather site that once again is right about today’s weather. The Swedish one said sunshine all morning and cloudy for the rest of the day, The Norwegian said cloudy this morning and lots of sunshine for the rest of the day. The morning has been cloudy but the sun is now starting to look through the clouds. You might think that I’m a bit obsessed by weather and yes I might be because I’m Swedish. A survey shows that the only people talking more about the weather than the Swedes are the Chinese 🙂

It has been a nice cool morning though and we walked by the fields and since they have cut the grass in most parts of them there’s very few flies around. You might think I am a bit obsessed by flies too and yes I truly am, that is how one becomes by living by a bog 🙂 I love this place but if I had known how much flies there are here during summer I most likely wouldn’t have moved here 🙂 Now I can’t even think the thought to move, I hope to live here until the day I die (despite all nasty flies 🙂 ).

My neighbor the bee keeper now have two hives! The bees were swarming yesterday and he was lucky to have a box to place them in. He then bought new parts so now he has two hives 🙂 I have to say I am a bit envious but still, I know my limitations and I know that I have enough with the animals living with me as it is but still 🙂 I think they will have to wait until I retire and then I’ll also have chickens 🙂

The only thing I’ll do today is the laundry. I don’t have that much since I’ve washed some things during the week, something I normally don’t do. After all it is only I who lives here so there’s never really much laundry as it is 🙂 Tomorrow starts the last week before my vacation starts 🙂 Four weeks and I’ll save one week to use around christmas. I think this christmas will be the last for a while when it is enough to use five days of vacation and a few compensation hours to get at least two weeks off from work 🙂

I’m waiting for the grass to dry up some so I can start mowing the lawn, I still get soaking wet on my feet if I walk around int it now. It is however a rather wonderful morning, just enough warm to say it is summer bit still cool enough to keep most flies calm. Lots of them are sitting on my wall facing the sun, they need to warm up a bit too before starting the chores of the day 🙂

I didn’t have to worry about Orvar not eating those pills, I have absolutely no idea what they can taste like since they don’t even smell anything but he gulped them down. To say they are chewable is perhaps wrong, he didn’t have the time to chew at all 🙂 The only problem is that the two others believes he’s getting a treat 🙂 So I better find something to give to them too 🙂  I’ll give him these pills tomorrow as well but after that I must give him the last of the old one, I refuse to throw anything away that isn’t bad.

I must by a new hedge trimmer, The hedge has become very high, which I by the way like a lot but it will soon be too big to handle. I like how it makes it impossible for people to see what I’m doing or not doing in my garden 🙂 and I also like how it slows down the eventual wind that reach my home during storms. I don’t like how it is a safe heaven for mosquitoes and flies though 🙂 I was thinking of cutting away most of what is towards the garden but leaving the parts closest to the road and cut down that next spring. Then I still will have some protection during the winter winds. I also need to chop down a lot of the Hungarian lilacs, I like them (the flowers don’t smell that much) but they are just way too big as they are now.

They are good protection for smaller birds though so I won’t thin them out too much. Today however is a do very little day, besides the lawn mowing that is. It will be a fairly nice day with temperatures up to almost 20C (68F). To be honest, I would be happy if the temperature stayed around that temperature all summer long, it is not too hot and not too cold, it is just perfect. I say this Knowing that next week most likely will give us temperatures up to 30C (86F). I know I really can’t complain if that would become true, not after all the whining I’ve done about it being so cold 🙂

I noticed that the buck we just had passed started to follow us from a distance :-) Suddenly he ran across a filed, over the gravel road and stopped in another field. He stood there just watching us while we passed :-)

I really hope they taste something wonderful :-)

DSC_0028

So I went to the pharmacy after work to get Orvar’s medicine and some heat plasters for my shoulder, the heat plasters are supposed to sit on the shoulder for around eight hours so they are easier to use than my electric heat pad. I’ll just put it on tonight when I go to bed and then let it do its miracles during the night. The medicine Orvar takes is a fluid so guess if I got surprised when it turns out the vet had changed it to pills, chewing pills it says. I really hope they taste like liver or something otherwise there’s no chance in hell Orvar will chew anything 🙂 🙂 🙂

But she did write the prescription so I can use it five times! That has never happened before and unfortunately (but really good to be honest) she also wrote down that I should get a huge package each time, they didn’t have that at the pharmacy so instead I got loads of smaller packages instead this time 🙂 There’s now an order on that big package in my name so I’ll bring it home next Friday after work, when my vacation starts 🙂

DSC_0029

DSC_0030

I also went to the pet store since I never came around to fish for any fish to have in my big water barrels. I had planned not to use the aquarium this coming winter but I really need to since I bought six small goldfish. I’ll put it in my cool cellar during winter instead. There’s plenty of light and just enough cool for the fish to have a nice winter. Goldfish are cold water fish and likes a cold winter to calm down, warm water all year round is not especially good for them. Fantails however likes it a bit warmer so I decided not to buy any of those.  So now there’s three in each water barrel and I’m hoping they’ll eat any insect larvae that tries to grow up there.

We now have a new disease spread by tick in this country. I can’t remember the name on it but it behaves much like malaria. The good thing is that one won’t die from it unless the immune system is extremely weak 🙂 It is the small things we must appreciate 🙂 Lots of ticks around this year but it comes and goes in waves. Some weeks none of the dogs have any and other weeks they have plenty on them. Some just walking around but some already drinking their blood. So far I’ve had two that bit me and two just walking around on me. I truly hate those nasty animals!

I’ve learned one important lesson today. If You use Your hands to put on liniment on Your body, it doesn’t matter how much You wash Your hands, there will still be some on Your hands and You will know that if you eat a cracker when the mouth starts to burn 🙂 🙂 🙂 You will also, after a while feel the odd taste from that liniment but it is too late by then 🙂

I got a letter about collection of wasted food yesterday. They will now put up another bin outside my home and I’m supposed to put all the food I won’t eat in it. I don’t have any food left over like that, I plan carefully how much I make and if I should have any food left closing in to be too old I have three dogs that gladly eat it. I can call them and say I don’t want that bin because I don’t have and food I want to throw away but if I do they’ll charge me 520 Swedish kronor ($ 60 US) more every year!

They will empty this empty bin every second week and they will empty the old one every fourth week, they one I usually fill in two weeks 🙂 🙂 🙂 This will cost me 1630 Swedish kronor every year (around $ 181 US). It is always impossible to even try to discuss with these people so I’ll just do as they wish and let them empty this empty bin as often as they wish 🙂 🙂 🙂 If they should start complaining about the empty bin being empty I’ll just buy a loaf of bread and toss it in every now and again, it will be cheaper than paying that extra fee for not having that extra bin 🙂

This is what happens when environmentalists goes haywire, they will now send this garbage truck all over the county so many more times spewing out fumes and carbon dioxide and help the greenhouse effect even more. I’ll get Orvar his medicine tomorrow. I bought the horse version when Hector was still around but that isn’t necessary any longer. So I called the vet station and unfortunately another vet than the one I’ve usually talked to answered my call. I told her why I suddenly wanted the dog version of the medicine and that another vet already had checked my dogs. I thought that was it but oh no 🙂 She had checked the journals and it said nothing about Orvar getting any medicine. I explained to her that it was written on the other dog, who no longer is around and she would be able to find the medicine in his journal.

I then told her that the other vet didn’t think it was necessary to take a lot of blood tests and other tests when she clearly could see that both dogs were fine. I could hear that this vet wasn’t happy about that at all, I guess she really wanted to bring in more money to the vet station 🙂 But I could also hear that since she knew who the other vet was that it was a lost battle for her 🙂 So finally she agreed to write a prescription for the medicine, this only took two days and guess if I’m happy I still have a week left of the old medicine 🙂

Even if it isn’t even close to 20C (68F), the sun and the humidity made it feel pretty warm and the annoying flies thought it was a good opportunity to annoy me on the walk. Still I have to admit that there are fewer flies this year than normal and even more so when it comes to mosquitos, I guess it’s just to chilly for them to hatch now.

We should have sunshine here right now but the fog clouds that covered the mountain earlier this morning has decided to rise and cover the entire sky. Too bad it just didn’t roll down to the valley and up on our side instead, it would have given me a chance to get some really nice fog photos 🙂 But I must admit that the morning si quite nice, warm enough to just wear a fleece sweater but cool enough to keep most annoying flies calm.

Sally doesn’t mind my dogs at all as long as she’s the one that goes to them, she isn’t that happy if the dogs run to her even though she accepts it. Salmiak however isn’t a big fan of them 🙂 He doesn’t run away but arches his back and hisses a lot. So he wasn’t to pleased to see us coming down the road yesterday evening. He could just have walked out into the field but instead he walked down the road and just happened to take the same turns we had to do to be able to get home again.

Finally he accepted that if he wouldn’t go out on the field we would sooner or later close in on him and try to pass him 🙂 So he stopped and waited for us. Orvar who was walking in front of us didn’t realise that Salmiak was there until he had passed him and turned around to see that we followed him 🙂 Salmiak however was very aware of how close Orvar was 🙂 What might have annoyed Salmiak even more was that Bertil was with us 🙂 He played it cool though and just passed without even glancing at Salmiak 🙂

Today I’ll need to do the laundry like I always do on Sundays, I’ll also mow the lawn if the grass dries up as it should be according to the predictions. I’ll just mow the garden today, the outside grass can wait another week to be mowed.

The sun is shining and it feels so strange, today should be cloudy and rainy too, it always is these two days of midsummer 🙂 We will actually have lots of sunshine today according to the Norwegian weather site yr.no (I think You can use that one on the American continent too and it is the most accurate of all weather sites we have here). The Swedish one however show almost no sun until late afternoon so it looks like the Norwegian is the one giving the prediction closer to the truth today.

I wasn’t up especially early today, I watched a movie on channel Six yesterday and it didn’t end until 11pm. I woke up as always around 4 but went back to bed and slept until 7:30. I can’t remember when I slept until then before and not being sick 🙂 The film was Android Apocalypse and was it worth staying up for so long? No not really but I had high hopes for a very long time 🙂 It didn’t matter much that I did sleep for so long since the weather still was rather lousy when we went out for our morning walk.

We have quite a lot of mosquitos now but still rather few but very annoying forest flies. We also have lots of midges, our black flies. They don’t seem to like me especially much but I have been bitten a few times now. It’s worse for the animals though and bad years there are so many midges around that they actually can kill a moose! Thankfully they normally stay close to running water and there’s not a lot of that around my cottage.

I will most likely take a nap or two though 🙂

I’ve never understood why we now days celebrate midsummer, why are we celebrating that we no turn towards darker and colder days again, especially since our summers are as short and usually chilly as they are. But old traditions die hard as we say here 🙂 Back in the days this was a time to celebrate fertility for livestock, fields and humans. Today it’s mostly a time to have fun, eat a lot of food, usually get nasty drunk and there will be a lot of kids born in nine months from now 🙂

This morning lots of people will go outside, no matter what kind of weather we’re having, to collect lots of flowers and birch twigs. Those will later on be used to dress the Midsummer pole. Some of it will also be used to make wreaths to wear on our heads. Around 1 pm people then will start to dance around the pole to songs like “The little frogs”, The priests little crow and other traditional songs sung both now and at Christmas when they all dance around the Yule Spruce. After the dancing most people will return home to start eating.

We Swedes don’t have that much variation when it comes to holiday food. You will always find pickled herring at any holiday table here (we tend to have a smorgasbord on holidays), You’ll also find meatballs, prince sausages, salmon in many variations and a few different salads. Then of course there’s always one seasonal thing too, like ham at Christmas and lots of eggs at Easter 🙂 If You could get a look at our tables You would very quickly see that Swedes eat anything that is pickled, we must have over hundred variations of pickled herring for instance. personally I just can’t eat it so I have prince sausages and meatballs instead 🙂

Sometimes I'm surprised that the Roe deer isn't extinct :-) I had to shout out loud to get this ones attention :-) I didn't want to scare it by just walking by but I'm not even sure it would have noticed us if we had passed it on the road :-)

Can You see what flowers are most dominant now 🙂

Tonight however is one of the most magical nights there is and lots of the beings are out and about. I don’t think our trolls become stone or burst when being hit by sunlight, that would be rather difficult since we actually have sunlight here from time to time and the sun now is up for over 18 hours and our trolls are much like us humans with farms of their own and really can’t cope by just being up while the sun is away during summer. The mountain trolls however is different, big, shrewd and a bit evil as well but they live far from here 🙂

So I wouldn’t be worried if I met a troll while being out walking tonight, I’m not even sure if I would recognise one since they usually keep their tails hidden but I could of course try to see their ears, which are slightly pointy. I would however stay away from many others like fairies, nasty little things that loves to spread diseases and death to especially children. The Lantern Man would have problems luring me out on the bog since it is so bright outside all day now 🙂 For the ones having an Ash tree on their property it might be a good thing to sacrifice something for the tree, like water if the summer is dry or fertilizers now when summer is wet. That’s a good way to keep the Ash tree lady away from the home, she isn’t nice to have around otherwise.

If You are unmarried and wants to know who Your future spouse will be You can get to know that this night. Just go out and pick seven or nine flowers (depending on which tradition one follows) and climb seven or nine fences and (be quiet all the time untill you fall asleep) put those flowers under Your pillow during the night and You will dream about the coming one. While You are out and about at night You might as well collect as much dew as You possibly can since it has healing powers that You might need during our long and dark winters.

One way to collect a lot of dew is to take the wreath You made earlier today, drag it in the wet grass, drie the wreath and save it for that Christmas bath. Put the wreath in the bathtub and then join it for a long nice bath, that will help You staying healthy through the rest of the winter. The midsummer dew could also help when baking or brewing beer 🙂 this was also the night to collect as much medicinal plants as one could, they would be extra potent if picked this coming night.

I would dare to say that today also would be a very good day to plant a Care Tree. A Care Tree is tightly connected to the well-being and fortune to the property one lives at. Different beings can take a home in that tree ( like our gnomes, grumpy old long bearded but very small beings, or Wight’s or guardian spirits) and as long as one doesn’t disturb it, like taking even a single leaf or injure it in any way no harm will come to the home on that property. If, however, one would injure that tree in any way the property and family living there is doomed. I have two Care Trees in my garden, two different Rowans 🙂

I really get a feeling of old times when watching these Edixa photos. I guess both the old camera and to use a film instead of a digital camera brings out that old-time look in the photos.

The Church did try to make this a Christian holiday, that was what they did. They used an old pagan tradition and made it Christian. Here however they failed miserably 🙂 I doubt that anyone who isn’t Christian actually knows that our midsummer also is John the Baptist’s day, to be honest I don’t think many christians know that either 🙂

The rain started falling already yesterday and kept on falling almost all night, it did however keep calm when we went out on our morning walk, very odd 🙂 I had borrowed the pickup truck at work so I would be able to get to work today, I’m glad I don’t get easily seasick because one will be if sitting in that one for too long 🙂 But I got to work so who am I to complain. You might think that I now will complain about the weather and about how cold it is ( I had to start my radiators yesterday because of the cold weather and the high humidity) but not this week. I called the garage rather early in the morning and they told me that it was the sensor on the cam shaft that had more or less broken down and the car was already fixed, they did warn me however that when that one breaks there will most likely be another sensor malfunctioning rather soon but we could always hope for the best 🙂 So there I was at work with my car not far from home ready to be taken home again. They would most likely close early at the garage but that in itself was no problem, I could just go there and pick it up when I wanted to. The key would of course be hidden somewhere only I would knew where it was. I’ll pay the bill next week, so I have no idea what this might have costed 🙂

I work at a place that thankfully always tries to make it easy for us if our cars (or pets or what ever) breaks down so we agreed that I would take the bus from the village where I work, change bus twice, get my car and then go back to work just in time to when the other painter would go home for the day. It sounds easy, doesn’t it 🙂 The first bus only went down to the highway and the next one would come after 25 minutes. That in itself would be no problem if it hadn’t been for what week it is, the week when the weather always is bad 🙂

I stood there by the road, not far from a petrol station waiting for the bus when the wind started to blow really hard and the rain started to pour down and the fun thing is that here’s no shelter against the wrath of the weather. It was too far to go to the petrol station because if the bus would come early I would have no chance to jump in because they don’t stop if no one stands by the bust stop 🙂 The sun started to shine as soon as I jumped in to the bus 🙂 The rest of the trip was rather uneventful though. Another and child came in to the bus and now days we have to wear a seat belt if the bus is equipped with those. A flashing light kept on telling her that she needed to put it on and she got so annoyed that she changed seats to one that didn’t have that flash near the seat 🙂

I must say that very few have such a good place to work as I have and I wouldn’t change to any other place even if I would get a bigger salary. Tomorrow is midsummer’s eve and even though it isn’t a holiday very few work and it is a paid day off from work. It is almost or just as big as christmas but all pagan. All magical and mythical beings will be out and about tomorrow since the night is especially magical. They are of course out and about now too but they will most likely be easiest to see tomorrow if one so wishes. I’ll tell You more about it all tomorrow. Today I’ll start showing photos from both the Hasselblad camera and the Edixa. I bought a tele-photo lens for the Edixa so it was mostly because of that I used that camera. The sun never got any chance to do so because suddenly clouds covered the sky but it was nice anyway. A tiny Bertil in a big world.

My car has been acting a bit odd lately, twice on my way to work and almost always twice on my way home from work it has sort of hawked itself. Nothing much but enough to make me notice it and almost always on the two same places on the road too. As soon as it has done that nothing more has happened. Yesterday it coughed clearly instead and that was totally impossible not to notice but as soon as it had the motor worked smoothly again. This morning was just the same but the coughing  was really bad.

I called my work friend so he could come and tow me away to work. I said let’s try and start it while we’re running, he didn’t think it would work but what did I have to lose? It started directly but sounded as if it was breathing for the last time 🙂 I drove to work and when I had stopped the motor I tried to start it again but it was impossible.

I’ll call them on Thursday to see if they have been able to fix it, Everyone I’ve talked too, including the garage thinks that it’s just a sensor that is malfunctioning but no one say the same sensor 🙂 🙂 🙂 There must be millions of sensors controlling this 🙂 The problem this time is that the garage owner just sold the car we usually can use so I saw myself getting a few more days off  from work but oh no! The work friend that helped me this morning will come and get me tomorrow morning and I will borrow the pickup truck at work to get home in the evening 🙂 I can borrow it over the weekend too as long as they can use it during the working days.

It’s quite nice today, as long as the sun isn’t stopped to shine by any clouds. It has been raining all night so once again the water barrels are filled and even though it only was warm for a few days it’s possible to see how much the plants liked this rain and cooler weather. Not as if we even was remotely close to anything that could be seen as an almost dry period but they still seems to enjoy this.

I don’t have much today because I did wash a few things during the week, I am a bit messy sometimes and I always drop something on my clothes especially if they just have been washed 🙂 I’ll also replant some of the seedlings I have, I could plant them directly in the flower beds but then I must remember to water them every morning because sandy soil dries up as soon as the sun hits. So it is better to have them in pots in the shadows at first so they’ll get a bigger root system and therefore will get an easier start in the flower beds.

There were no cows in the pasture this morning and I had problems finding any wild animals too. I did see a fox from a big distance but that’s it. We’ll have another warm and nice day here even though, according to predictions, the clouds have arrived a bit too early. It’s the thin kind of clouds still, the thick and boring ones won’t arrive until the afternoon and the rain won’t start falling until the evening. There’s a weak wind blowing so today will be a good day to mow the lawn. it won’t be so hot that I’ll boil inside while mowing and the wind will keep most annoying flies away. As soon as the warm weather arrived so did the wasps, I’ve seen more of them this week than I did the entire last summer and Sune managed to walk on one yesterday and got stung in the paw. No big swelling though so I guess the wasp had very little chance to actually push in any poison.

Sometimes plants mutates a bit and look a bit different than they usually do. The forest star normally only have half the amount of petals than this one has. I found several ones looking like this at the same place and they have done so since I moved here so it is a contsant change in the flower.

I won’t complain about the weather today :-)

The temperature took a giant leap upwards today and it didn’t stop until it reached 27C (80,6F) 🙂 It’s always a bit shocking when it jumps up high like that when it has been autumn cold for such a long time. But I must admit I love it 🙂 I think I do because I know that it already tomorrow afternoon will turn towards cooler again 🙂 It is a bit much for old Orvar though, his legs wobbled even more when we were walking in the sunlight but got calmer when we reached the shadows and he could rest some.

He’s fine now though after resting for a long time indoors and his appetite is as good as always. I have to keep an eye on him and his food though because Nova was quite nasty towards him this morning growling until she could steal it from him. Sune isn’t much better but more easily scared if I yell 🙂 They did it again so this time I gave Orvar a treat but not Nova and Sune, missing treats can be a good help when telling dogs that they are very wrong in what they’re doing 🙂

I decided they day was too good to waste on mowing the lawn, so I repotted some plants instead and realised I have loads of seedlings that need new homes, either in the flower beds or in pots until I find a spot for them. Too hot to do anything about those now anyway so I’m thinking of doing tat tomorrow evening since they have predicted some rain tomorrow night. I’ve also managed to take a short nap and it was quite nice but I doubt it will help me staying up tonight 🙂 I’ll most likely fall asleep shortly after 9:30 tonight like always 🙂

The forest flies are back, can’t say I’ve missed them but at least they’re just annoying, not biting. I’ve seen plenty of dragonflies, very many hornets and several butterflies too today. None sat still long enough to get photographed though so You’ll have to trust me on that one 🙂 My tomato plants are doing fine and I have several small tomatoes growing already, photo will come tomorrow. So today has been rather nice so far, especially since I only work till noon on Fridays 🙂

Finally it feels like summer has arrived, today we reached 22C (71,6F) and a weak wind blows and it’s quite nice outside. We woke up at this morning and went out for a walk before we had any breakfast. The cows were quite loud and it sounded as if they were communicating to herds further away. When one group quieted down another answered.

It feels hard to have to go to work after a morning walk like that but I do like to be able to pay my bills so off to work I went 🙂 It has been one of those days  when some parts have flown away and others have felt like time stood absolutely still. I’m having trouble with my right shoulder again so I’ve an appointment at the doctor in Monday two weeks. It’s times like this I’m so glad I’m ambidexter 🙂 Next week is a short working week though. Midsummer is almost as big as Christmas here, perhaps even bigger and I’ll tell You more about it next week. It is an all pagan holiday though even if the church has done its best to make it a Christian one 🙂

The one I placed wrong in the camera so I never got any photos 🙂 was the roll where I had been to the old tomb field, so I’ll have to go there again some other time, preferable when it is foggy, there’s nothing like old graves and fog 🙂 especially if the sun is breaking through too at the same time.

DSC_0020

We woke up at 4:30 this morning and since the sun was on its way up I thought we just as well could take a walk. I have to admit that I got a bit surprised when I saw how cold it was outside -1C (30,2F). The world wasn’t covered in white but the frost did cover lots of plants even though the sun heated up the air rapidly.

We walked down the road towards the fields and later on the creek so we would be as much as possible in the sunshine. The dogs didn’t mind if it was cold but I did 🙂 I brought the camera with me so all photos You see today comes from our morning walk.  I had hoped that I would see the fox that usually walks at the end of that road every morning but I guess we were a bit too early this time.

The day has been even warmer than yesterday and I don’t think we’ve had any wind at all either. So I only wore a t-shirt on our walk this afternoon. I brought the Hasselblad camera with me, there was still five photos to take before I will send the film rolls to get developed. I took some what I think really nice photos but to my surprise there will be no photos from this roll of film, I’ve put it in backwards 🙂 ( The film is covered by paper on the backside so no photos if it is put in the wrong way 🙂 ) I tried to roll it back again so I could start all over but I failed miserably 🙂

if I told You that the day has been just wonderful with lots of sunshine (shining through lots of tiny clouds) and relatively warm too? I talked with my neighbor when we came home from our walk and he sounded really surprised when he said, this is nothing at all like the predictions for today 🙂 I’m not sure why he was surprised though, after all most of us were working today and since when have they come even close to what they have predicted lately 🙂

I guess we’ll have plenty of them if it stays this warm from now on (around 19C (66,2F)) but I’ll take it with a calm mind, I tend to get immune to the itching after a few bites anyway 🙂

I still have some replanting to do and lots of seedlings needs new homes in the flower beds, I was so grumpy yesterday that I took naps most of the day 🙂 several hours actually but I was still tired already around 9 pm so I went to bed and slept until 4:30 this morning. I guess I needed that because I’m not even close to as tired today as I’ve been these latest two weeks when we have been working overtime almost every morning.

He loves it and now when Hector isn’t around any more he get to eat it all himself. Hector was a wonderful dog but a bad food thief 🙂 🙂 I do miss him a lot, my special guy. Until early this morning the predictions said sunny after 2 pm and the rest of the day, now it says cloudy most of the time with rain and perhaps some sunshine after 4 pm but it is rather warm in the winds that keep on getting stronger the longer the days passes by. The winds won’t be nearly as bad as they had predicted though according to the new predictions 🙂 I’ll stay at home anyway so it really doesn’t matter how wrong they all are but it would have been nice to sit on the kitchen stairs with a cup of coffee in my hand. The every now and again showers from the sky stops that though.

We were up and about early today, just after four am and I thought it would be nice to take a walk by the fields and we did that until I realised the castle has cut off the road by connecting two cow pastures again. That would have been no problems if I had walked alone I’ll just keep the cows away while I passed through that part of the pasture but with three dogs afraid of cows and electric fences that’s more or less impossible. Cows have been known to kill dogs if they have calves and dogs passes through, leashed, with their owners. So we had to walk back when we had come half the way.

I have moved out most pots with seedlings this morning and I have replanted most of the tomato plants I had indoors too. I don’t have enough with big pots though, do You remember what I did earlier this spring? I put all the grass turfs I got when I made the vegetable patch bigger in the big pots and the old wheel barrow, covered them with ground carpet so I could use that to the squash and pumpkin plants later on. There is no big pot left after that 🙂 I haven’t checked my potting shed (well it’s actually the old outdoor toilet 🙂 ) I might have one or two bigger pots there that I can use. I could of course, if I’m really lazy, just open up the soil sack and plant the tomato plants I have left straight in to them instead 🙂

I still need to replant a few passion fruit vines that I have here indoors, they’ll be placed outdoors as soon as the summer see it fit to arrive properly, the risk of night frost should be over after tonight though but according to predictions which none of us really believe there’s no risk of that tonight so I might actually do that already today. The potatoes I’ve planted are showing in the vegetable patch now and some broccoli seeds have germinated as well so it is time to sow the broad beans too now. Still no signs of either carrots or red onions though.

Orvar peed the Paradise apple tree to death so now I've planted a clematis beside the dead tree so it can climb it up and cover it. I've also put down pee protection sticks so Orvar and Sune will aim at those instead :-)

Today has been so much nicer than yesterday or any day for over a week to be honest. It has been mostly cloudy but the wind is weaker (still strong though) and it has been warm and nice all day. When I look out my kitchen window there’s not a single cloud in the sky, I wouldn’t be surprised if that means frost during the night.

I must remember to buy soil tomorrow on my way home from work, I need lots for my tomato plants, and all the seedlings I need to put in pots until I know where they should be planted. To be honest, all name tags are gone so I think they need to stay in pots until I actually knows what they are 🙂 I also need to figure out where I want the Sweet flowering quince I already have in pots, I could make space close to the Japanese quince I already have or perhaps dig away lots of grass and weeds closer to the fence at the end of my garden.

Only two more days until we should be safe from frost at nights so the first thing I’ll do on Sunday morning is to bring out all the pots I have here indoors and I’ll place them on the patio so they can get used to the light outside and harden themselves towards the sunlight, I’ve killed many a plant by not protecting them properly towards the first sunlight in their lives.
