Autumn.

Another day has passed.

Yesterday morning it was so dark and foggy that I don’t think I’ve ever experienced a darker morning. I could barely see ant lights from the homes I passed and the headlights on my car seemed to just shine a few yards in front of the car. Normally I would hate that but yesterday I actually liked it a lot ๐Ÿ™‚

Today wasn’t especially bright either but the absence of fog made it much easier to see what was going on beside the roads. One never knows when the animals decide to cross the road so it is nice to at least have a chance to see their glowing eyes if they stand close to the road side.

I mostly worked in the neighbor factory today and I could see plenty of big things for me to paint so I guess I’ll be there quite a lot for a while. Everything worked as it should today and those are the days to remember, it doesn’t happen that often ๐Ÿ™‚ It is always something that doesn’t work as it should or works too good so it is hard to control what it is I’m doing ๐Ÿ™‚ Like last time, I have a table that turns the things I paint from a horizontal lever to a vertical level and the table worked so great it almost tossed away the thing I had on it ๐Ÿ™‚ I really need to get someone to check it out before it breaks down, because things usually do break down when they work too good ๐Ÿ™‚

Well, nothing more to say today. Tomorrow I’ll get new winter tires on my car, I really hope I won’t be needing them this winter because it would be nice to have a warm one again. But the law’s the law so new tires is a must.

Today has not been an especially eventful day, I worked in the neighbor factory and that was as exiting as it got and that’s not exiting at all ๐Ÿ™‚ But the day passed relatively fast so I won’t complain too much.

I was thinking about the big asteroid that passed during Halloween, I missed it of course since it was hard to see on a clear night and since it was cloudy totally impossible to see at all ๐Ÿ™‚ But I was thinking, would they have told us if it had been on a collision course?

att spara 15 (7)

Such a big one, they said it would be like thousand Hiroshima/ Nagasaki bombs hitting at the same time, would most likely be impossible to survive anyway. Just imagine the hight of the tsunami that would be created (if it hit the water which is most likely) the sky would be filled with ash for so many years that we most likely wouldn’t be able to grow anything anyway and the blast wave would most likely wipe out all houses all over the world.

So wouldn’t it be better if we just walked around not knowing? I doubt people would stay calm even if they knew we couldn’t do anything and I wonder if they would loot the stores for tv’s as they always seems to do in movies ๐Ÿ™‚ I guess it would be nice to meet the end at home but I guess the panic would stop all traffic anyway and I guess road rage would be a kind word for what would go on amongst travellers.

Att spara 12 (1)

Well, no asteroid is coming this way at the moment as far as I know and if it did I don’t think I would like to know about it. I don’t think I even would try to photograph it ๐Ÿ™‚

We’re having much the same weather here today as we had yesterday, foggy and cloudy (and perhaps a bit more windy) but the fog could have been better to be honest. As it is now it just make the day even more gloomy. I’ve already fallen asleep in front of the tv twice and we’ve barely passed noon yet.

I’ve filled the bird feeders and it took some time until the birds came to see what they had gotten, sunflower seeds. But a flock with several Bullfinches passed by to eat the seeds from the weeds in my garden, they are kind of picky so they won’t eat anything from my feeders until their favorite seeds are gone.

I just hate those flies!

DSC_0023 (1)

This is a not doing much day, it is grey and somewhat foggy outside but rather warm even if it isn’t even remotely close to what they predicted earlier in the week. At least it isn’t raining even if we actually need quite a lot of rain now, mostย smaller creeks are now totally dry and even the bigger ones show signs of a draught here now. I don’t mind to be honest, I’m hoping this might kill lots of fly larvae who needs wet or moist ground to survive.

Not much of a fog to be honest but it looks like it's getting thicker now.

We went down to the bog and the smaller creek today but I turned around quickly when I suddenly had at least four moose flies crawling around on my arms and hands at the same time. I think I had a few in my hair as well and that is truly a nasty feeling. They don’t die if one hits them either, they just shrug a bit and keeps on crawling around. Their bite is nasty and they spread the same diseases as ticks do. A moose fly looks very much like deer lice and I truly hate them. We really need a really cold night so they all die!

I couldn’t get rid of that feeling some were crawling around in my hair so as soon as I came home I shaved it all off ๐Ÿ™‚ It was time to do so anyway but this helped me to actually do it ๐Ÿ™‚ There were no in my hair though and it still feels like they are there ๐Ÿ™‚ So now I need to find my baseball cap to wear as soon as we walk in to the forest again, there’s no need for one otherwise because it’s so warm still.

It is time to start thinking of a photo to use as christmas card. I have a few old ones that I can use but I still have time to photograph something else if I want to. Traditional christmas cards here usually have red birds, like the Bullfinch, the Yule gnome of course. Pigs are rather common too and sometimes if it shows the nature there’s usually Red toadstools in them too. So the ultimate card should show all of those I think but I doubt I’ll manage to get them all in to one photo ๐Ÿ™‚ Especially the gnome will be tough to get ๐Ÿ™‚

The day has been grey and gloomy and nothing much has happened. I worked in the neighbor factory today and came back just in time to our weekly meeting. A work friend had his 50th birthday not long ago so he brought us something we call sandwich cake. I’ve heard that this is something very Swedish so I don’t know if You know what it is. It should be made a few days ahead to taste as best. The one we had today was delicious and one of the layers in it was filled with liver pate, something we Swedes love and often have on our sandwiches. But it can also be made with for example tuna and shrimps and the more luxurious ones can be made with lobster, nephrops and perhaps crab and shrimps too ๐Ÿ™‚ I ate so much that I’ve decided not to have any dinner but instead make a bowl with vanilla yoghurt, apple slices and cinnamon :-)There’s quite often fruit in it too, today there was pears and peaches in some layers and there’s always lots of mayo ๐Ÿ™‚

No new photos until tomorrow, so all photos today are more or less old.

I went to the vehicle inspection again yesterday so it would be ok to keep on driving for yet another year and all went well but the inspector found that the petrol tank belt they had changed some weeks ago was attached in the wrong way, the guy who did it put in a lot of work to do it right but his brain sort of stopped working just as he placed that belt and did it in the wrong way so it can move and eventually fall off ๐Ÿ™‚

He had even put in an extra security thingymajig but never used it ๐Ÿ™‚ so I drove to the garage and they’ll fix it next Friday. I ordered new winter tires at the same time, winter might come any day now even if the predictions says it won’t the coming ten days but You all know what I think of those predictions ๐Ÿ™‚ All the other work that had been done was ok though so now I don’t have to think about the vehicle inspection for another year ๐Ÿ™‚ They are talking about not having this inspection every year any longer but every second year instead.

On one hand I like that because I get so stressed every time but then again, they do pick away the worst cars from the roads and I always know if I need to fix anything so my car won’t be dangerous to drive and I’m pretty sure they will make it even more expensive to do it when we only have to go every second year. So perhaps already next year I’ll be lucky/ unlucky to not have the inspection, it all depends on how one looks at it.

Lots of refugees are coming to Sweden now, mostly people from Syria but also from the other war hit countries nearby like Afghanistan and Iraq. So many are coming that we now have problems to find any places for them to live. I heard of one place far north called Riksgrรคnsen (something like the border of the kingdom or realm). It is a rather well known place to go skiing downhill but the hotels don’t open up until February so there are plenty of space to stay at right now.

I’ve seen photos and reportage on tv that shows how they live in their home countries so I can fully understand why they go up here to get some money, they really have no hope where they are living.

We even have a lady sitting outside the grocery store in the village where I work. We talk Swedish with her and she answers in her language ๐Ÿ™‚ Many of these beggars are threatened and abused but so far this woman has been treated well. I guess those who hated these people forgot about them now when all the refugees comes, I guess it is hard to spread the hate towards several groups at the same time. Many of these people from southern Europe have realised that people tend to be kinder to them if they instead of begging sell things instead, so now many weave baskets or make other things that they sell to people passing by. I doubt however that this would work as well in such a small village as the one I work in.

But I knew that those feelings soon would disappear when I came to a cross-road some miles away and then it would all go back to normal anyway. So I turned where I was supposed to and drove to work. It wasn’t too bad to work either to be honest and the day passed rather quickly. I’ll be working in the neighbor factory tomorrow and on Thursday so those days will pass fast too even if I’ll be painting really big things that weighs around 500kg ( over 1100 pounds) hanging in the air and really heavy to move even if I have the right equipment.

Every time the fixed one error code in my car a new one turned up. When they thought they finally had fixed the last one they took a run with the car and just as they were turning off the motor a new error code turned up ๐Ÿ™‚ The car is old so they are mainly using used but working parts, otherwise I would most likely cry when I see the bill on Friday when they’ll fix this last thing (knock on wood).

Despite predictions fog turned up last night and naturally we had frost too, I wouldn’t have mind it on a weekend but the ice was as strong as concrete when I tried to scrape the car windows and the fog was so thick that it was hard to see where I was driving. It was even worse than usual since I had left my car at the garage and used their pick up instead, it is like driving a battle ship compared to my own car ๐Ÿ™‚ But I have to say that it has a fantastic heater, it was so warm in the car that even after I had lowered it a lot I still had to drive with one window open ๐Ÿ™‚

I met the land owner of most of the forest here when we were out walking after work. They had decided to destroy the latest dam the beavers had built upstream towards the bog. So they drove a big digger up on the rather soggy roads and got stuck. The reason the road was so soggy was because someone else already had torn down the dam ๐Ÿ™‚ Too bad they didn’t tell the land owner who now have the problem of trying to get the digger back to more solid ground again. I did think someone already had torn down the dam because the water level is quite high in the creek but no rain has fallen in weeks.

The sun has fought a long time now and finally it has done its job on the chilly, wonderful fog we had here all morning. I woke up to a frosty morning as well and I must say I enjoyed it a lot. I do prefer warm summer days but since I can’t stop colder weather from coming here I might as well just enjoy mornings like this ๐Ÿ™‚ I guess I’ll be happy for as long as we don’t get any snow ๐Ÿ™‚

We walked down to the creek but I didn’t hope to see any hogs in the fog, the castles cattle was walking in the fields close to the forest and I’ve noticed that very few wild animals seems to like cattle or tame animals and tend to stay away when those are out in the fields. We were a lot down by the fields beside the creek yesterday too, I had brought my old Hasselblad camera and without noticing it I dropped the light meter. Not the best places to do that I’m afraid.

I had of course not watched how or where I was walking around in that field but I knew I didn’t go especially close to the creek. If Orvar still would have been around this would not have been any problem, he was a master of finding dropped things. Nova and Sune however is rather lousy in doing that ๐Ÿ™‚ Orvar was a natural so I only gave him something to smell and then told him to find it. Nova smelled on the little bag where the light meter used to be in and ran away and Sune tried to chew on it ๐Ÿ™‚

I walked around in that field for an hour and just couldn’t find it. The grass is semi long so anything that sort of slid beneath the grass would be hidden for the rest of the time. So we went home and I found another lightmeter on our eBay (called Tradera) and was quite annoyed that I had been so sloppy and dropped it. We went back there in the afternoon and after a while I started to walk perhaps 5 meters (much the same in yards) closer to the creek ands I found it ๐Ÿ™‚ Pure luck because I was close to kick on it before I finally saw it ๐Ÿ™‚ So I rushed home and went in on Tradera to reduce the size of my bid. Guess if I was glad not to win that light meter ๐Ÿ™‚

They tend to find way too many muslim terrorists though ๐Ÿ™‚ It may look like something else in the beginning but it always turns out that way. At least Hetty is an interesting person in that show ๐Ÿ™‚

Kind of useless fog.

DSC_0021 (6)

We didn’t get any frost last night and the fog we got was sort of a waste to be honest. It was more like a bit thicker haze and only made everything look grey and dull, all colors were dampened. The hunters arrived early too so we couldn’t take a walk in the forest either which annoyed me a bit.

I took a few photos around 7:30 outside my work place this morning. ISO 4000 and still the photos are rather dark.

We woke up to an even colder and foggier morning today, -4,5C (23,9F). It was beautiful but since I didn’t know what the road would be like and that it is impossible to see any animals close or on the road until it might be too late it was anything but fun to drive around in. So I drove rather slowly just in case.

I had to buy a new coffee maker (I make tea in mine most of the time) on my way home. I really wanted a small one just big enough to make two big cups but the problems with these small machines is that designers who make them always seems to think that the most important thing with them is to look cute, if it works pouring out anything without spilling everywhere isn’t that important. My last machine was like that so this time I bought a normal sized one.

They say we’ll have much the same morning tomorrow and perhaps on Saturday too. I do like the fog when I don’t have to work, I’m not that fond of it when I need to drive around in it ๐Ÿ™‚ especially not when we have frost and the roads might be a bit slippery. In my mind, all the way to work, I see how big animals run out in front of my car and even though I do what I can to stop the car I fail and hit the poor animal. Guess if I drive extra carefully mornings like these ๐Ÿ™‚

My car still acts a bit odd now and again so the garage has decided they need to drive around in it because they can see that things doesn’t work as they should when they check with the computer but they can’t see why and it seems that there are several different thing on the car that can cause this problem. So I’ll drive there on Monday morning and take their car to work. I think this is a better solution that to change each and every thing that might be the bad part, with my luck it would be the last part they change that would be the broken one ๐Ÿ™‚

The hunters were out in the forest today again and will most likely be out there the entire week. Most hunters take a week’s vacation when the moose hunting season starts so even if they already might have shot what they are allowed to they have nothing else to do so they’ll most likely go out there anyway ๐Ÿ™‚

We walked in to the village yesterday and I really didn’t want to walk there again, so instead of walking on the road where they had put up signs we walked in the big cow pasture beside it. The problem was that I had no idea if the cows might be in that part of the pasture or not ๐Ÿ™‚ It is not a good ย thing to meet a cow with a calf if one is walking there with dogs.

But I figured that if we would see any cows and calves I would have time to toss the dogs over to the pasture on the other side of the fence, the cows would have no interest in me so I would be able to walk on one side of the fence and the dogs on the other. The cows know very well how the electric fence works so they would understand that the dogs would be no threat to their calves.

Yesterday it happened, I started the first fire in the stove for this season and for once I didn’t get a back draft. Normally I fill the entire cottage with smoke, the fire alarm starts shouting and I open the doors and shout to my neighbor that there’s no fire in my home ๐Ÿ™‚ I guess that could be a good thing if my home had been filled with bed bugs ๐Ÿ™‚ but it isn’t and the smoke smell stays in the walls for weeks. I became even warmer when I was chopping the fire wood though. The handle of one of my old axes had broken and the ax itself was buried deep down into a big piece of fire wood. I couldn’t remove it so I had to get my big sledge-hammer and knock it down bit by bit. Naturally it was a piece of apple tree and there’s nothing as tough to chop as old apple tree. What insane idiot decides that the computer has the right to “make my photos better” when they are downloaded?? Yes I can change that setting but not until I actually knows this is what the computer will do. I got my car tax bill yesterday and that’s a bill to cry over ๐Ÿ™‚ It costs just as much as the latest car repairs ๐Ÿ™‚ They claim the bill is so high because these old cars lets out so much pollutions but to be honest, the vehicle inspections shows that my cars doesn’t let out more than any new car does. Well authorities never really care about reality to be honest, they care more about statistics and make-believe ๐Ÿ™‚

I saw how this heron landed in the creek and hoped to get a photo of it.

Naturally it flew away as soon as it heard us.

Just as it had flown away a second one lifted from the creek.

This week has passed so quickly! I think it has to do with my new working hours even if it only is an hour different but even if it isn’t to fun to get up an hour earlier it sure is fun to go home an hour earlier ๐Ÿ™‚ It will feel like I’m working over time when we’re going back to our normal hours after three weeks ๐Ÿ™‚

Sune did what he could to make me chase him to get that stick from him. He always did that with Orvar :-)

A high pressure has placed itself in northern Sweden/ Finland and it makes the arctic winds fly down towards us but it stops all low pressures from west, so Denmark has had some rainy weather this week. The edge of the low pressure clouds however is just around here and so far it has stopped the frost from hitting us at nights but still let us see the sun during the days ๐Ÿ™‚ That’s my kind of weather but I know it won’t last for ever. They now have snow in the most northern parts of Sweden but I hope it will take a long time until it comes here.

I was thinking about writing something here today but it is totally gone from my mind ๐Ÿ™‚ I think I thought it was interesting but I’m not sure since I can’t remember ๐Ÿ™‚ It is time for something to eat and I think I’ll have a big cup with warm cocoa with it, it is after all autumn now.

We need more maples.

Todays photos are a mix from sunny yesterday and cloudy today.

I’m late again so I’ll make this very short. The car is back and it didn’t cost so much that I wanted to cry. I just whined a little ๐Ÿ™‚ But they had forgotten one thing, a tube of some kind. They found that bad tube when we changed the rubber seal so it wasn’t noted anywhere.

The mountain is full of colors now. Never as colorful as the photos I've seen from the Rocky Mountains though but this isn't too bad either.

We need more exploding red maple leafs!

So I’ll go to the garage after work on Friday and I’ll pay what it all costed when that tube is changed. I wanted to pay today but they insisted and I really didn’t want to argue about when I should pay my bill, at least not when it is they who want me to pay later ๐Ÿ™‚

I still haven’t gotten those four rolls of film developed yet but I hope I’ll get them by Friday as latest. I think and hope I’ll have some nice photos on those rolls.

Yesterdays blog is almost unread.

No blog today because I mowed the second half of my lawn after work and it was even wetter than the first half was and the grass was higher too, so now I have absolutely no energy left to do anything more than to fall asleep in front of the tv ๐Ÿ™‚
