I only woke up once last night and managed to fall asleep again after ten minutes or so. Still I was so tired when the alarm sett off that I almost seriously considered to come late to work ๐Ÿ™‚ Still the day has passed rather quickly and I did feel less tired while I was at work.

It has been mostly cloudy with some rain today and a few seconds of sunshine too. The humidity is as high as it can get, around 99% and will stay like that until tomorrow night. I guess I should be happy about temperatures being rather low because 99% humidity and high temperatures are really nasty, now it will stay close to unpleasant as worst ๐Ÿ™‚

The weather predictions varies faster than the speed of light ๐Ÿ™‚ We might get lots of thunder and rain this weekend but it can also be only light showers and perhaps some sunshine too. I would like to mow the lawn this weekend but I won’t do that if the grass is wet. Too much work to clean out the mower during and after using it on wet grass. I would like to have one of those robot mowers, they are quite popular here but still a bit too expensive for my taste. Now it would work rather well in my garden since the two big hole diggers aren’t around any more. Nova and Sune are content in just eating the leafs of the dandelions and don’t dig up the roots ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great day!

It finally opened up.

My Pink Dandelion! Only half the flower openbed up yesterday (the deep pink part) and only for an hour or so before it closed again. My guess is that what looks more or less white now will be more pink tomorrow. This is a rare dandelion from the Himalayan mountains. I had lots of small plants last spring but Orvar and Hector ate most of them :-) :-) I really couldn't complain since I always gave them the dug up dandelions from my flowerbeds :-)

It is another steam bath day, high humidity and rather warm. There is however a weak wind and it just makes it even worse ๐Ÿ™‚ It is like walking around in a steam bath where they have a fan working ๐Ÿ™‚ The flies are nasty and they are predicting thunder around noon, I do hope they are right this time. We were supposed to have thunder last night but I could just hear it once or twice from a great distance.

I mowed the lawn yesterday, perhaps not the best idea I’ve had in my life ๐Ÿ™‚ I figured that it might be the chance I had because it was supposed to rain during the night and we’ll also have rain several days next week. I divided my garden in to four squares and as soon as I had mowed one square I went inside to drink lots of water and to rest for a while. I have to admit that it was much easier than I thought it would be. The grass was really high but dry so it didn’t fill up the mower around the blades like it always does when the grass is wet. My neighbor took most of what I mow outside the garden, he knew I had that high fever. I have the best neighbors one can get!

Finally there's enough water in the clean creak so that Sune can take a bath again :-) Guess if he was happy, he just stood still in that deep hole for a long time :-)

I had to go to the grocery store in Gudhem this morning, cats don’t like it when their food bowl is empty ๐Ÿ™‚ I also bought some aspirin, I really can’t take any of those medications since they already have destroyed my stomach but aspirin is one of the few I can take a pill once in a while. I have headache after coughing so much and coffee just don’t help any more. I didn’t see what kind they gave me until I came home, this one is supposed to melt in the mouth. They do have problems making the evil characters in the Star Wars films. Darth Vader and the emperor was really good but the young Anakin Skywalker/ Darth Vader was really bad and so was the bad guys in this film too. I think they tried to make then interesting but only managed to make them annoying ๐Ÿ™‚ The hero side however is really good but a good film needs a fantastic evil guy, one we all can hate and who is interesting and not someone we all want to die early in the film just because he’s so annoying, or perhaps pathetic is the right word ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ I do hope they get more evil in the next film ๐Ÿ™‚

It isn’t especially warm but the humidity made it a bit nasty to walk around. The most wonderful morning.

From my mormors old camera, the Gevabox.

I’ve had the most wonderful morning today. I drove quite early to the hospital to get my insoles and was lucky to be the first one there. I don’t think it took more than five minutes to get them adjusted to my two pair of shoes. After that I drove to the marina, the sun was shining and there was a weak but just enough warm breeze to keep me cool. I took several photos but only with old cameras, it would have been too much with my digital too because old cameras weigh lots more than modern ones.

It was when I walked by the water I suddenly started to long for the ocean. The lake is big enough so it behaves like an ocean in most ways but there it doesn’t smell the same, no salty smell with a touch of seaweed and that smell that is so hard to describe. Small fish jumped up in the air so I think pike, walleye and perch might have been out hunting or perhaps even trout. I guess it would have been a good morning to fish so I almost regretted not bringing a fishing rod. We can fish for free in the ocean and the five big lakes here but we do need a fishing license in almost all other waters.

To get even further away from the world we took our morning walk out on the bog. We were actually there already yesterday afternoon because my neighbors had been there and told me it was so dry out there that it was possible to walk around without sinking anywhere. I did hesitate a while because I thought there would be lots of ticks, mosquitos and midges there but then again it is voles and mice who spreads ticks more than other animals and voles would drown if they tried to dig in the ground out there and mice stays mostly on the islands so we avoided to walk there.

I've now used my mormors (grandmother on my mother's side) camera. It is a Gevabox that gives 8 photos on a 120 roll film. I really liked it but I guess I could be a bit biased since it was my mormors camera :-)

I woke up before the sun rose today (which by the way was at 4:05 am) but since it is very bright long before the sun rise we went out on our morning walk. It was almost as chilly as yesterday but a worn down fleece jacket was just enough to keep me warm. Lots of birds flew around but most other animals seemed to rather take it easy a few more minutes. I could hear the ravens argue again and today I know why, crows have moved in on their area. They truly don’t like each other.

Ravens are much bigger and stronger than crows but crows are faster and more agile in the air so it looks like they manage to drive off the ravens and they are not happy about it. I’m pretty sure the ravens will get the place back because they often hang out in groups of several generations and as soon as the older ones can leave their nests the crows will be history. Nice to see them here for a while though, I like our crows.

It is our National day today but very few know why we celebrate it, to be honest we haven’t had a national day for especially long, today used to be the Swedish Flag Day. What we are celebrating is that on June sixth 1523 Gustav Vasa became our king. He was a tyrant that happily slaughtered the ones that had helped him to power, he also was the one making sure the first son of the ruling king would be the king to come. He had three (official) sons who all were more or less insane and all became king of this country. The oldest one for instance Eric 14, married his concubine and he was later imprisoned by his brothers and poisoned with arsenic put in his pea soup. His wife and children were moved to Finland but alive and not allowed to everย claim the crown.

We have the biggest colony of Black-headed gull (we call them laughing gulls) in Scandinavia up in the lake. They have been coming here a lot lately and they do like to argue with the Jackdaws.

The second reason is that we in 1809 got a new constitution which gave the king less power and the parliament more. The first reason is just stupid to celebrate since he was anything but a pleasant ruler but the second is a good reason but nothing we go out and celebrates on the streets ๐Ÿ™‚ They are trying to make this day to something big. like in Norway or the USA but most of us just enjoy the weather if it is nice ๐Ÿ™‚ The ones truly celebrating this day are either the extreme rightย or immigrants, an odd combination ๐Ÿ™‚

I really hate to complain when we actually get warm summer weather as we have so far but it was just too warm yesterday, we Swedes aren’t used to have temperatures up to 31C (87,8F). Normally our summers are cool and rainy, so the weather we just had was a dream come true for us ๐Ÿ™‚ I think I would have liked it better if I hadn’t been working beside a huge oven and a huge washing machine that pours out steam that fills the entire place where I work ๐Ÿ™‚

One weather site says we might get a few drops of rain another says we won’t. I don’t long for rain because it is now so dry in the ground that the lawn doesn’t grow and that I like ๐Ÿ™‚ Also, all puddles and most small creeks are now bone dry so that means fewer mosquitos and hopefully fewer biting flies too ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m not sure farmers like it this dry though but at the moment I really don’t care ๐Ÿ™‚

According to the weather sites it is raining here right now but as far as I can see through the windows it doesn’t. Showers are of course always hard to predict, it might in fact rain on the other side of my cottage without me knowing it. It is a fairly warm morning with a brisk breeze and high humidity and it could have been rather nice if the humidity had been lower. The more the day passes by the better the weather will be and the lower humidity will be as well.

We walked down to the creek this morning and there was this rather big raptor up in the sky, normally they never come especially close but I was lucky today. Of course I saw lots of small birds but they didn’t come close enough so I at least could try to identify them. I’m now taking the chance or risk that we won’t get any more frosty nights here so I am placing all the remaining potted plants I have in the cottage in the patio instead. We don’t have any sunshine but it is fairly warm and low humidity makes it feel even better. The weak wind just makes it more pleasant so I really can’t complain today. I saw that my tomato plants have tiny tomatoes growing on them now ๐Ÿ™‚ I still have those plants in too small pots but I don’t have enough soil at home to replant them, I better remember that tomorrow on my way home from work. I must also remember to buy sticky fly papers, yes it is the season of those little beauties ๐Ÿ™‚ The forest flies are already here to annoy me but still not that many that I feel the need to bring my mosquito hat. Lots of butterflies, bumblebees and the first big dragonfly or as we call them Troll Spindles. No hornets yet though, I do like those friendly giants.

I doubt that I’ll write anything tomorrow if it gets as hot as they predict, my brain will be fried and I’ll most likely be dehydrated no matter how much water I drink at work tomorrow. It’ll cool down a degree or so by Tuesday though so if You don’t see anything here tomorrow You’ll most likely find something on Tuesday.

High humidity, cloudy sky and warmish isn’t that nice to be walking in to be honest, it is the high humidity that sort of dampens the joy of being out walking. The weak wind there is doesn’t help much but the humidity has already sunken quite dramatically so it does feel better when sitting here in the kitchen with the door open. The clouds are thick but every now and again there’s a tiny rip in them allowing the sunshine to hit the ground for a few seconds at a time.

No rain is predicted for today so the grass might get a chance to dry up and I a chance to mow it. They predict some sunshine for tomorrow though so I guess I’ll get the chance then if I can’t do it today. To be honest, the predictions change just as much as always so it might end up with a hurricane instead ๐Ÿ™‚ I won’t complain too much as long as we don’t get frosty nights, I’ve started to bring plants outside for the summer so frosty nights are a no-no from now on.

We walked in some high and wet grass this morning and that is tick paradise. I picked over twenty crawling ticks from both dogs and a few that already was sitting there drinking blood. Nast creatures and they aren’t even especially popular amongst animals as food. Most birds avoid them so it seems they are here on this planet top spread diseases and death. I guess that’s important for nature too, there would be too many animals around otherwise but I still can’t pretend to think ticks are something we really need ๐Ÿ™‚

There is something special with early summer rain, it sort of brings out all the smells and scents there is and make the day better even if it is grey and dull. We’ve had that kind of rain today and it was so nice to be out walking after work even if it rained quite a lot in the beginning. The birds loved it because they sang even higher than usual. The sheep however wasn’t happy at all, they just stood there looking on the ground rather miserable ๐Ÿ™‚

I thought it had rained quite a lot today, it looked that way when watching it but I guess the raindrops were small because the ground is just as dry as before just beneath the surface. So I guess I still can hope for a mass death amongst the fly larvae ๐Ÿ™‚ Too late for the same when it comes to mosquitos, we have plenty already and several attacked me in the forest today. I get immune towards the itching rather fast thankfully so mosquitos don’t disturb me that much to be hones even though that annoying sound they make tends to drive me slightly mad ๐Ÿ™‚

Well that is if the climate continues to give us short winters. They really don’t need to be warm but they do need to be short. The Black Walnut is slowly opening up its leafs and it is now almost six years old and perhaps 140cm (56 inches) high ๐Ÿ™‚ I feel that I might have a few trees that will grow a bit too high for my garden but at the time they will be that big I’m most likely dead and gone anyway ๐Ÿ™‚

It seems that a previous owner had an arboretum with lots of unusual trees. Unfortunately my boss didn’t know that and cut several of them down. Lucky enough some have spread to the forest which he also owns so not all trees are lost. By the way, do anyone of You know about a conifer with short needles that when cut gets bright orange wood? She was in the neighborhood when they called her and said she should go to me, too bad they forgot to tell me though ๐Ÿ™‚ She just wanted an explanation on where I was planning on letting the water from the shower, dishwashing and shower out. It is finally over for this year :-)

We’re having much the same weather here today as we had yesterday, no wind and perhaps a tiny bit warmer though. I have to admit that it’s quite nice even if I would prefer sunshine and warm weather. We haven’t gotten that much rain as they predicted though so we might still get a reasonable fly free summer ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ll get tired of it soon enough though.

I stood still for a moment to take a photo and the dogs were just beside me when I suddenly heard a loud crack in the forest beside me. None of us was even looking at that direction but still the Roe deer goat (as we caklle the females) desided she had to get away. It isn't easy when one is heavily pregnant but she was quite calm when she saw neither I nor the dogs were especiallly intere4sted in her. She stood at the same spot when we walked away.

I watched The Eurovision Song Contest yesterday night and it was quite ok. They had changed how they presented the votes this year. There are jutยดry groups in every country, people mostly working in the music business and then there’s the televoting. I just can’t understand how they could win, I’m sorry Ukraine but I just can’t ๐Ÿ™‚ Australia cameย second and we Swedes ended up as fifth. One problem when summer start this early is to keep calm in placing more sensitive plants outside too early. We can and often do get frost here the first week in June but already now nights are warm (Scandinavian warm that is). I would like to have my tomato plants, the two I have, outside already now. I also have several Tamarillos which need both bigger pots and more light. I know that when the are acclimated to an outside life they will manage to survive down to at least 0C (32F). I once had one growing in a south heading window when I lived in Gothenburg. It grew really large and even gave me fruit but I tossed it away since it really smalls rather nasty if touched and for some reason one does that every time no matter how careful one is ๐Ÿ™‚

Nasty sharp that goes straight through the skin and are impossible to get out again ๐Ÿ™‚ It has those thorns both on the stems and the leafs ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ve heard the fruit is delicious so I just had to try and grow it, no matter how thorny it is ๐Ÿ™‚
